Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Beginner Guide: Squad Roles and Firing Lanes
Prepare a coordinated Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 squad, choose complementary tools and practise holding a position before increasing the challenge.

In this guide 4 sections
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is easier to approach when your squad agrees on how it will handle space. Before worrying about an ideal damage build, decide who watches each approach, where the team will regroup and which tools answer an unexpected threat.
Daybreak and Cold Iron's official launch information describes up to four players taking the role of Colonial Marines. Use the sequel's current equipment and mode descriptions; a build written for the first Fireteam Elite is not automatically valid here. Official Fireteam Elite 2 launch information.
Choose complementary jobs
Explain each selected tool in plain language: what it is meant to stop, which distance it suits and when you expect to use it. The squad does not need four identical answers to the same problem.
For an opening run, keep equipment familiar enough that you can recognise when it is ready and where it will be effective. Avoid changing several loadout elements between attempts unless the team has identified a clear reason.
Make firing lanes predictable
When holding a position, assign directions rather than letting everyone follow the same target. Keep movement deliberate around teammates who are already aiming. If you need to cross their view, communicate the move and choose a sensible moment.
Watch the approaches you are not actively firing into. An apparently quiet side can become important while the rest of the squad concentrates on a larger threat. Rotate attention instead of treating your first assignment as permanent.
Move as a group between encounters
Confirm the next destination before leaving a defensible area. Give players time to complete interactions and check supplies. An unannounced sprint ahead can leave the team arriving in pieces, each with an incomplete picture of the fight.
If the group is repeatedly overwhelmed, reduce the complexity of the plan. Pick a clearer holding position, simplify responsibilities or practise at a more manageable challenge level before trying again.
Review what broke the formation
After a difficult section, identify the first event that separated the squad or removed its coverage. Was an approach ignored, a tool used too early or a move unannounced? Change one response and test it. A coordinated squad can build on that shared lesson more reliably than on a claim that one launch-era loadout is permanently best.
