WoW Midnight Aqir Invasions Guide: Schedule, Affixes, Rewards
Aqir Invasions guide for WoW Midnight 12.1.5: how to unlock them, the hourly schedule, six objectives, eight affixes, Aqir Research Enclave rep.

In this guide 15 sections
Quick summary
- What it is: a zone-wide public event in Eversong Woods or Zul'Aman, rotating weekly. It starts every hour at xx:00: 10 minutes of objectives, then an Aqir Monstrosity boss with a 5-minute window. Everything ends by xx:15 (Blizzard, Icy Veins).
- Unlock: Wowhead says you need the first chapter of the 12.1.5 campaign, starting with "The Aqir Swarm" from Lor'themar Theron in Silvermoon. Method says there's no intro quest. Pick up the quest first to be sure.
- Weekly reward: your first Monstrosity kill each week gives an Aqir Research Satchel: a Champion-quality item, Coffer Key Shards, Hero and Champion Mistcrests, Voidlight Marl, and gold.
- Reputation: the Aqir Research Enclave goes from Neutral to Exalted at 5,000 rep. Exalted unlocks the Corrupted Swarmer mount for 2,500 Voidlight Marl.
- Probably limited time. Wowhead says all four achievements are Feats of Strength, and NPCs hint the event won't last.
Unlock Aqir Invasions
- Go to Silvermoon City and talk to Lor'themar Theron. Accept "The Aqir Swarm", the first chapter of the 12.1.5 campaign, "The Promise of Tomorrow."
- Finish that chapter. Wowhead says this unlocks the invasions.
- If Lor'themar has nothing for you, go straight to the invaded zone. Method says there are no intro quests, so you may already have access.
Find this week's zone and start time
- Open your world map. A scarab or insect icon marks the invaded zone, with a timer to the next invasion (Wowhead, Method).
- Zones: Eversong Woods or Zul'Aman, switching weekly. Wowhead says the rotation alternates with the Void Assaults from 12.0.5. Method's overview names Silvermoon City instead of Eversong Woods, but Blizzard, Wowhead, and Icy Veins all say Eversong.
- Check the next xx:00. Invasions start at the top of every hour.
Follow the hourly timeline
| Time | What happens | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| xx:55–xx:00 | Nothing yet | Fly to the zone, repair, and group up |
| xx:00 | The invasion starts. One objective appears on the map | Go to the purple insect icon |
| xx:00–xx:10 | Objectives spawn one at a time. When one finishes, the next starts elsewhere in the zone (Method) | Finish as many as you can, and fly straight to the next |
| xx:10 | The Aqir Monstrosity spawns somewhere in the zone | Look for the insect icon with the silver dragon border |
| xx:10–xx:15 | 5-minute boss window | Kill it before it despawns |
| xx:15 | The invasion ends, whether the boss died or not | Wait for the next hour |
Example: you log in at 7:50 PM. Fly to the invaded zone and wait near its center. At 8:00, go to the first objective. At 8:10, head for the Monstrosity. You're done by 8:15 and free for a Labyrinth run or a key before 9:00.
Complete the six objectives
Blizzard says each invasion uses six scenario types: three combat and three non-combat. Method lists them as:
- Disrupt Aqir
- Aid Defenders!
- Aqir Nesting Grounds
- Whack the Aqir
- Aerial Assault
- Reinforce Defenses
Each is a fill-the-bar event (Wowhead). Only one runs at a time (Method). Blizzard says you're rewarded for completing as many as you can before the 10 minutes end. No Hives Left Standing asks you to complete each scenario once.
Handle the eight affixes
Combat objectives get affixes. Method says each combat objective rolls two of the eight. The descriptions come from Blizzard's patch notes. The last column is our suggested response, not something the sources state.
| Affix | What it does (Blizzard) | How to respond (our tip) |
|---|---|---|
| Void Protection | An Aqir Voidweaver may appear and shield all other aqir | Kill the Voidweaver first |
| Aqir Burrower | Burrowing aqir knock anyone nearby into the sky | Keep moving and watch the ground |
| Void Sphere | Void Spheres roam and trap anyone they catch | Watch for them and step around |
| Astalor's Anguish | Anguish Crystals damage aqir and players caught in the blast | Pull mobs into the blasts and step out yourself |
| Swarms! | All aqir are replaced by swarms of smaller aqir | Use your AoE |
| Aqir Elites | All aqir are replaced by fewer, stronger aqir | Group up and focus one at a time |
| Void Infestation | Infested aqir explode after a few seconds in combat, hurting players and infecting other aqir | Spread out from the infested ones |
| Web Weavers | An Aqir Webweaver may spawn. If its channel isn't interrupted, it webs a player | Interrupt the channel |
Kill the Aqir Monstrosity
The Monstrosity is a world-boss-style fight, open to everyone in the zone for 5 minutes (Icy Veins). If it isn't dead by xx:15, it leaves, and you wait for the next hour. Each kill gives 100 Aqir Research Enclave reputation. Driving Back the Swarm asks for 10 kills.
Know what you get
| Source | Reward | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Objectives | Voidlight Marl, 35 rep each event | Every invasion |
| Monstrosity kill | 100 rep | Every kill |
| First Monstrosity kill of the week | Aqir Research Satchel: Champion-quality gear, Coffer Key Shards, Hero and Champion Mistcrests, Voidlight Marl, gold | Once a week |
| Monstrosity kill | Aqir Research Token | Disputed |
| Flying through the aerial aqir above the zone | 1 rep each | Any time |
The Research Token conflict: Icy Veins says every Monstrosity kill gives a token. Method says only your first completion each week does. Wowhead says you can kill the boss several times a week "for additional reputation catch up rewards," which suggests more than one. Check your bags after your second kill.
None of the sources says whether the weekly satchel is per character or per account. Wowhead notes that power rewards are limited to once a week, and most of the event's value is cosmetic.
Grind Aqir Research Enclave reputation
The Enclave is a sub-faction of the Silvermoon Court. It uses classic ranks instead of Renown levels (Icy Veins, Wowhead).
| Rank | Rep for this rank | Running total |
|---|---|---|
| Neutral | 500 | 500 |
| Friendly | 1,000 | 1,500 |
| Honored | 1,500 | 3,000 |
| Revered | 2,000 | 5,000 (Exalted) |
How fast is that? The sources say "completing an Aqir Invasion event" gives 35 rep, but not whether that's each objective or the whole hour. Here are both readings, using our own arithmetic:
- If it's per objective: finish four objectives and the boss, and you get 4 × 35 + 100 = 240 rep, or about 21 hours to Exalted.
- If it's per invasion: 35 + 100 = 135 rep an hour, or about 37 hours.
Either way, plan on several weeks of casual play. Fly through the aerial aqir on your way between objectives for an extra point each.
Spend your Voidlight Marl
Estelia Archtender sells everything for Voidlight Marl once you have the rank. Wowhead puts both vendors at /way 39.4 80.3 in Silvermoon. Method says Estelia is on the outskirts of Falconwing Square, near the Conquest quartermaster.
| Item | Type | Rank | Cost (Voidlight Marl) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dormant Brood Egg, Nourished Brood Eggs | Decor | Friendly | 250 each |
| Aqir Wingreaver | Pet | Friendly | 1,000 |
| Dormant and Nourished Brood Egg Clusters | Decor | Honored | 250 each |
| Aqir Scuttler | Pet | Honored | 1,000 |
| Dormant and Nourished Clutches of Brood Eggs | Decor | Revered | 350 (Icy Veins) or 500 (Method) each |
| Aqir Razorwing | Pet | Revered | 2,000 |
| Aqir Hunter's Trophy | Decor | Exalted | 1,000 |
| Curse of the Aqir | Toy | Exalted | 2,500 |
| Corrupted Swarmer | Mount | Exalted | 2,500 |
Our spend order, if you want the mount: save 2,500 Voidlight Marl for the Corrupted Swarmer before you reach Exalted, so you can buy it the day you get there. Buy decor and pets with what's left. If the event is limited time, as Wowhead suspects, the mount is the item you'd miss.
Trade Research Tokens for Renown catch-up
Matildeux Osril, next to Estelia, sells vouchers for Aqir Research Tokens. Icy Veins says each voucher gives 2,500 reputation, the equivalent of a full Renown level, with one of these factions:
- Silvermoon Court
- Amani Tribe
- Hara'ti
- Singularity
- Zul'jarra's Forces
Spend them on whichever faction is furthest behind on the reward you want. Our Renown guide covers what each faction unlocks.
Earn the achievements
Wowhead says all four are Feats of Strength, which usually means they won't be available forever:
| Achievement | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Aqir Research Associate | Reach Exalted with the Aqir Research Enclave |
| No Hives Left Standing | Complete each Aqir Invasion scenario once |
| Driving Back the Swarm | Complete 10 invasions by killing the Aqir Monstrosity |
| Bane of the Swarm | Complete the three above. Rewards the title "Bane of the Swarm" (Icy Veins) |
Fit invasions into your 12.1.5 week
- This week (from October 13): start Orin Straylight's research quest in Silvermoon. It unlocks Ascendant Venomstones the week of October 20, when the crest cap also lifts. Our catch-up guide has the order.
- Use the satchel for gear. One Champion piece and a stack of Mistcrests each week help alts and returning players most.
- Spend the other 45 minutes of each hour on the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan or the Kith'ix raid.
If you're returning, boosted, or making an alt
- Returning for 12.1.5? Aqir Invasions are one of the easiest ways back in. They're open-world and need no group finder, and the satchel gives Champion gear and crests.
- Boosted to max level? You can join any invasion, but do the campaign chapter from Lor'themar first in case Wowhead is right about the unlock.
- Making an alt? Do the first Monstrosity kill each week on each alt you're gearing, then check whether it got a satchel. The sources don't say yet whether it's per character. Spend Research Tokens on the factions your alts need.
