How to target-farm it (DiabloFilter):

1. In the Nightmare Dungeon section of your War Plans, take every node up to Branching Pathways. This lets you choose each floor's bonus in an Escalation Nightmare Dungeon and keeps you stocked on Escalation Sigils.
2. Pick Sapphire Reserve on every floor. Sapphires give Cold Resistance, the same as the Splinter of Lies, so Horadric chests on those floors are very likely to drop it. The boss can drop it at up to Legendary quality.
3. Amalgamate in the Horadric Cube: 5 Magic make 1 Rare, 5 Rare make 1 Legendary, and 5 Legendary make 1 Unique.

Mind the drawback. Weakened and Vulnerable together make you deal less damage and take more. Drop a Torment tier if you start dying, because a slower clear with the Splinter can still out-earn a faster one without it.

Example: a Blood Wave Necromancer clears Torment 3 Helltides comfortably but dies twice in ten minutes after socketing a Legendary Splinter of Lies. Dropping to Torment 2 with the Splinter's 80% Gold Drop Rate usually pays more than Torment 3 without it, and the 25% bonus XP keeps Paragon moving. Return to the higher tier once Max Life and resistances catch up.

Helltide gold farming with Pandemonium Ruptures

Pandemonium Ruptures returned to Helltides this season. When activated, they "constantly spawn myriads of enemies" (Icy Veins). The plan: find 2 or more Ruptures stacked together, activate them, and plant Corrupted Roots to draw in even more enemies.

Pair it with Splinters: Icy Veins suggests the Splinter of Lies for gold and materials, and the Splinter of Damnation, which raises Monster Power by 1 after each Elite pack.

Tree of Whispers caches for gold

1. Finish the campaign to unlock the Tree in Hawezar (Icy Veins).
2. Do Whispers: dungeons, events, PvP and Harvest Anima objectives.
3. Return at 10 Grim Favors for XP, gold, Forgotten Souls, Temper Manuals or slot-specific Whisper Caches.

Icy Veins notes that every Helltide gives enough Whispers for 10 Grim Favors. Maxroll ranks the Greater Material Cache from the Tree as the best source of Iron Chunks, Rawhide, Veiled Crystals, Baleful Fragments and Forgotten Souls. That saves gold too, because you don't need to buy or barter for them.

Infernal Hordes gold: Spoils of Gold

• Collect Burning Aether during waves and spend it on the reward chests at the end (Icy Veins).
• Choose Spoils of Gold to turn leftover Aether straight into gold.
• Set the difficulty: the Infernal Compass scales to the World difficulty you choose.
• Infernal Offers between waves let you add risk for more Aether.

Season 15's main mechanic lets you equip one Splinter of Evil at a time. Blizzard's season text (via PureDiablo) ties each to activities. • Sell greater-affix legendaries and uniques to other players.
• Kill loot goblins whenever you see them.
• Use gold shrines. A Greed Shrine raises gold from kills.
• Gamble Obols and sell what you don't keep.
• Renown: each step grants gold.
• Repeat easy events. Icy Veins notes that teleporting to town and back can drop you into a new session where an event has just spawned.
