Hunt: Showdown Beginner Guide: Sound, Positioning and Extraction
Use sound information, sensible loadouts and deliberate extraction decisions to improve your first Hunt: Showdown matches.

In this guide 5 sections
Hunt: Showdown is a game of incomplete information. The useful question is not only where an opponent is, but what you have revealed about your own position while trying to find them.
Crytek's player guide covers the Bounty Hunt loop, loadout preparation and tracking objectives. Its audio articles explain why sound is a deliberate part of reading the environment. Official player guide, Crytek's audio design overview
Listen before choosing the next route
Pause at a protected position and separate nearby activity from distant combat. Share the direction and type of information you actually heard rather than announcing a precise enemy location you cannot confirm.
Sound can suggest a route or danger, but it is not permission to ignore sightlines. Approach a suspected position with cover and a way to change direction.
Make noise deliberately
Sometimes speed is worth the information you reveal. At other times, a quieter approach lets you observe before committing.
The goal is not moving slowly everywhere. It is knowing why you are accepting noise at that moment. If the team has already been detected, continuing an unnecessarily slow route may create a different risk.
Bring equipment you understand
Choose a primary weapon whose effective fighting distance you recognize. Pair the rest of the loadout around the situations that weapon handles poorly.
Before deploying, check recovery and utility items rather than spending the entire budget on the gun. A balanced kit is easier to learn from than one impressive weapon with no supporting plan.
Reposition after a predictable exchange
If you repeatedly appear at the same opening, opponents can prepare for the next attempt. Change the angle when possible and tell teammates where you are moving.
Do not make a long rotation without considering whether the team can support you at the destination.
Treat extraction as a decision
Winning a fight does not remove the need to leave. Discuss the next objective and the value already at risk before seeking another encounter.
After a loss, review the information chain: what you heard, what you assumed and what position you chose. Crytek has continued revising audio behavior, so check official audio updates when an old guide's advice no longer matches what you hear.
