THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • TBC Anniversary has two world bosses: Doom Lord Kazzak in Hellfire Peninsula and Doomwalker in Shadowmoon Valley.
  • Since October 22, 2026, both drop Badges of Justice, and their loot is Bind on Equip instead of Bind on Pickup (Blizzard).
  • Kazzak is a damage race. He sits in the Throne of Kil'jaeden, around 63.2, 16.0, and enrages after 54 seconds (Wowhead). You need flying or a Warlock summon to reach him.
  • Doomwalker is a tank and spread fight outside the Black Temple. Stay 10 yards apart for Lightning Wrath, bring at least three tanks, and burn him from 20%.
  • Plan for a full raid. Wowhead recommends 30–40 players in heroic or Karazhan gear, fewer with better gear. Each boss respawns 2–4 days after a kill.

This TBC Anniversary world bosses guide covers both bosses as they work in Phase 3.5, the Zul'Aman update that went live on October 22, 2026. Blizzard's update notes made both world bosses worth killing again for geared raids: the loot can now be traded or sold, and every kill pays badges.

What changed for world bosses on October 22

Change Before October 22 Since October 22
Loot binding Bind on Pickup Bind on Equip
Badges of Justice Not from world bosses Kazzak and Doomwalker drop them
Black Temple and Hyjal Attunement required No attunement
Zul'Aman Not open Open, with a 3-day lockout

Blizzard says the bosses "are now more eager to share their spoils." With Bind on Equip loot, a kill can gear an alt or pay for consumables through the Auction House. Blizzard doesn't say how many badges each boss drops. Our Zul'Aman guide covers the rest of the update.

Doom Lord Kazzak guide: abilities and strategy

Ability What it does Counter
Void Bolt Shadow damage on the top-threat target that ignores armor Heal the main tank
Cleave Hits everything in front of him Melee stand behind
Thunderclap Nature AoE that slows melee attack speed Dispel or cleanse
Twisted Reflection Heals Kazzak whenever the debuffed player takes damage Top dispel priority. Priests can Mass Dispel
Mark of Kazzak Drains mana, then explodes Run away from the raid. Mages can Ice Block
Capture Soul Heals him for 150,000 per nearby death Don't let anyone die near him
Shadow Bolt Volley Shadow damage within 60 yards that ignores line of sight Raid healing
Enrage At 54 seconds, he casts volleys back to back Kill him before 54 seconds

Plan: pull where he spawns, set threat, then use Bloodlust or Heroism and every damage cooldown. Dispel Twisted Reflection on sight. Wowhead's fallback if you miss the timer is for the raid to run out while several Paladins use Divine Shield and heal the tank, then come back. Warriors should save Shield Wall and Rogues Cloak of Shadows for the Enrage.

On PvP realms, rival players can die near Kazzak on purpose to heal him through Capture Soul (Wowhead). Clear the area before you pull.

Doomwalker guide: abilities and strategy

Ability What it does Counter
Lightning Wrath Chain Nature damage that doubles each time it bounces to a player within 10 yards Spread 10+ yards apart
Crush Armor −10% tank armor per stack, up to 10 stacks Taunt-swap between tanks
Earthquake 8-second raid stun HoTs and Power Word: Shield on tanks beforehand
Overrun Charges a random player and wipes threat A backup tank taunts at once. Blessing of Protection helps
Enrage (20%) Doubles his physical damage Tank cooldowns, then burn
Mark of Death / Aura of Death Players who die get Mark of Death, and coming back kills them Don't die. If you do, wait 15 minutes

Plan: stand in a wide circle, keep three tanks ready and save healing cooldowns for the 20% Enrage. Wowhead notes a Holy Priest can still heal for 15 seconds after dying, through Spirit of Redemption. Our healer and tank tier list explains which tanks have the cooldowns for the Enrage.

World boss raid size and composition

Role Kazzak Doomwalker
Tanks 1–2, with Shield Wall saved for the Enrage At least 3 for swaps and Overrun
Healers Plenty of dispellers: Priests and Paladins HoT healers, cooldowns saved for 20%
DPS Burst early, Bloodlust on pull Burst at 20%
Size 30–40 heroic- or Karazhan-geared level 70s Same

Most Anniversary raiders now wear Black Temple, Hyjal or Zul'Aman gear. Wowhead says fewer players are needed as gear improves, so a well-geared 25-player raid is a reasonable place to start. Test it on a quiet spawn before you rely on it.

The loot tables are from Wowhead, Warcraft Tavern and Icy Veins, and all three list the same 20 items. The "who still wants it" column counts where each item appears on Wowhead's current best-in-slot lists for Black Temple, Hyjal and Zul'Aman, which Wowhead calls "Phase 4". With Bind on Equip loot, the items those lists still use are the ones worth putting in your loot rules.

Find the boss and get the tag

  1. Park scouts. Icy Veins suggests leaving an alt on the north side of Kazzak's platform, out of his line of sight, and one in the southern corner of the Doomwalker area.
  2. Prepare summoners. Kazzak needs flying, so plan Warlock summons for anyone without it. Our flying mount guide covers riding training and costs.
  3. Get the tag. If the boss portrait is red, your raid has it. Grey means another group does, and only the tagging raid gets loot.
  4. Set loot rules first. Bind on Equip loot is tradeable, so decide on rolls, a guild bank or sales before the pull.
  5. Check the respawn window. After a kill, a boss is back 2–4 days later, so scouts only need to watch from day two.

Spend the badges

Each kill now pays Badges of Justice (Blizzard). Spend them on G'eras's new stock in Shattrath. Our badge gear guide lists the best buys for each role, and our Zul'Aman loot guide covers the raid that opened the same day.

Avoid these world boss mistakes

  • Saving cooldowns on Kazzak. The fight is a 54-second race, so use everything early (Wowhead).
  • Stacking at Doomwalker. Lightning Wrath doubles with each bounce within 10 yards.
  • Running back after a death at Doomwalker. Mark of Death means Aura of Death kills you when you return.
  • Pulling without a tag check. If the portrait is grey, another raid owns the loot.
  • No loot rules for Bind on Equip items. Agree on them before the pull.

Alts and returning players

  • Alts: Bind on Equip loot can go straight to an alt, so items like Gold-Leaf Wildboots become catch-up gear. Our fresh 70 catch-up guide shows where they fit.
  • Returning players: Doomwalker's area is reachable on foot, but Kazzak's needs flying (Wowhead). Our gems and enchants guide covers what to put on new pieces.

Raid services from independent sellers are listed on the TBC Anniversary raids page, and other guides and services are on the TBC Anniversary hub. Blizzard's End User License Agreement restricts account sharing and paid in-game services, and a marketplace listing isn't publisher permission.
