WoW Mythic+ Push Guide: From +15 to Title Range This Season
A practical roadmap for climbing Mythic+ keys past +15 this season - route planning, affix prep, pull optimization, and when to fortify vs. push.

The jump from a comfortable +15 to title-range rating isn't about playing harder - it's about preparing better. This guide is the condensed version of what top-200 runners actually change between their "farm" week and their "push" week.
What Mythic+ title range actually demands
Title range in a typical season sits around the top 0.1% of the player base - roughly a 3700-3900 rating on Raider.IO. That means every dungeon in the pool needs a clean +18 or better. At that key level, boss damage starts scaling past defensive-cooldown budgets and affixes stop being "interesting" and become strict skill checks.
Two things separate players stuck at 3100 from players pushing 3900:
- Route discipline. Title runners pull exactly the right 102% of the required count - never 105%, never 98% with a re-sweep.
- Cooldown choreography. Every big pull has a written plan: who popped what, when the next layer lands, who covers the gap.
The good news: both are rehearsable in a focused week. The bad news: you can't shortcut either.
Step 1 - Build your dungeon pool with intent
Don't push all eight dungeons. The top-200 runs timed 500+ keys a season; they pick four dungeons per push week and dump them cold when the affixes rotate unfavorably.
Rank dungeons on two axes:
- Your group's damage profile - melee-heavy? Skip dungeons with kite-heavy trash packs. Ranged-heavy? Lean into them.
- Forced mechanics - which dungeons have a boss your healer can't yet cover? That's a no-go key until they've practiced it.
Title runners will play three dungeons at +21 and ignore the other five if they aren't favorable. You get more rating pushing one key 3 levels higher than running all 8 at +18.
Sample pool priority
| Priority | Your group | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Lock | Your healer's best dungeon | Lowest-variance run of the pool. |
| Lock | Your tank's best dungeon | Second-lowest variance - insurance. |
| Tier 2 | Any dungeon where your comp's CC kit maps onto required interrupts | CC debt is the silent killer in +20s. |
| Tier 2 | Any "mid boss = easy" dungeon (e.g. 2-boss fights you can cleave) | Small time refund matters at timer boundaries. |
| Skip | Any dungeon with a boss your DPS has never practiced tactically | Title is not the week to learn encounters. |
Step 2 - Plan routes, don't improvise
Every title-range key runs a written route. The standard tool chain is:
- Method's MDT (Mythic Dungeon Tools) for the visual plan
- A count percentage tracker - every pack's count added, shown in % of required
- Bloodlust timings noted on the first pull it lands and every subsequent refresh
- CD windows marked at the pulls that need them
Rules of thumb for the route itself:
- Aim for 102-104% total count. 101% leaves no buffer; 110% costs 45-90 seconds.
- First pull ≥ 15% of required count. Bloodlust on a small first pull wastes its single most valuable charge.
- Last pull inside the timer window - if the boss kills at 31:40 on a 33:00 timer, you have 80 seconds of buffer. Use 60 of it on the final trash pack and keep 20 as insurance.
- Shroud paths (Rogue / Shadowmeld / Invis pots): plan them before the run, never on the fly.
Step 3 - The affix-specific prep no one talks about
Each affix week shifts which dungeons are worth pushing. A quick heuristic:
- Fortified weeks (trash is buffed) - push dungeons with low trash-count density. Routes with many small bosses trivialize fortified.
- Tyrannical weeks (bosses are buffed) - push dungeons where trash burst can compensate for slower boss fights. Large single-pack damage windows pay dividends.
- Seasonal affix - treat as a permanent factor. If your group can't cover it cleanly, your season ceiling is capped 1-2 key levels below peers who can.
Watch the dungeon's best-run video on Warcraftlogs for the current week BEFORE your first push. You'll spot 2-3 pulls where the top groups route differently from the standard MDT plan - that's the edge.
Step 4 - Cooldown choreography beats raw DPS
A +21 boss dies in ~2:10. Your class's main cooldowns cycle at 2-3 minutes. This means every boss is 2 cooldown windows, max. Title runners write down:
- Opener window - which CDs drop at the pull, who blows them, what damage profile they cover
- Mid-fight gap - the 30-45 seconds between CDs where raw damage drops. Usually the most dangerous phase.
- Closer window - push to kill. If the boss has a soft enrage, the gap window becomes a survival check instead of a DPS check.
Tanks especially: your self-survival cooldowns matter more than your active-mitigation rotation once boss damage passes 75% of your max HP per swing. Know when your immunity is vs. when your healer is forced to full-heal you vs. when you're dead.
Step 5 - Push-week pacing
Don't push every day. The optimal title week looks like:
- Mon-Tue: Practice keys (+17 to +19 range). Run routes clean. No rating-pushing intent.
- Wed-Thu: Push lower dungeons in the pool (+19 to +20). Gain score on the 2-3 keys that are closest to your ceiling.
- Fri-Sun: High-attempt days. Go for peak keys. If a +21 bricks twice in a row, drop back to +20 and push THAT instead - a clean +20 is worth more rating than a bricked +21.
Burnout is the #1 killer of title runs. You cannot push at peak for 6+ hours a day for a week; even top-50 runners cap at about 4 focused hours. Outside that window, you're donating rating.
Checklist: the morning of your push
- Route copied into MDT, reviewed for this week's affixes
- Group's CD cooldown plan written (opener / mid / closer)
- Shroud paths rehearsed (if relevant)
- Healer has the boss-cast table memorized - not just which cast hits, but which side-effect applies
- Depleted-key backup plan - know which lower key in the pool you'll drop to if the first attempt bricks
Most players skip at least one of these. Runners above 3500 do them without thinking.
Frequently asked questions
How much RIO score do I actually need for title range?
Title cutoffs vary by season and region, but the floor is usually 3700-3800 on US and 3750-3850 on EU. The safest target is 3900+, since late-week cutoffs can jump 50-100 points as players finalize their weekly pushes.
Is a boost worth it before I start pushing?
A one-time +20 carry clear is sometimes worth it if you genuinely haven't seen a high key before and don't want to burn your own team's attempts learning the layout. If you want to try that route, check our World of Warcraft boosting services - all runs are piloted by title-range players, VPN-protected, and you can watch live. Past that single educational run, the practice has to come from your own keys.
What if my group falls apart mid-season?
Normal. Title pushing is a fragile ecosystem; groups dissolve over schedules, not skill. Have two backup players per role in your network before the push week starts, not after it. Anyone you've done a timed +18 with counts.
Should I worry about affix rotation for the title push?
Yes. Plan the week you'll attempt your highest keys around the affix rotation that suits your comp. Don't try title keys on a week where the affix-pool is actively hostile - the rating gained will be less than the attempts it costs.
How many hours per week does a title push actually take?
Above 3700, 20-25 focused hours during push week is normal. That's 4 hours of keys + 1 hour of prep (route review, VOD review) per day for 5 days. Beyond 30 hours, marginal rating per hour crashes - you're trading focus for time.
