TBC Anniversary Karazhan Raid Guide: Phase 3.5 Bosses and Loot
TBC Anniversary Karazhan raid guide for Phase 3.5: no attunement, boss order, all 11 bosses by role, trash, badges per clear, T4 loot and a 10-man comp.

In this guide 12 sections
Quick summary
- No attunement needed. Blizzard removed previous-phase raid attunements when Phase 3 went live on August 27, 2026.
- Every boss drops Badges of Justice since October 22, 2026 (Blizzard's Zul'Aman update). A full clear now pays for G'eras gear as well as giving its own loot.
- 10 players, 11 bosses, weekly lockout. Moroes, the Opera Event, The Curator, the Chess Event and Prince Malchezaar are required to reach Prince. The other six are optional.
- Quick clear: Moroes, Opera, Curator, Chess, Prince. Full clear: all 11, including Nightbane if summoned.
- Bring two tanks, two or three healers and five or six DPS, with at least one Priest (Shackle Undead) and one Warlock (Terestian imps).
- Loot for fresh 70s: T4 gloves (Curator), T4 helm (Prince), the Mongoose, Soulfrost and Sunfire enchant formulas, and Attumen's mount.
This TBC Anniversary Karazhan raid guide is current for Phase 3.5, the Zul'Aman update that went live on October 22, 2026. Karazhan is still the first raid most fresh, boosted and alt 70s run. Blizzard's update notes made it more worthwhile for geared players too, because every boss now drops Badges of Justice.
What changed for Karazhan in Phase 3.5
- Badges from every boss. Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep and Zul'Aman bosses all drop Badges of Justice now. A full clear is one of the steadiest badge sources in the game. Our badge gear guide covers what to spend them on.
- Easier heroics. Heroic keys only need Honored, and heroics were moved to their final, easier tuning. That makes it faster to reach Karazhan-ready gear.
- No attunement anywhere before Sunwell. Black Temple and Hyjal attunements were removed too, so a Karazhan-geared character can step straight into Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon and Zul'Aman.
Get into Karazhan
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Level | 68 minimum, 70 recommended (Warcraft Tavern) |
| Attunement | Not needed since Phase 3 (Wowhead news). The Master's Key chain is still optional and starts with Archmage Alturus in Deadwind Pass |
| Gate | If the front gate is shut, a player with The Master's Key can open it for the group |
| Alliance travel | Fly to Darkshire, then ride east into Deadwind Pass |
| Horde travel | Fly to Stonard, then ride west into Deadwind Pass |
| Entrance | Gated crypt in south Deadwind Pass, summoning stone nearby. A side entrance opens after the Opera Event |
Want the key anyway? Do Alturus's two quests, then Dalaran Crater, then Khadgar in Shattrath. Get fragments from Shadow Labyrinth (after Murmur), The Steamvault (near Hydromancer Thespia) and The Arcatraz (the voidwalker room past Zereketh), then finish in The Black Morass. Warcraft Tavern's Karazhan attunement guide says the attunement is account-wide in Anniversary, and the chain continues into the Karazhan quest line that leads to the Nightbane summon. Our dungeons guide shows where each of those dungeons is.
Karazhan boss order: pick your route
| Route | Order | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Quick clear | Moroes → Opera → Curator → Chess → Prince | Short on time, or an alt that only needs the T4 helm and gloves |
| Full clear | Attumen → Moroes → Maiden → Opera → Nightbane* → Curator → Terestian → Shade of Aran → Netherspite → Chess → Prince | Loot runs, guild clears, gearing a fresh 70 |
*Nightbane needs the Karazhan quest line summon. Weaker groups kill him last, after Prince (Warcraft Tavern). Killing Shade of Aran unlocks Berthold's teleport to his room, which saves time on later visits. Trash packs often respawn about 30 minutes after you clear them if their boss is still alive, so pull the boss promptly.
Build the raid
| Role | Count | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tanks | 2 | Off-tank for Attumen's Midnight, Moroes adds, Curator's Hateful Bolt, Netherspite's red beam |
| Healers | 2–3 | Two works for practiced groups; three for Nightbane |
| DPS | 5–6 | A melee and ranged mix, with one extra ranged |
| Must have | Priest, Warlock | Shackle Undead for trash and Moroes; Warlock for Terestian's imps |
| Nice to have | Druid, Shaman or Paladin | Decurse, Tremor Totem against fears, and buffs |
Gear target: level 70 dungeon blues or better, plus any Gruul's Lair or Magtheridon pieces. Bring flasks or elixirs, food, potions and bandages, because 10-player raids feel every missing consumable. Our gems and enchants guide covers upgrades. Not sure which tank or healer to bring? Our healer and tank tier list explains what each spec adds to a 10-player raid.

Know the three Opera Event versions
The Opera Event picks one of three plays for your raid lockout, and it stays the same until the reset:
- Big Bad Wolf: the Wolf turns a random player into Red Riding Hood. That player runs in a wide circle around the stage while the raid keeps damaging the Wolf.
- Romulo and Julianne: you kill Julianne, then Romulo, then both at once. They have to die within about 10 seconds of each other, or the one left alive revives the other.
- Wizard of Oz: four characters come out at once. Kill Dorothee first, then Tito, Roar and Strawman, then Tinhead. The Crone appears last. Fire spells briefly disorient Strawman, so Mages and Warlocks should take him.
Our addons guide lists boss-timer addons that call out the Opera play and Shade of Aran's specials.
Handle the dangerous trash
| Mob | Threat | Answer (Icy Veins) |
|---|---|---|
| Spectral Charger | Charge, fear | Stack behind; Tremor Totem or Fear Ward |
| Spectral Retainer | Mind control (Oath of Fealty) | Kill first in Ballroom packs |
| Skeletal Waiter | Brittle Bones drops armor to 0 | Kill quickly; watch tank health |
| Wanton Hostess | Silence, physical/spell damage auras | Ranged and healers stay at max range |
| Skeletal Usher | Ice Tomb wipes top threat | Off-tank second on threat |
| Arcane Protector | Return Fire reflects one damage type | Big tank heals; stop if you're low |
| Mana Feeder | Immune to magic | Physical DPS only |
| Mana Warp | Warp Breach on death | Stun before the cast finishes |
| Ethereal Thief | Cleave, disarm, threat drop | Face away; pull one at a time |
| Greater Fleshbeast | Thrash can one-shot tanks | Cooldowns and pre-heals |

Gear a fresh 70 in four lockouts
| Week | Plan |
|---|---|
| 1 | Quick clear plus Attumen and Maiden. Fill in with heroic dungeons |
| 2 | Add Terestian and Shade of Aran, and unlock the teleport |
| 3 | Add Netherspite, a full clear |
| 4 | Add Nightbane after the summon quest, then move to Zul'Aman prep |
Spend the badges from these clears at G'eras as you go. Our fresh 70 catch-up guide shows how Karazhan fits with heroics, Gruul, Magtheridon and Zul'Aman.
Avoid these mistakes
- Skipping the Opera variant check. Look at who appears and use that strategy.
- Moving during Flame Wreath. It wipes the raid.
- Letting trash respawn. Pull the boss within about 30 minutes.
- No Priest. Shackle makes trash and Moroes far easier.
- Pulling Nightbane early. Weaker groups kill him last.
Return, boost, or level an alt
- Returning player. No attunement is needed now. Run the quick clear for T4 tokens, then full clears for badges.
- Boosted character. Get dungeon blues first, then quick clears. Our heroic dungeons and keys guide covers the fastest way to dungeon blues.
- Alt. Run quick clears for the T4 helm and gloves, and save time with the Aran teleport.
- Geared main. A full clear is now a badge run. Pair it with the world bosses, which also drop badges since October 22. Our Kazzak and Doomwalker guide covers where they spawn.
