Forza Horizon 5 Beginner Guide: Unlock the Festival and Race Cleanly
Follow Forza Horizon 5's early progression, understand Accolades and prepare cars for events without wasting credits.

In this guide 5 sections
Forza Horizon 5 opens up quickly, but the map becomes easier to understand when you follow the early Festival progression before chasing every icon.
The official starting guide takes players through the opening Showcase, a first Horizon Story chapter, Accolades and an initial Outpost. It explains how those steps open the wider Festival experience. Forza Horizon 5 starting guide
Follow an unlock goal
After the introductory events, choose an available race or stunt and use the Accolades menu to track a specific objective. Pinning one goal is easier than repeatedly switching between unrelated map markers.
The official guide identifies Horizon Baja, Horizon Apex and Horizon Wilds as initial Outpost choices. Pick according to the kind of driving you want to explore instead of assuming one route is mandatory for every player.
Prepare the car for the event
Read the event's restrictions before buying or modifying a car. A fast vehicle is not automatically eligible, and a build suited to one surface may be uncomfortable on another.
Begin with a car that is predictable at the speed you can control. Test braking and corner exit behavior before adding more power. If the car repeatedly leaves the road, extra acceleration is unlikely to solve the underlying issue.
Use assists as learning tools
Choose settings that let you complete clean laps, then reduce assistance gradually if you want a greater challenge. Change one setting at a time so you can understand its effect.
On a familiar route, practice braking at a consistent point and accelerating smoothly out of the turn. Compare clean runs rather than only the fastest moment on a straight.
Read the Festival Playlist requirements
A challenge may require a particular car, class or activity. Check the description and confirm your setup before spending time on an attempt.
Do not assume a reward list from an older week is still active. The current in-game Playlist is the reference for available objectives.
Keep a useful garage
You do not need to build every car immediately. Maintain a few dependable options for the activities you enjoy and save credits for a specific missing role.
Progress feels more natural when each purchase solves a problem: entering a restricted event, handling an unfamiliar surface or learning a different driving style.
