Quick summary
- What it is: a three-boss Voidstorm dungeon from launch, now in the Season 2 Mythic+ pool. The bosses are Taz'Rah, Atroxus, and Charonus (Method, Wowhead).
- Timer: 30:00 (Wowhead).
- First decision: the opening fork. Going left leads to Aegyra the Unyielding and Proof of Endurance, a Versatility buff. Going right leads to Raj'kess the Spellstorm and Proof of Mastery, a Mastery buff. Each buff lasts 30 minutes, and you can only get one.
- Icy Veins says it "HIGH RECOMMEND[s]" going right.
- Gate: before you can reach Charonus, you must kill all three Devouring Brutalizers (Method). The +10 timed run unlocks the teleport (Icy Veins).
Find it and plan the run
The first-clear quest, Voidscar Arena: Breaking the Triad, opens at level 90.
| Fact | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Bosses | 3 | Method, Wowhead |
| Mythic+ timer | 30:00 | Wowhead |
| Opening fork | Left: Aegyra. Right: Raj'kess | Method, Wowhead |
| Second fork | After Taz'Rah; the right side has Agitated Voidscythe, the left has Watchful Harrower | Method |
| Charonus gate | Kill 3 Devouring Brutalizers | Method |
| Portal | Time at +10 | Icy Veins |
The arena works differently from other dungeons. Method says that after you clear the first wave, mobs spawn as you pull packs, "allowing you to go at whatever pace you choose." Your tank sets the pace.
Choose your mini-boss buff
| Path | Trash mix | Mini-boss | Buff (30 min) | Stat | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left | More Dominated Brawlers | Aegyra the Unyielding | Proof of Endurance | Versatility | Method, Wowhead |
| Right | More Enthralled Shamans | Raj'kess the Spellstorm | Proof of Mastery | Mastery | Method, Wowhead |
Method recommends left "since it requires less interrupts and gives a more generally useful buff." Icy Veins strongly recommends right "as of now current tuning." It calls Mastery "a powerful dungeon-buff which will speed up the dungeon" and Endurance "not-so-great." Wowhead doesn't pick a side: Mastery is "a more offensive bonus," and Versatility is "a comfy defensive boost."
How to choose:
- Pugs and lower keys: go left. You need fewer kicks, and Versatility helps the whole group survive.
- Organized groups chasing time on high keys: consider going right, if your group can reliably kick the Voidtouched Magi and burst the Disruption Orbs.
- Classes that get a lot from Mastery: check your spec's guide on Wowhead or Icy Veins. We don't give stat weights here.
Blizzard's August 18 hotfix changed both Proofs into buffs, so footage from before that date may show them differently. Check your buff bar after the mini-boss dies.
Beat Aegyra (left)
Aegyra is CC-immune (Method).
- Ferocious Leap: puts a bleed on a random player and is always followed by the Earthsplitter AoE. Move toward the outside of the room.
- Champion's Spear: tethers all players. Destroy the spear quickly so the group can spread out for Savage Smash. Icy Veins says to "break from the Champion's Spear root quickly." Blizzard cut the spear's health by 15% on August 18.
- Door bug: on August 13, Blizzard fixed a bug where killing Aegyra during Earthsplitter could leave the door to the arena closed.
Trash on the left:
- Lost Sethrak: dodge Venomous Spit.
- Feral Saberon: Savage Leap hits a random player and causes bleeds.
- Dominated Brawler: kick every Demoralizing Shout. Use soothes or kiting for Bloodsurge stacks.
- Brutal Overseer: CC-immune. Break its shield during Brutal Slams to stop the AoE, and avoid Macestorm.
Beat Raj'kess (right)
Raj'kess is CC-immune (Method).
- Forked Lightning: hits the tank, then jumps to 2 random players.
- Orb of Disruption: switch to the orbs as soon as they spawn and destroy them before their cast finishes. Since August 18, that cast takes 13 seconds (was 15), per Blizzard.
- Thundering Storm: heavy channeled group damage. Healers should plan a cooldown. Icy Veins also says to dodge the Raging Typhoon puddles.
Trash on the right:
- Longtooth Tuskarr: soothe Bolster.
- Voidtouched Magi: CC-immune. Kick every Shadowbolt Volley. Null Eruption targets 2 random players, so move away from the group.
- Enthralled Shaman: use spare kicks on Lava Bolt and kill the Magma Totems.
Clear the arena
| Mob | Key ability | What to do | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sycophantic Tarasek | Melt Armor (stacking, on the tank) | Magic dispel or defensives | Method |
| Chitigoth | Ravenous Swarms, Insidious Aura | CC-immune; dodge the swarms; plan healer cooldowns | Method |
| Raging Raptor | Feral Rage | Soothe | Method |
| Protective Turtle | Shell Guard, then stunned | Stay away during Shell Guard, then burst it | Method, Wowhead |
| Brutok | Fel Steps, Smashing Charge, Head Bash | CC-immune; move it as little as possible; aim the charge at a wall | Method, Wowhead |
| Abducted Drakonid | Fire Spit | Dodge the circles | Method |
| Angry Krolusk | Violent Sand | Kick every cast | Method |
On August 14, Blizzard fixed Brutok's Smashing Charge, which could go through doors. Aiming it at a wall is still the plan (Wowhead).
Beat Taz'Rah
- Nether Dash: a line attack through each player. Method says to spread loosely near the edge of the room while keeping the shades close together, so the Umbral Rupture puddles end up in one spot. Icy Veins says players should stay "closer to each other" to control those puddles. Both are trying to group the puddles. Blizzard made the line visuals turn more smoothly on August 25.
- Void Blast: a tank hit with knockback. Use a defensive and don't get knocked into a puddle (Method).
- Dark Bloom: the puddles fire orbs. After Umbral Rupture, keep moving around the room. On September 1, Blizzard updated the orb visuals to "better match their impact radius."
Choose the second fork
The path toward Atroxus also splits (Method). Before the fork, kick every Mass Shriek, an AoE fear, from the Killvore Screamer. Use tank defensives for the Savage Shredclaw's Shred Defense.
| Side | Lieutenant | Key abilities | Best for | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Right | Agitated Voidscythe | Corrosive Essence (3 players, poison), Rip and Slice (tank bleed) | Groups with multiple poison dispels | Method |
| Left | Watchful Harrower | Sky Strike (stack to split the soak, then run out), Void Beam | Groups without poison dispels | Method |
Watch for Blistercreep on the right side; their death circles are dangerous. Blizzard's August 25 hotfix moved a pack near the Harrower closer to the stairs, so older route videos show it in the wrong place.
Beat Atroxus
- Poison Splash: group damage that leaves puddles. Touching a puddle applies Mind-Numbing Poison (Method).
- Noxious Breath: a frontal aimed at a random player. Stay close to the boss so it's easy to dodge.
- Toxic Creeper: spawns after Monstrous Roar and deals pulsing AoE damage while it's alive. Method says it fixates the tank, who kites it. Each melee hit adds a stack of Sickening Bite, which makes the Hulking Claw tank buster very hard to survive. Icy Veins says to keep the Creeper near Atroxus so the group can cleave both. It also recommends major healing cooldowns at each spawn.
Open the Charonus gate
After Atroxus, the dungeon opens into a large area. Kill all three Devouring Brutalizers to open the arena (Method).
- Devouring Brutalizer: CC-immune. Dreadbellow deals AoE damage and pushes players back, so don't get knocked into another pack. Brutalize is channeled on the tank. When Devour starts, kill the low-health mob it targets before the cast finishes. Wowhead says killing that mob stops the Brutalizer from healing.
- Voidminder: kick or CC Mending Void.
- Scavenging Siphoid: Void Tentacles add shadow damage to their melee hits.
Three of them include a Brutalizer, and the other is a pack with 10 Scavenging Siphoids in the bottom-right corner.
Beat Charonus
- Unstable Singularity: don't let these orbs pull you in. Touching one applies Atomized, and they pulse AoE damage while they last (Method). Icy Veins says to stand where you won't get "drawn" into one.
- Gravitic Orbs: these fixate players and stack Condensed Mass. Kite them through an Unstable Singularity to destroy both (Method, Icy Veins). Wowhead suggests using pings to assign a Singularity to each DPS.
- Cosmic Crash: AoE damage around every player. Spread out loosely.
- Dark Waves: a frontal on the tank. Aim it away from the group.
- Void Cascade: projectiles aimed at a random player. That player runs away from the boss, and the rest of the group moves out of the path.

Know the hotfixes and loot
| Date | Change | Source |

Wowhead lists three trinkets: Mindpiercer's Sigil (Charonus), Void Execution Mandate (Taz'Rah), and Tumor of the Swarm (Atroxus). It also lists the Singularity Slicer warglaives and the Charonic Crescent polearm. Check the in-game Adventure Guide before you farm one specific item. See our housing guide for placing decor and our professions hub for Jewelcrafting.
Avoid the common mistakes
- Going right in a pug that can't kick. You'll face the Magi Volleys and Disruption Orbs without the coordination to handle them.
- Leaving Champion's Spear up. Savage Smash punishes a group that's still tethered.
- Pulling the arena too fast. Mobs spawn as you pull, so the pace is up to you.
- Melee-ing the Toxic Creeper. Each hit makes the tank buster more dangerous.
- Forgetting a Brutalizer. The gate to Charonus stays shut until all three are dead.
- Touching a Singularity. Kite the Gravitic Orbs into one, but don't touch it yourself.
Run it on alts or after a break
- Returning for 12.1.5: Blizzard made the Proofs buffs on August 18 and changed Aegyra's spear and Raj'kess' orbs the same day, so tips written before then are out of date. From October 20, +10 runs drop Venomstones (Blizzard, via our Season 2 Mythic+ guide).
- Alts: each character unlocks its own +10 teleport (Icy Veins). Jewelcrafters can farm Charonus for the design.
- Pushing: see our push guide. Our Blinding Vale and Murder Row guides cover two more dungeons in the pool.
