THE GUIDE

A reliable first team in RAID: Shadow Legends needs more than a collection of rare portraits. Choose champions whose abilities work together, then give them equipment that supports those jobs. Progress becomes easier to diagnose when each team slot has a clear purpose.

Understand what your champions do

Read the Skills tab before upgrading a new champion. Identify the main attacker, the source of recovery or protection and any debuffs the team relies on. Test unfamiliar abilities manually before assuming the automatic sequence uses them at the right moment.

Plarium's official beginner tips explain affinities, manual battle testing and the importance of appropriate primary stats. Use that foundation to ask why an encounter fails instead of immediately replacing the whole team.

Inspect stats before set labels

A set bonus is only part of an Artifact's value. Compare the primary stat and useful secondary stats with the champion's actual role. Equipment chosen for an attacker may not solve the survival problem of a support champion.

Our recommended review is simple: pick one champion who repeatedly fails to do their job, inspect their gear and change the clearest mismatch first. Run the same encounter again so you can judge the difference.

Protect resources that are hard to replace

Do not spend Skill Tomes merely to clear a notification. Confirm that the champion is part of your plan and that the resource matches the intended upgrade. Likewise, examine a champion before using it as rank-up material.

The official champion guide describes acquisition routes and the in-game information for shard probabilities. Read those probabilities rather than interpreting a promotional image as a guaranteed outcome.

Measure consistency before speed

When practicing a stage, note whether the team finishes reliably and which moment causes a defeat. A slightly slower clear that works repeatedly can be a better learning platform than an occasional fast success.

For your early progression, keep a small core team and review new options against a specific missing role. You can expand once you know whether the next obstacle needs damage, recovery, control or a different affinity matchup. This guide offers a team-building method, not a promise that one champion remains best after every balance update.
