THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • Tier 6 drops as Forgotten tokens, not armor. Conqueror covers Paladin, Priest and Warlock. Vanquisher covers Druid, Mage and Rogue. Protector covers Hunter, Shaman and Warrior (Wowhead).
  • Five slots drop in Phase 3. Hyjal gives gloves (Azgalor) and the helm (Archimonde). Black Temple gives shoulders (Mother Shahraz), legs (Illidari Council) and the chest (Illidan). Trade tokens at Tydormu outside Hyjal Summit.
  • Bracers, belt and boots come later, from Sunwell Plateau. Warcraft Tavern lists Sunwell as Phase 5, due Autumn 2026 with no date yet.
  • Not every spec wants four pieces: Arcane Mages keep four-piece Tier 5, and Restoration Druids and Retribution Paladins don't force the set either.
  • Zul'Aman's Oct 22 patch removes the Hyjal and Black Temple attunements (Blizzard). Alts can start collecting tokens without the attunement chain.

Match your class to a token

Token group Classes Shares with
Forgotten Conqueror Paladin, Priest, Warlock Two caster-heavy classes plus Paladins of every spec
Forgotten Vanquisher Druid, Mage, Rogue Leather, cloth and a hybrid
Forgotten Protector Hunter, Shaman, Warrior Mail users and Warriors

Hybrid classes pick their version at the vendor. Druids, Paladins and Shamans have three sets, Priests and Warriors two (Wowhead). So a Paladin's Conqueror token can become Holy, Protection or Retribution gear.

Plan the swap from Tier 5

The big decision isn't which T6 piece to get. It's when to break your Tier 5 bonus. That gives three paths:

Path How to swap
Rush T6 four-piece Wear T5 four-piece until you hold two T6 pieces. Then run T5 two-piece plus T6 two-piece until you get T6 four-piece.
Keep T5 Take only T6 pieces that don't break your T5 four-piece. Swap once several strong off pieces can replace T5 together.
Pick and choose Treat T6 pieces as single items. Compare each one's stats with the off piece for that slot.

Example: you're a Fire Mage with four Tier 5 pieces. You win the Tempest gloves from Azgalor and the shoulders from Shahraz. Wear T5 helm and chest with the T6 gloves and shoulders. That's two-piece of each tier, so you keep both 2-piece bonuses.

For the gem and socket side of that swap, our gems and enchants guide covers socket bonuses and meta gem rules. A broken meta gem can cost more than a set bonus.

Choose a token priority system

System How it works Strengths Weaknesses
Biggest gain first Tokens go to the player who gains the most from a completed bonus. The raid gets the most from each drop Needs someone to judge gains, and players can disagree
Loot council Officers decide each drop Can follow the raid's needs, such as healers first Trust problems in a pug
Points (DKP or similar) Players bid points earned by attending Rewards attendance Slow to complete key sets
Roll Everyone who can use it rolls Simple for pugs Arcane Mages and Enhancement Shamans may take a token they won't wear yet

Give a token where it completes a bonus, not just where it's the biggest single upgrade.

Get your tokens faster

  • Clear both raids every week. The five Phase 3 slots are split three to Black Temple and two to Hyjal.
  • Learn the token bosses first. Our Black Temple guide covers Mother Shahraz, the Illidari Council and Illidan.
  • Spend Badges of Justice on off pieces. From Oct 22, Blizzard's Zul'Aman notes say Badges of Justice drop from more bosses. Our badge guide covers what to buy.
  • Check your class's ranking. Our Phase 3 class tier list covers where each spec stands.

If you're returning, boosted, or on an alt

  • Returning for Phase 3? Start with the token table above, then read the swap advice below for whether to keep Tier 5.
  • Leveling an alt into T6? From Oct 22 you won't need the Hyjal or Black Temple attunement (Blizzard). Your alt can join a token run as soon as its gear can handle it. Our Zul'Aman prep guide covers the rest of that patch.
  • Boosted or bought a raid spot? Make sure the raid's loot rules say who gets tokens before you go. Our TBC Anniversary hub lists FullBoosts' service categories.
