THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • The cap is 100 in Dawntrail (patch 7.5x). Square Enix has announced that Evercold raises it to 110 in January 2027 and adds two jobs.
  • First job: follow the Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) and your job quests. It unlocks every dungeon, roulette, and deep dungeon you'll use later.
  • Alt jobs: do your daily roulettes first (Leveling first), then grind the highest non-capstone leveling dungeon or the deep dungeon for your level. Use FATEs or Bozja (71–80) when queues are slow.
  • Stack bonuses: the Armoury Bonus (+100% below 90, +50% from 90–99) applies to enemy and FATE EXP, plus rested EXP (+50%), food (+3%), and EXP gear (Console Games Wiki).
  • Avoid capstone dungeons (levels 50/60/70/80/90/100) for leveling. Use the odd-level leveling dungeons instead.

Levels First job (MSQ) Alt jobs: best repeatable XP No-queue fallback
1–15 MSQ, class quests, Hunting Log, FATEs FATEs near the starter cities FATEs
15–50 MSQ. Use dungeons and roulettes if you fall behind Leveling Roulette, then the highest ARR leveling dungeon (Sastasha 15 → Aurum Vale 47) Palace of the Dead (1–60)
50–60 Heavensward MSQ Roulettes, then Dusk Vigil 51 → Great Gubal Library 59 Palace of the Dead (floors 51+)
60–70 Stormblood MSQ Roulettes, then Sirensong Sea 61 → Castrum Abania 69 Heaven-on-High (61–70)
70–80 Shadowbringers MSQ Roulettes, then Holminster Switch 71 → Mt. Gulg 79 Bozja / Zadnor, FATEs
80–90 Endwalker MSQ Roulettes, then Tower of Zot 81 → Aitiascope 89, allied society dailies Eureka Orthos (81–90)
90–100 Dawntrail MSQ Roulettes, then Ihuykatumu 91 → Origenics 99 Pilgrim's Traverse (91–100)

Level your first job with the MSQ

The fastest first job is the story. If the MSQ outlevels you, one roulette or dungeon run usually fixes the gap.

Key unlocks on the way (Console Games Wiki):

  1. Clear Sastasha (15) and The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (16) to unlock Duty Roulette: Leveling, available from level 16.
  2. Get your job stone at 30 and switch from your class to the job.
  3. Unlock Palace of the Dead early if you're DPS, for a no-queue option.
  4. Reach level 60 for Wondrous Tails. The Dawntrail MSQ unlocks the high-level version.

Know where later jobs start

Jobs from later expansions skip the early levels. In Dawntrail, Heavensward jobs start at 30, Stormblood jobs at 50, Shadowbringers jobs at 60, Endwalker jobs at 70, and Dawntrail jobs (Viper and Pictomancer) at 80, once you meet each job's unlock requirements, which usually include a combat job at that level (Eorzean Tavern job list). Heavensward-and-later jobs have no base class, so they have no Hunting Log (Console Games Wiki).

Stack every EXP bonus

Bonus Effect Limits Source
Armoury Bonus +100% (jobs 1–89), +50% (90–99) Enemy and FATE EXP only. Not roulette or quest EXP Console Games Wiki
Rested EXP +50% Builds while logged out in a sanctuary (city, inn). Full bar takes 7 days. Enemy, FATE, crafting, and gathering EXP Console Games Wiki
Well Fed (any meal) +3% 30 minutes per meal Console Games Wiki

Example: you've finished Dawntrail on Paladin and want to level Dancer from 60. Log out in an inn overnight, put on any EXP earring you own, eat food, and run Heaven-on-High floors. Dancer gets the +100% Armoury Bonus and rested EXP on every kill, while your roulettes add a flat daily bonus on top.

Run your daily roulettes in order

The roulette bonus is once per day per roulette, scaled to your level and the duty you draw (Console Games Wiki).

Order Roulette Why Note
1 Leveling Biggest raw XP for alts From level 16
2 Alliance Raids Strong XP per minute After unlocking alliance raids
3 Trials Quick and solid
4 Main Scenario Big XP but long runs Only if you don't mind long duties
5 Frontline daily Good XP if you play PvP Its own daily

Queue in the "In Need" role when you can.

Save your roulettes for an even level (say 76) and use them to push to the next odd level (77), so your daily spike lands just before a new dungeon unlocks.

Use the right leveling dungeon

Since patch 6.0, dungeon EXP comes from bosses, not trash, and leveling dungeons drop a gear piece for your current job on completion (Console Games Wiki). Run the highest leveling dungeon you can enter.

Every leveling dungeon, with the level you need to enter:

Expansion Dungeons (level)
A Realm Reborn Sastasha (15), Tam-Tara Deepcroft (16), Copperbell Mines (17), Halatali (20), Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak (24), Haukke Manor (28), Brayflox's Longstop (32), Sunken Temple of Qarn (35), Cutter's Cry (38), Stone Vigil (41), Dzemael Darkhold (44), Aurum Vale (47)
Heavensward Dusk Vigil (51), Sohm Al (53), The Aery (55), The Vault (57), Great Gubal Library (59)
Stormblood Sirensong Sea (61), Shisui of the Violet Tides (63), Bardam's Mettle (65), Doma Castle (67), Castrum Abania (69)
Shadowbringers Holminster Switch (71), Dohn Mheg (73), Qitana Ravel (75), Malikah's Well (77), Mt. Gulg (79)
Endwalker Tower of Zot (81), Tower of Babil (83), Vanaspati (85), Ktisis Hyperboreia (87), Aitiascope (89)
Dawntrail Ihuykatumu (91), Worqor Zormor (93), Skydeep Cenote (95), Vanguard (97), Origenics (99)

No queue? Use Duty Support. All MSQ dungeons and every Leveling-roulette dungeon now support Duty Support with NPC parties. The optional ones were added between patches 7.1 and 7.5. Trusts also cover MSQ dungeons from level 71.

Pick the deep dungeon for your level

Deep dungeons set your level on entry. EXP you earn inside counts toward your real job, and there are no role queues (Console Games Wiki).

Deep dungeon Start Range Notes
Palace of the Dead 1 1–60 —
Heaven-on-High 61 61–70 Strong for 61–70, especially for DPS
Eureka Orthos 81 81–90 Pair with Endwalker allied society dailies
Pilgrim's Traverse 91 91–100 The Dawntrail deep dungeon

There's no deep dungeon for 71–80. Use roulettes, dungeons, FATEs, or the Bozjan Southern Front and Zadnor.

Fill the gaps: FATEs, hunts, and weeklies

  • FATEs: solo-friendly, and they get the Armoury Bonus and rested EXP.
  • Hunt mark bills: daily, per expansion.
  • Hunting Log: each entry gives EXP once per class.
  • Wondrous Tails (60+): turning in a full journal gives 50% of a level for combat jobs (Console Games Wiki).

Plan by role and time

You are Main engine Why
Tank or healer Roulettes, then dungeon spam Short queues
DPS Roulettes, then deep dungeons, Bozja (71–80), FATEs while queued Long queues make dungeon spam slow

Avoid the common slowdowns

Mistake Fix
Farming capstone dungeons for XP Use the odd-level leveling dungeon below the cap
Skipping job quests Do them as soon as they unlock
Waiting in queue doing nothing FATEs, Hunting Log, or a deep dungeon while queued
Logging out outside a sanctuary Always log out in a city or inn for rested EXP
Running roulettes on a job at its cap Run them on the job you're leveling

Returning players and Evercold prep

  • Returning from Endwalker or earlier: the cap is 100, the deep dungeon for 91–100 is Pilgrim's Traverse, and Duty Support now covers all Leveling-roulette dungeons.
  • Evercold (January 2027): the cap rises to 110 with two new jobs. A job at 100 starts the new content right away, and a higher main job gives the Armoury Bonus to the rest.
  • Before launch: get your main to 100 with the Dawntrail MSQ done, level the jobs you want to play in Evercold, and bank rested EXP the week before.

Frequently asked questions

What is the max level in FFXIV right now?

100 in Dawntrail. Square Enix has announced that Evercold raises it to 110 in January 2027.

What is the fastest way to level alt jobs in FFXIV?

Do your daily roulettes (Leveling first), then run the highest leveling dungeon or the deep dungeon for your level, with rested EXP, food, and the Armoury Bonus. DPS players often do better in deep dungeons than in dungeon queues.

Does the Armoury Bonus work in roulettes?

Only on enemy and FATE EXP. The roulette completion bonus isn't boosted, according to the Console Games Wiki.

What level do I need for the Leveling Roulette?

Level 16, after clearing Sastasha and The Tam-Tara Deepcroft.

Which deep dungeon should I use for each level range?

Palace of the Dead for 1–60, Heaven-on-High for 61–70, Eureka Orthos for 81–90, and Pilgrim's Traverse for 91–100. There's none for 71–80.

What is the best way to level from 90 to 100?

Daily roulettes, then the Dawntrail leveling dungeons (Ihuykatumu 91 to Origenics 99) or Pilgrim's Traverse, with FATEs and allied society quests as filler.

Should I farm level-cap dungeons for EXP?

No. Capstone dungeons at 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 are tuned for gear. Use the odd-level leveling dungeons below them.

Can I level dungeons without other players?

Yes. Duty Support covers every MSQ and Leveling-roulette dungeon, and Trusts cover MSQ dungeons from level 71.
