Rainbow Six Siege Beginner Guide: Drones, Maps and Safer Entries
Learn a repeatable Rainbow Six Siege entry routine using map knowledge, drone information and short callouts instead of taking blind gunfights.

In this guide 7 sections
Rainbow Six Siege becomes easier to understand when you reduce how many unknown angles you face at once. Ubisoft's map starter guides emphasise learning the maps. Use that knowledge to build a repeatable entry routine rather than trying to memorise everything in one evening.
Learn one route in both directions
Choose a map and identify an exterior entry, the next room, a staircase and a route toward the objective. Learn the room names used by your team. Walk the route backwards as well: a retreat should not require a new navigation puzzle.
The goal is not perfect knowledge of every room. It is knowing what you can see, what you cannot see and where a defender could move while you advance.
Drone with a specific question
Before moving into a dangerous space, use your drone to answer one question: is the immediate route clear, where is the defender, or which obstacle prevents entry? Information is most useful when you act on it promptly.
Do not continue exploring simply because the drone is still alive. If you have answered the question that blocked your entry, communicate the result and coordinate the next action.
Keep the first engagement manageable
Approach from cover and expose yourself to as few angles as possible. If your teammate is checking one direction, agree on who watches the other. Two players staring at the same doorway can still leave the flank completely open.
After a failed entry, separate the cause into three possibilities: missing information, an unprotected angle, or a mechanical mistake. Practising aim will not repair a route that repeatedly exposes you to several defenders.
Make callouts actionable
Use a room or landmark, then the enemy's position and movement. Distinguish what you saw from what you suspect. An old sighting should not sound like a live position.
Keep the channel clear when another teammate is trying to act on immediate information. A short accurate call is more valuable than a long explanation of your own death.
A useful practice session
- Spend a few minutes learning one route and its room names.
- Play with the goal of droning before your first contested entry.
- Review the first avoidable death after each round.
- Change one route or timing decision in the next round.
