Blazing Scream Warlock Build: Diablo 4 Season 15 Guide
Blazing Scream Warlock build for Diablo 4 Season 15: unique order from Elegy to Mythic, skills, gear, runes, Paragon, rotation and Demonform survival.

In this guide 16 sections
Quick summary
- The engine: Elegy turns Blazing Scream into an Archfiend skill whose small skulls hit as hard as the main one. Infernal Homunculus adds all Lesser Demon upgrades, which bring Wrath and Vulnerable. The Eightfold Idol leaves lava trails that boost Hellfire damage.
- Survival: Destruction Demon keeps you in Demonform permanently but burns you the whole time. Sadistic Aspect + Undying Aspect + Temerity keep you alive.
- Order of uniques: Elegy first. Equip Infernal Homunculus only once you have Elegy. Wear Hand of Apotheosis only if it's Mythic quality. Maxroll says to use Aspect of Ignition until then.
- Rotation: Mount Abodian, cast Metamorphosis once, cast Dark Prison only mid-fight, then spam Blazing Scream into walls and corridors so the skulls bounce.
- Leveling: Blazing Scream ranks B on Maxroll's leveling list and S on the major endgame lists, so level with something else and switch.
The Blazing Scream Warlock is the top-ranked endgame build of Diablo 4 Season 15, Season of Hell's Legacy. It sits at the top of the S row on Maxroll's Blazing Scream guide and its endgame tier list, and is S tier on InfinityBuilds and D4 Forge as well. This guide combines Maxroll, D4Guides and D4 Forge setups into one plan: which uniques to chase first, skill points, gear and tempers, runes and splinters, Paragon, mercenaries and the rotation. Patch 3.2.4 (October 28, 2026) made no class balance changes, so everything below still applies.
How the Blazing Scream Warlock build works
Blazing Scream is a Hellfire Core skill that fires a demon skull. That skull damages everything it passes through and bounces off walls. Maxroll notes that in this build it carries more tags than any Warlock skill before it: Greater Demon, Lesser Demon, Hellfire, Archfiend, Demonology and Fire. Each tag adds damage from a different source.
| Piece | Provided by | What it does for you |
|---|---|---|
| Archfiend skulls | Elegy (weapon) | Blazing Scream becomes Archfiend, gets Skull Splitter free, and the small skulls deal full damage |
| Lesser Demon upgrades | Infernal Homunculus (offhand) | More Archfiend damage. Each cast activates all Lesser Demon upgrades, which means Wrath generation and Vulnerable |
| Lava trails | The Eightfold Idol (ring) | Enemies standing on Sigil of Subversion lava trails take more Hellfire damage. The trail also counts as casting a Sigil |
| Volatility scaling | Moloch's Beating Flame (amulet) | Each Volatility-empowered skill adds Hellfire damage and Core Stats |
| Permanent Demonform | Metamorphosis: Destruction Demon | Big Hellfire damage, but you burn yourself constantly |
| Free Metamorphosis upgrades | Hand of Apotheosis (gloves) | All Metamorphosis upgrades, stronger, but only at Mythic quality |
| Survival | Sadistic + Undying + Temerity | Healing on kill and cast. Overhealing turns into Barrier |
Example: Without Elegy, the small skulls are weak and you lose the Archfiend bonus entirely. That's why D4Guides says the build "does not work without Elegy." Farm for it before you invest in anything else.
Strengths and weaknesses at a glance:
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Top-ranked endgame clear and boss damage this season | Slow to level (B on Maxroll's leveling list) |
| Skulls bounce off walls, so corridors and tight rooms multiply damage | Needs Elegy before it works at all |
| One gear set covers Farmlock, Endgame and Push with small swaps | Destruction Demon burns you constantly |
| Riding Abodian keeps you Unstoppable between packs | Mythic gloves are only worth it at Mythic quality |
Blazing Scream Warlock variants
| You want to… | Variant | Key difference | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level or start Torment without the uniques | Starter | Legion Shard, Apocalypse instead of Destruction Demon | Maxroll |
| Farm Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, low Pits | Farmlock / Midgame | Orbital Scream, Bombardment, Warden Fragment | D4Guides |
| Run high Pits and bosses | Endgame | Skull Splitter, Rampage or Molten Bomb, Inferno Fragment | Maxroll, D4Guides |
| Speedfarm | Speedfarm / One Button | Enigma Teleport, Anathema of the Primes Rampage, or riding Abodian | Maxroll, D4Guides |
| Push Pit tiers and the Tower | Push | Bombardment, Profane Sentinel, Enigma, different Paragon | Maxroll, D4Guides |
If you're unsure, use Endgame as your target and Farmlock as your stepping stone. D4Guides says the gear stays almost the same between them.
Leveling a Blazing Scream Warlock to 70
Blazing Scream is a slow leveler. Maxroll's Season 15 leveling list puts it at B for leveling, while the endgame lists all have it in S; the Season 15 tier list compares those rankings. You have two options:
- Use Terror Swarm for Vulnerable, Nether Step to move, and Dark Prison for Fortify, with a Vanguard Shard → Warden Fragment soul shard. Leveling aspects:
| Slot | Aspect |
|---|---|
| Helm | Aspect of the Fortress |
| Chest | Aspect of Might |
| Gloves | Aspect of Scorching Heat |
| Pants | Protecting Aspect |
| Boots | Aspect of Impetus |
| Amulet | Edgemaster's Aspect |
| Ring 1 | Aspect of Peril |
| Ring 2 | Aggressive Aspect |
| Weapon | Vehement Brawler Aspect |
- Level as Apocalypse or Legion Bombardment, then switch. Swap to Blazing Scream once you have Elegy.
See our Season 15 leveling guide for the fastest route to 70.
Blazing Scream Warlock uniques: what to get first
| Step | Get | Use until you have it | Why this order |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Elegy | A strong legendary weapon. Skull Splitter has a skill point "for people who don't have Elegy yet" (Maxroll) | Without it there's no Archfiend core |
| 2 | Temerity | Aspect of Diabolical Armor in the chest for damage reduction (D4 Forge) | Barrier from overhealing is your safety net |
| 3 | Infernal Homunculus | Aspect of Accursed Touch on boots for Vulnerable and Malicious Aspect on a focus | Only useful once Elegy is equipped |
| 4 | The Eightfold Idol | Cast Sigil of Subversion manually to trigger set bonuses | Lava trails give a large Hellfire bonus |
| 5 | Moloch's Beating Flame | Any amulet with ranks to Hellfire skills | Scales with Volatility from Metamorphosis |
| 6 | Leoric's Crown | A legendary helm | Counts as jewelry, so it boosts socketed splinters |
| 7 | Wendigo Brand / Ring of Starless Skies / Stone of Jordan | Any crit ring | See the ring note below |
| 8 | Hand of Apotheosis (Mythic only) | Aspect of Ignition gloves | Maxroll: a non-Mythic pair, or one under 90%, is weaker than the aspect |
Ring 1 choice:
- Wendigo Brand: Maxroll and D4 Forge's current default. You get +2% damage and +1% attack speed per 15 recent kills.
- Stone of Jordan: Maxroll's swap if your resistances are short.
Example: You've found Elegy and Temerity but no Homunculus. Keep Accursed Touch on your boots for Vulnerable. If you equip Homunculus without Elegy, you lose the Accursed Touch Vulnerable and gain almost nothing back.
Blazing Scream Warlock skills and Soul Shard
Endgame skill points (matching D4Guides' Endgame variant):
| Skill | Points | Upgrades |

| Rampage | Max | Lesser Demon Wrath, Elite Hit Chance, Demonic Smash |
| Sigil of Subversion | 4 (not on bar) | Movement Speed, Slow, Sigil of Lava |
| Metamorphosis | Max | Damage Scaling, Stagger Bar, Destruction Demon |
Skill bar options:
| Slot | Endgame (Maxroll) | Farmlock (D4Guides) | Push |
|---|---|---|---|

| 3 | Metamorphosis | Metamorphosis | Dark Prison |

| 5 | Molten Bomb | Bombardment | Blazing Scream |
| 6 | Blazing Scream | Blazing Scream | (Enigma Teleport on Evade) |
Soul Shard:
- Vanguard Shard → Inferno Fragment for Endgame. Stay close to enemies so its burn hits them.
- Warden Fragment for Farmlock.
- Legion Shard for the Starter variant.
Blazing Scream Warlock gear, tempers and stats
| Slot | Item | Affix priority (combined) | Temper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Elegy | Crit Damage, ranks to Blazing Scream, Weapon Damage, Willpower | Crit Chance |
| Offhand | Infernal Homunculus | Crit Chance, ranks to Demonology, Max Life, Weapon Damage | Crit Chance / Crit Damage |
| Helm | Leoric's Crown | Max Life, Attack Speed, Willpower, Armor/Shadow Res | Max Life |
| Chest | Enigma (or Diabolical Armor legendary) | Max Life, Damage Reduction, Armor, Movement Speed | Max Life |
| Gloves | Hand of Apotheosis (Mythic) or Ignition | Crit Chance, Max Life, Vulnerable Damage, Willpower | Crit Damage |
| Pants | Temerity | Max Life, Wrath Regeneration, Willpower, Armor | Max Life |
| Boots | Legendary with Undying or Sadistic | Max Life, Wrath Regen, Willpower, Evade Charges | Movement Speed |
| Amulet | Moloch's Beating Flame (Sadistic or Undying via Transfiguration) | Ranks to Hellfire, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, Vulnerable | Resource Generation |
| Ring 1 | Wendigo Brand / Starless Skies / SoJ | Crit Chance, Max Life, Willpower, Crit Damage | Resource gen or cost reduction |
| Ring 2 | The Eightfold Idol | Crit Chance, Willpower, ranks to Sigil of Subversion, Vulnerable | Resource gen or cost reduction |
Targets (D4Guides): 100% Attack Speed, 100% Critical Strike Chance, and more than 10 Wrath Regeneration. Put Max Life on almost every piece and keep Fire Resistance very high. Maxroll says to prioritize Fire Resistance first, then one of each other resistance.
Tempers for resource: Maxroll recommends 2–3 "Lucky Hit: Restore Resource" tempers.
Charms:
- Phoba of Abaddon's Flesh is Maxroll's strongest set. Seal of the Diamond Mind adds the Phoba of the Nameless 3-piece, triggered by the Idol's trails.
- Anathema of the Primes makes Rampage cost Wrath, which makes it a strong speedfarm movement skill.
- D4Guides runs a five-piece Abaddon's Flesh set with The Furnace in an Ancestral Horadric Seal.
Splinters and runes for Blazing Scream
Splinters (Leoric's Crown boosts the ones in your helm):
- Abyssal Splinter of the Black Soulstone: triggered by the small skulls.
- Abyssal Splinter of Anguish: pushes you toward the Attack Speed and Crit caps but drains resource. Maxroll suggests Splinter of Hellfire instead until your Wrath is stable.
- Splinter of Pain + Splinter of the Mother: Pain is survivability at the cost of movement speed, and Mother's Unhindered cancels that slow out. Mother also applies Vulnerable.
- Splinter of Sin: more Max Life. Maxroll uses it for the Push variant, D4Guides for Endgame.
- Splinter of Damnation: XP gain while you level Paragon.
See our Splinters of Evil guide for the season's Prime Evil powers, and the Season 15 gold farming guide for how to target-farm a specific Soul Splinter by choosing the matching gem reward in Escalation Nightmare Dungeons.
Runes: guides disagree here. The most common choices:
- Tir for Wrath on kill. All three guides use it in some form.
- Sol for damage reduction, in the pants.
- Nagu, Que and Lac for summon counting, Barrier and DR (Maxroll's Endgame set).
- Gar for early Crit Chance.
How to survive Destruction Demon
Destruction Demon's self-burn grows with every cast. Run this checklist before you go up a Torment level:
- Sadistic Aspect on the amulet via Transfiguration (Kullean Tuning Prism) or temporarily on boots. Undying Aspect on the other slot.
- A large life pool. Take Max Life Paragon nodes.
- High Fire Resistance. D4Guides lists low Fire Resistance as a common mistake.
- Starter fallback: if you still die, use the Starter variant (Apocalypse instead of Destruction Demon) until your gear catches up.
Example: You die in Pit 60 as soon as a pack of elites spawns. Check whether Temerity's Barrier appears when you're at full life. If it doesn't, your healing is too low to overheal. Add Life on Kill and swap a ring to Stone of Jordan for resistances.
Fix Wrath problems on Blazing Scream
- Use Infernal Homunculus once you have Elegy, for Lesser Demon Wrath generation.
- Put Tir where your rune setup allows it.
- Temper Lucky Hit: Restore Resource or Resource Generation on 2–3 jewelry pieces.
- Get Wrath Regeneration on boots and pants.
- Swap Anguish for Hellfire splinter if you're running dry.
- Command Fallen for passive Wrath (Farmlock), or Molten Bomb (Maxroll Endgame).
Blazing Scream Warlock Paragon and mercenaries
Guides use different boards, so pick one source and stick with it:
| Source | Boards → glyphs |
|---|---|
| D4Guides | Starter + Eldritch Sight → Demonic Spicules + Demonologist → Ritualism + Unbound → Fathomless + Hellforge → Dynamism + Attrition |
| D4 Forge | Glyphs: Superiority, Attrition, Unbound, Demonologist, Archfiend |
Rules Maxroll applies to every variant:
- Survivability before damage early. Reach each glyph's minimum requirement first instead of maxing it.
- Level glyphs to 50 → 100 → 150 across the set.
- Superiority and Attrition need rank 50 for the Intelligence requirements on boards.
- D4Guides notes the Idol's lava trails count as casting a Sigil, so Ritualism stays active without a Sigil on your bar.
Push your glyphs in the Pit. See our Nightmare Dungeons vs Pit guide, and the Paragon 300 season push guide if you're racing Paragon levels.
Mercenaries:
- Raheir (Bastion) for safety against bosses.
- Varyana (Taste of Flesh) for extra healing early on.
- Aldkin for damage reduction or executing non-elites.
D4Guides runs Subo with Varyana as reinforcement for crit and attack speed.
Blazing Scream rotation for clearing and bosses
Clearing:
- Mount Abodian to ride between packs. It also breaks crowd control and makes you Unstoppable.
- Cast Metamorphosis once. Only recast if Demonform ends.
- Cast Dark Prison in the middle of a pack. Kills inside it reset the cooldown, so casting it early wastes it.
- Use Molten Bomb or Bombardment for resource. In Farmlock and Push, keep Bombardment at 5 stacks.
- Spam Blazing Scream into walls, corridors and tight rooms so skulls bounce and hit again.
Bosses:
- Stack Bombardment if you use it.
- Place Dark Prison on the boss.
- Stand so the boss is between you and a wall, then spam Blazing Scream. Maxroll calls the DPS gain from bounces "noticeable."
- Keep the boss on your lava trails.
Avoid these mistakes
- Recasting Metamorphosis constantly. Cast it once.
- Equipping a non-Mythic Hand of Apotheosis. Use Aspect of Ignition instead.
- Equipping Homunculus without Elegy. Keep Accursed Touch for Vulnerable until then.
- Neglecting Fire Resistance and Max Life. Demonform ends early and you die to your own burn.
- Leaving the lava trails. The Idol bonus only applies on them.
- Relying on the seal bug. Maxroll documents a charm-seal bug (5-piece set plus two unique charms) as developer-acknowledged for this season and only uses it for Tower pushes. It has to be redone every session and could be fixed at any time. Don't build around it.
If you're returning, boosted, or on an alt
- Read our Season 15 tier list first.
- Boosted or carried to 70: You'll have levels but probably no Elegy. Run the Starter variant and farm Elegy before Torment 3+. Destruction Demon without Temerity is the most common way new 70s die on this build.
- Alt Warlock: Uniques and runes on your stash can be shared. Maxroll notes you can only equip one crafted Mythic at a time, so plan which Mythic you craft.
- Late in the season: Blizzard hasn't announced Season 15's end date, and community trackers estimate early December. With weeks rather than months left, focus on Elegy, Homunculus and Temerity rather than chasing Mythic gloves.

FAQ
Is Blazing Scream the best Warlock build in Season 15? It's S tier on Maxroll, InfinityBuilds and D4 Forge, and Maxroll ranks it at the top of its S row. Apocalypse is the other S-tier Warlock option.
Can I play Blazing Scream without Elegy? For leveling, yes. For endgame, not really. D4Guides calls Elegy mandatory because it provides the Archfiend skulls.
Why do I keep dying in Demonform? Destruction Demon burns you constantly. You need Temerity, Sadistic and Undying Aspects, Life on Hit/Kill, high Max Life and high Fire Resistance.
Should I use Hand of Apotheosis? Only at Mythic quality. Maxroll says a non-Mythic pair, or one under 90%, is weaker than Aspect of Ignition.
Is Warlock good in Diablo 4 Season 15? Yes. Warlock has two of Maxroll's ten S-tier endgame builds, Blazing Scream and Apocalypse, after 3.2.1 doubled Brimstone Hunger's bonus cap from 25% to 50%.
Is Blazing Scream good for the Pit and Tower? Yes. Maxroll and D4Guides both have Push variants using Bombardment and Profane Sentinel with Enigma. Aim the skulls at walls so they bounce and hit again.
