Escape from Tarkov Beginner Guide: Prepare a Raid You Can Finish
Plan a first Escape from Tarkov raid around a clear exit, a checked loadout and one objective, with a review routine for learning from losses.

In this guide 4 sections
Escape from Tarkov becomes easier to learn when each raid has a small purpose. Entering with an expensive kit and no route can make every sound feel urgent. A checked loadout, one objective and a known exit give you decisions you can evaluate afterward.
Battlestate's official store listing presents Tarkov as a tactical survival shooter with extensive weapon customisation and separate package or mode entitlements. Check the kit as a working system
Inspect the weapon, its compatible ammunition and magazines together. Having all three items in your inventory does not by itself confirm that the weapon is ready to use. Read the item details and check the loaded state before leaving.
Choose supplies for the situations you understand and can respond to. Learn their controls before the raid becomes hectic. Keep the kit affordable enough that losing it will not force you into a completely different plan next time.
Name the objective and the exit
Choose a single task or small route for a learning raid. On entry, check the available extraction information and any conditions shown for the exit you intend to use. Do not assume that an exit from another raid or character is available this time.
Think of the route as a few recognisable landmarks. Know where you will turn, where you can pause and when you should stop extending the trip. Leave time for navigation mistakes and a blocked approach.
Avoid making every sound a fight
Before chasing contact, ask whether it helps your current objective and whether you understand the surrounding space. Unfamiliar terrain can make a promising engagement difficult to leave. A completed learning route can be more useful than an extra fight whose outcome you cannot explain.
Review the first decision that went wrong
After a loss, start before the final shot. Were you exposed while checking a menu, uncertain about the route or committed to a fight without a way out? Pick one adjustment for the next raid. If you extract, record the landmarks that worked and repeat the route before adding complexity. Exact ammunition performance and extract conditions can change, so verify those details in the current game rather than relying on an old chart.
