THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • Ancient Lands portals got busier. Dragonfire Patch 3 (October 12, 2026) cut the average spawn time of small Yellow Zone portals from 45 to 15.5 minutes but cut their Fame and loot by 30%. Red and Black Zone portals kept full loot.
  • Avalonian Dungeons were nerfed for silver. Radiant Wilds Patch 3 (June 29, 2026) reduced the silver output of every chest in Avalonian Dungeons.
  • The Mists were buffed. The same patch raised Mists chest and boss rewards "significantly" and made Treasure Chests and Crystal Spiders spawn more often.
  • Fees decide whether trading pays. A sell order costs a 2.5% setup fee plus a 4% sales tax with Premium, or 8% without (Albion Online Wiki). By our math, a flip needs about a 9.6% spread with Premium and 14.5% without just to break even.
  • Pick by risk, not by headline numbers. Higher-risk zones pay more because what you carry can be lost. Size your kit to what you can replace.

This Albion Online silver farming guide is built on Sandbox Interactive's own patch notes, mainly Dragonfire Patch 3 (October 12, 2026, the current live patch) and the Radiant Wilds Patch 3 changelog (June 29, 2026), which moved silver between instanced activities on purpose. Market fees come from the community Albion Online Wiki's Marketplace page, and the break-even spreads are our own arithmetic.

Sandbox Interactive doesn't publish silver-per-hour figures. Player-reported hourly rates swing hugely with PvP luck, so this guide doesn't quote them as facts.

What silver is used for in Albion Online

Silver is the currency almost every Albion trade runs on, so knowing where it goes tells you how much you need:

  • Gear and resources on the Marketplace, where every listing costs a setup fee and every sale pays tax.
  • Repairs after deaths and long sessions.
  • Crafting and refining station fees, which rise with item tier.
  • Gold. The in-game Gold Market converts silver to Gold, which pays for Premium and cosmetics, so silver is also how players buy Premium without spending money.

If you mostly lose silver to repairs and replacing kits, the fix is often a cheaper kit rather than a faster farm.

Best ways to make silver in Albion Online by zone and risk

Albion's open world is split into zone colors, and the risk to your loot rises from blue to black. Our beginner zones guide explains the rules in full.

Farm silver in the Ancient Lands after Dragonfire Patch 3

Dragonfire (August 31, 2026) opened the Ancient Lands, a set of floating islands reached through portals. Portals support everything from solo players to parties of 20, and similarly sized parties are matched together inside (Dragonfire launch post). You complete island objectives, use Keystones to open Leygates, hunt Drakes and push toward the Fire Drake at the center. Spirit Waystones found there open the Dragon Sanctuary raid.

Patch 3 changed the portal economy:

Change Before After Source
Yellow small portal average spawn time 45 min 15.5 min Dragonfire Patch 3
Yellow small portal spawn chance 25% 33% Dragonfire Patch 3
Yellow small portal lock time 15 min 5 min Dragonfire Patch 3
Yellow small portal entry window 8 min 10 min Dragonfire Patch 3
Yellow small portal Fame and loot 100% 70% Dragonfire Patch 3
Red and Black small portal spawn chance n/a 33%, full loot kept Dragonfire Patch 3
Large Portal spawn chance n/a +50% Dragonfire Patch 3
Mob health and damage 100% −10% Small and Medium, −20% Large Dragonfire Patch 3
Drake chest value n/a About 10% moved to the central Fire Drake chest Dragonfire Patch 3

Sandbox says the Yellow Zone loot cut is there "to avoid injecting too much Silver." Here's what it means per hour (our own math):

  • Spawn timer only: 45 ÷ 15.5 ≈ 2.9 times as many Yellow spawns per hour. At 70% loot, that's about 2.0 times the loot on offer per hour in one region, if you can reach every portal.
  • Per run: each Yellow run pays 30% less than before. If you only ran one portal an hour anyway, you lost money.
  • The center chest matters more. With about 10% of Drake chest value moved to the Fire Drake chest, groups that leave before the center lose more than they used to.

How to use it: solo and small groups in the Yellow Zone should chain portals rather than wait on one. Groups that can handle full-loot PvP get the bigger reward in Red and Black portals, with weaker mobs than before. The Albion Online Ancient Lands guide covers the run itself: portal timers, Item Freeze, the 1200 IP soft cap, Keystones and the Fire Drake.

Join Dragon Attacks and the Dragon Sanctuary

  • Dragon Attacks: Dragons can strike anywhere on the Royal Continent with little warning. In the Outlands they're announced in advance, so guilds can gather and rivals can contest the fight (Dragonfire launch post).
  • Patch 3 changes: open-world Dragons now reset only to the last 20% health threshold, and Might rewards are up 150% (Dragonfire Patch 3). Failed attempts waste less time.
  • Dragon Sanctuary: a 20-player PvE raid entered with a Spirit Waystone. You fight Fire Drakes and Ashborn enemies before Azaryon, the Fire Dragon. Dragon Scales craft into the Dragonslayer armor set, and Azaryon can drop a Fire Drake Egg that grows into a Firewing Drake mount (Dragonfire launch post).
  • Silver angle: the market sells the materials. Scales, the new food and potion ingredients from the Ancient Lands, and Waystones all trade between players. Check prices with the Albion Online Data Project before deciding whether to sell or use them.

Albion Mists, Depths and Avalonian Dungeons for silver

Radiant Wilds Patch 3 (June 29, 2026) shifted silver between instanced content on purpose:

Content Change Source
Mists Chest and boss rewards "increased significantly" Radiant Wilds Patch 3
Mists Mob health, damage and armor reduced Radiant Wilds Patch 3
Mists Treasure Chests and Crystal Spiders spawn more often Radiant Wilds Patch 3
Enchanted Mists Fey Dragon, Griffin and Veilweaver spawns doubled Radiant Wilds Patch 3
Lethal Mists (unenchanted) Brecilien entrance removed Radiant Wilds Patch 3
Depths Base Fame +10%; less Fame when under the full group size Radiant Wilds Patch 3
Avalonian Dungeons Silver output from all chests reduced Radiant Wilds Patch 3
  • Mists are the clearest winner for solo silver. Go in with a kit you can lose, and loot chests and Crystal Spiders before fighting other players.
  • Depths reward full groups. Running short-handed now costs you Fame.
  • Avalonian Dungeons still pay, but Sandbox cut the silver in every chest. Guides that still rank them first are out of date.
  • Hellgates and Corrupted Dungeons are PvP-first instances. Their income depends on winning fights and looting opponents, so treat them as a skill test rather than a reliable farm.

Example: a solo player with a 1,000 IP kit who has an hour can run Yellow Zone small Ancient Lands portals back to back or clear Mists chests and Crystal Spiders. If they keep dying to other players in the Mists, the portal chain is the steadier choice, because Item Freeze protects what they brought in.

Albion market tax, flipping and the Black Market

The Albion Online Wiki's Marketplace page lists the fees:

Action Setup fee Sales tax (Premium) Sales tax (no Premium)
Place or update a buy order 2.5% n/a n/a
Place or update a sell order 2.5% 4% on sale 8% on sale
Instant-sell into an existing buy order None 4% 8%

Break-even flip (our own math). If you buy through a buy order at price B and resell through a sell order at price S:

  • With Premium you pay 1.025 × B and keep 0.935 × S. You break even at S ≈ 1.096 × B, so you need about a 9.6% spread.
  • Without Premium you keep 0.895 × S. You break even at S ≈ 1.145 × B, so you need about a 14.5% spread.
  • Each time you update an order, you pay the 2.5% setup fee again. Undercutting by tiny amounts every few minutes eats your margin.

Tips:

  • Check several cities' prices on the Albion Online Data Project before you haul goods. Its data comes from players running the client, so quiet items can show stale prices.
  • Transport between Royal Continent cities carries less risk than routes through Red Zones, but the spread is usually smaller.
  • Don't flip what you can't sell. Thin markets turn a 20% paper spread into a loss.

The Black Market in Caerleon is an NPC market that buys player-crafted gear and feeds it back into the game as mob and chest loot. Killing mobs creates its buy orders, so demand follows PvE activity, and the NPC buys a listed item once its price is met. That makes it the main outlet for crafters, and the classic flip is buying gear in a Royal city and selling it to the Black Market. The route into Caerleon passes through Red Zones, so the higher price comes with real risk to what you carry.

Gathering, crafting and island farming for silver

Method How it earns Our note
Gathering (T2–T8) Sell raw resources or refine them Higher tiers sell for more and are found in riskier zones
Refining Sell refined resources Compare refined vs raw prices before refining
Crafting Sell gear, often to the Caerleon Black Market Use the Armory (Radiant Wilds) to see which builds are popular and craft for demand
Island farming Grow crops and raise animals daily Low effort; profit depends on market prices
Fishing Sell fish or use them for food Steady income with little gear at risk

The Armory arrived with Radiant Wilds (April 13, 2026). It "helps you discover effective builds based on real gameplay data" (launch post). Crafters can use it to find the weapons and armor players actually run, rather than guessing.

Watch guild territory penalties

Guild season territories carry a cost, and a guild whose total cost passes a threshold takes a penalty on the silver and Fame its members earn. Radiant Wilds Patch 3 raised that threshold from 15 to 20. If your guild farms its own territories, ask officers where the cost sits before planning a farming route.

Silver farming for alts and returning players

  • Returning players: if you left before June 2026, the Mists pay more and Avalonian Dungeons pay less than you remember. The Ancient Lands and Dragons are new since August 31.
  • Multiple characters: Sandbox's Terms and Conditions allow multiple accounts. Characters played at the same time can't interact or cooperate outside a city, hideout, personal island or guild island, can't fight together or scout for each other, and all must have Premium (section 11.2).
  • New characters: start with island farming, gathering and Yellow portals while you learn the zones. Use the Armory to pick a build before you risk gear.
  • Premium: Premium halves the sales tax (Albion Online Wiki). If you sell often, factor that saving into whether Premium is worth it to you.

FAQ

What is the best way to farm silver in Albion Online in 2026? For solo players, the Mists, after the June 29 reward increase, or chained Yellow Zone Ancient Lands portals if you want lower risk. For groups, Red and Black Zone Ancient Lands portals, which kept full loot in Dragonfire Patch 3.

How do you make silver fast in Albion Online as a beginner? Start with gathering, island farming and Yellow Zone portals, where losing a fight can't cost your whole kit. Sell raw or refined resources once you've compared prices, and move to riskier zones only when you can replace what you carry.

Did Dragonfire Patch 3 nerf Ancient Lands silver? In the Yellow Zone, Fame and loot dropped 30%, but portals spawn about 2.9 times as often. Red and Black Zone portals kept full loot.

Are Avalonian Dungeons still worth it for silver? They still pay, but Radiant Wilds Patch 3 reduced the silver output of every Avalonian Dungeon chest, so the Mists now pay solo players better for similar risk.

What are the market taxes in Albion Online? A 2.5% setup fee to place or update an order, plus a 4% sales tax with Premium or 8% without (Albion Online Wiki). With Premium, a buy-and-resell flip needs about a 9.6% spread to break even.

Can I play two characters at once to farm? Yes, but they can't cooperate outside a city, hideout, personal island or guild island (section 11.2), can't fight together, and all need Premium.
