THE GUIDE

Choose your first Battlefield 6 class by the job you want to perform for a squad. A class is more than a preferred gun: its tools determine how you help an attack continue, protect a position or deal with an enemy vehicle.

Match the class to the problem

EA identifies four classes: Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon. Assault focuses on offensive pressure; Engineer handles enemy vehicles and repairs friendly ones; Support supplies and helps teammates; Recon brings reconnaissance and precision tools. Their exact equipment is explained in the official class pages. Battlefield 6 class overview.

For your first matches, choose a role with an easily recognised opportunity. If you keep noticing friendly vehicles that need help, try Engineer. If your squad's attack repeatedly loses momentum after teammates go down, explore Support. This makes your contribution visible even before your aim becomes consistent.

Read the playlist's weapon rules

EA distinguishes open-weapon and closed-weapon experiences. Open rules allow broader weapon choices, while closed rules tie choices to class restrictions. Check the actual playlist and loadout screen rather than assuming a weapon seen in a video is available in every mode. EA's class and weapon-rules guide.

Keep your first weapon setup simple. Play enough encounters to understand its comfortable engagement distance before changing several attachments. If you change a setting, test the same kind of situation again so you can judge the difference.

Move with a purpose

Before leaving cover, choose both your destination and the protection you expect to use there. Watch whether squadmates can support the same move. Sprinting alone toward the nearest action often places you in a fight that nobody else can help finish.

Use the objective to organise your decisions. Ask whether the next move helps capture, defend or advance the task your team needs. An easy elimination far from the relevant fight may contribute less than keeping a teammate in position.

Review contribution as well as kills

After a match, remember one useful action from your class kit and one missed opportunity. Work on the missed action next round. EA's new-player guide also emphasises squad play and settings that suit the individual player; there is no universal sensitivity number that substitutes for comfortable control.
