FragPunk Beginner Guide: Shard Cards, Lancers and Round Plans
Learn how to turn FragPunk's Shard Cards and Lancer abilities into a clear team plan instead of relying on aim alone.

In this guide 5 sections
FragPunk changes the usual tactical-shooter decision tree with Shard Cards. A good round begins by understanding what the selected cards and Lancer abilities allow your team to do differently.
The official launch overview identifies Shard Clash as the main mode and describes Lancers, practice tools and cards that can alter match rules. Exact card pools and balance can change, so read the current descriptions rather than relying on launch-era rankings. Official FragPunk overview
Turn a card into an action
When a card is selected, describe its practical use in one sentence. Does it help the team approach, survive a particular situation or exploit an opponent's position?
Share that plan before the round starts. A strong effect is wasted when half the team plays as though the rule has not changed. If two effects interact, confirm the actual wording instead of assuming a combination works from its name.
Learn one Lancer's full contribution
Choose a Lancer whose abilities you can use deliberately. Practice the timing and placement of every tool, not only the most visible damage ability.
Think about what teammates need from your kit. Information, obstruction and control can create a safer fight even when they do not directly produce a kill.
Use practice to answer specific questions
The official overview describes a Training Base, Map Training and practice against AI. Use those modes to learn a route, test weapon handling or check how an ability behaves.
An unfocused warm-up can become several minutes of shooting without learning anything. Enter practice with one question and leave when you can answer it.
Keep the round plan simple
Choose an initial route, a trade partner and a fallback. When the plan breaks, communicate the new information instead of silently continuing toward the original destination.
After a lost round, separate aim mistakes from planning mistakes. Changing weapons will not fix a push where teammates could not support each other.
Recheck changed cards
FragPunk's official updates have adjusted existing cards and added new ones. Example update notes
A useful beginner habit is reading the live card text before committing to a familiar strategy. That keeps your decisions relevant as the available combinations evolve.
