THE GUIDE

Windrose combines pirate adventure with survival and crafting. A useful starting plan connects a small base project with the next expedition: collect what you need, make the improvement and return to sea with a clearer purpose.

The official Steam page identifies Kraken Express and provides the current release description, co-op information and development notices. Read those notices when an older guide describes a feature differently.

Choose the next practical craft

Before gathering, inspect the next item or structure you intend to make. Record the required materials and check what is already in storage. This prevents a long trip that brings back interesting loot but none of the component blocking progress.

Our recommendation is to organize supplies around immediate projects. Keep basic materials accessible and separate unusual finds until you understand their purpose.

Make the first expedition short

Pick one destination and decide what success looks like: reaching a landmark, obtaining a material or learning an encounter. Keep enough inventory space for the planned return.

Notice the route back while traveling outward. If an unfamiliar threat changes the plan, returning with useful information is a valid outcome. You do not have to complete every discovery in one outing.

Learn ship and combat controls separately

Practice navigation in a manageable situation before combining it with a demanding encounter. A calm rehearsal gives you time to understand camera movement, steering and the relevant interaction prompts.

Do the same with personal combat. Read an enemy's attack, try a controlled response and observe the result. Avoid changing several pieces of equipment when the real issue is recognizing the attack too late.

Prepare a shared world together

Agree who is hosting, when the group intends to play and what the immediate project is. The official store description recommends a party of up to four for an optimal experience, while available configurations and performance can evolve.

Tell teammates before using supplies reserved for a ship or base upgrade. A brief shared checklist prevents several players from unknowingly competing for the same materials.

Use developer announcements for save, update and availability details. This guide offers an expedition-planning method; it does not promise that an old recipe, route or development timeline remains unchanged.
