Destiny: Rising Beginner Guide: Characters, Controls and Progression
Start Destiny: Rising with a focused character plan, comfortable controls and a practical approach to upgrades and co-op.

Destiny: Rising has its own character-focused progression, so importing a Destiny 2 build without checking the mobile game's rules is a poor starting point. Begin by learning one character's abilities and how they interact with your preferred weapon range.
The official announcement describes an alternate Destiny timeline and characters with distinct abilities and weapons. The current site provides the supported download routes, hero information and maintenance notices. Official announcement, Destiny: Rising website
Make the controls comfortable first
Spend time adjusting sensitivity and button placement before judging a character. Test moving, aiming and using an ability together. A setup that works while standing still may be awkward when you need to track a target and dodge.
On a small screen, prioritize clear sightlines and reachable controls over a crowded layout. If you use a supported PC route, follow the links on the official site instead of downloading an unrelated modified client.
Invest with a specific activity in mind
Choose one character you enjoy and identify what is stopping you from completing the next available objective. Is the issue damage, survival or simply unfamiliarity with the encounter? Upgrade decisions should answer that problem.
Before spending a limited material, read the upgrade preview and confirm which character or item receives the benefit. Keep a small reserve while learning which resources are easy to replace. This is a budgeting approach, not a claim that one character is permanently the best investment.
Bring a role to co-op
Tell teammates what your chosen character can contribute. Positioning, dependable damage and timely ability use are easier to coordinate than everyone independently chasing the same target.
After an unsuccessful attempt, identify whether the group lacked damage, coordination or survival. Change the relevant part of the plan rather than replacing the entire team.
Avoid outdated progression advice
Maintenance and patches can change available activities. Check the date on any guide and compare its menus with your client. The official news feed is the place to verify service notices.
A useful early milestone is completing familiar content consistently with a build you understand. That gives you a reliable base for testing another character without scattering resources across the entire roster.
