Quick summary
- What it is: a three-boss Zul'Aman dungeon from launch, added to the Mythic+ pool in Season 2. The bosses are The Hoardmonger, Sentinel of Winter, and Nalorakk (Method). The timer is 32:00 (Wowhead).
- Gate: the first boss only appears after you collect 6 offerings: berries, fish, or barrels of apples.
- Buffs: Warding Incense gives 5% Versatility; Druids in Bear Form or players with 25 Midnight Alchemy can use it. Rune of Anchoring cuts knockbacks and pushes by 50%; Night Elves, Trolls, and bear Druids can use it (Method, Blizzard).
- Last boss: wall off Zul'jarra from the charging echoes. Stand behind her shield during Overwhelming Onslaught (Method, Icy Veins).
- Teleport: time it at +10 or higher (Icy Veins).

Wowhead notes its timers are "based on the PTR." New to keys? Start with our first key checklist.
Grab the offerings and buffs
There are two Warding Incense in the first area (Method). Blizzard's August 18 hotfix raised the buff to 5% Versatility (from 3%), gave it to every ally in the instance, and made it last through death. The Snowworn Provisions are on the right side, about halfway through the Harsh Winds gauntlet. An Alchemist alt can supply the Incense; see our professions page.
Offerings come from berry bushes, fishing spots, and apple barrels. Keen-Eyed Strikers can steal offerings: kick their Scavenge when they're near a bush.
Clear the Hoardmonger trash
| Mob | What to do | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Keen-Eyed Striker | Kick Scavenge near bushes. Razor Dive is a bleed that stacks, so use a defensive or a bleed cleanse | Method, Icy Veins |
| Thornclaw Gatherer | Shredding Claws stacks and lowers the tank's armor. Avoid Rotten Supplies puddles (cooldown raised to 17 s on Aug 25) | Method, Blizzard |
| Earthwhisper Tender | Kick every Healing Breeze, which heals nearby mobs too. Purge if you miss one. Two were removed from the first area on Aug 25 | Method, Icy Veins, Blizzard |
| Spirit of Hunger | Can't be CC'd. Kill the Starvation Effigy fast. Remove Insatiable Hunger with curse dispels (5 stacks max since Aug 18) | Method, Blizzard |
| Territorial Matriarch | Gets Mother's Wrath when a cub dies. Soothe it or use an Enrage dispel | Method, Icy Veins |
Beat The Hoardmonger: pick the piles
At 90%, 70%, and 40% health, the boss uses Resourceful Measures. It runs to the nearest unused pile and powers up one of its abilities (Method).
| Pile | Powers up | Order |
|---|---|---|
| Meat | Ravenous Bellow becomes Hearty Bellow, adding a knockback to the AoE and DoT | 1st |
| Bone | Earthshatter Slam becomes Bonespike Slam, adding area denial | 2nd |
| Mushroom | Spoiled Supplies spawns more Rotten Mushroom soaks | 3rd (last) |
Soak each Rotten Mushroom within its 12-second timer, or it triggers Putrid Burst. Icy Veins says Putrid Burst "leads to a wipe." Every soak adds a stack of Toxic Spores poison, so dispel it. Healers should use cooldowns on Ravenous Bellow (Icy Veins).
Cross the Harsh Winds and beat Sentinel of Winter
In the snow, hide from the Harsh Winds behind terrain where there's no snow on the ground (Method).
- Frostfang: Bloodrush makes its first 10 seconds dangerous. Terra Rumbler: kill it while Rumbling Ward is up. Frigid Mauler: kick every Frigid Roar.
- Glacial Revenant: dispel Cryo Surge. Avatar of Determination (can't be CC'd): break the Glacial Tomb roots before the next Pulverize (Method, Icy Veins).
- The Winter Squall (can't be CC'd): Harsh Winter pulses damage until it dies, and killing it stops the Harsh Winds. Since September 9, pets can damage it (Blizzard).
Sentinel of Winter: the arena floor is ice, so you'll slide.
- Dispel Glacial Torment.
- Stack up to bait the Raging Squall tornadoes, then rotate around the room together.
- Kick Winter's Shroud on the Fractured Shivercore adds. When one dies, it turns into a snow pile and fires a Rimeshatter soak; one player should take it.
- Icy Veins says the Snowdrift a Shivercore leaves behind makes you immune to forced movement. Time a Shivercore kill for Frozen Tempest, and keep the boss near the piles (Icy Veins, Method).
Beat Nalorakk: build the wall
Trash first: kick Stormbound Mystic's Arc Lightning and kill Ruthless Totemcaller's Magma Totems. Grizzled Warbringer (can't be CC'd) casts Primal Echo, so plan defensives. Soothe Bonded Beasttamer's Bestial Wrath. Loa Speaker Nanea (can't be CC'd) needs a kick rotation on Lightning Bolt. Drop her Earthquake puddles out of the way and break her Volatile Totems (Method).
- Echoing Maul marks 3 players, and each one leaves an Echo after a delay. Drop them together, near older echoes or in a nearby corner (Icy Veins). Don't get close to an echo, or it hits you with Spectral Slash.
- Overwhelming Onslaught: Zul'jarra jumps behind the tank and puts up a shield, and the whole group stands behind it. The tank should never have their back to an echo. After the knockback, the tank runs back to soak Forceful Slam.
- Fury of the War God: surround Zul'jarra in the middle so the charging echoes hit players instead of her. Each one you block costs you some Echoing Fury damage (Method, Icy Veins). If she gets hit, she casts Demoralizing Scream.
Blizzard fixed Echoing Maul "sometimes trigger[ing] unintentionally" on September 10.
Pick a route
| Option | Strengths | Weak points | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Method MDT route (wago.io/b69_rKkRL) | Import it and everyone sees the same pulls | Needs the addon | Method |
| Lindormi's Guidance (+2 to +5) | Highlights certain enemies | Ended runs short of forces until the Sep 21 fix | Blizzard |
Assign kicks
| Cast | Mob | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Healing Breeze | Earthwhisper Tender | Method, Icy Veins |
| Scavenge (near bushes) | Keen-Eyed Striker | Method |
| Frigid Roar | Frigid Mauler | Method |
| Winter's Shroud | Fractured Shivercore | Method, Icy Veins |
| Arc Lightning | Stormbound Mystic | Method, Icy Veins |
| Lightning Bolt (rotation) | Loa Speaker Nanea | Method, Icy Veins |

Know the hotfixes and loot
| Date (2026) | Change | Source |
|---|---|---|
| August 18 | Warding Incense buffed to 5%, gives it to all allies, lasts through death. Insatiable Hunger capped at 5 stacks. Barrel of Apples fix | Blizzard |
| August 25 | Two Earthwhisper Tenders removed from the first area. Rotten Supplies cooldown 17 s (was 14) | Blizzard |

| September 9 | Pets can damage The Winter Squall | Blizzard |

The trinkets are Mycolic Medicine (Hoardmonger), Permafrost Essence (Sentinel), and Idol of the War Loa (Nalorakk). Nalorakk also drops Formula: Enchant Chest - Mark of Nalorakk and the Amani Ritual Altar decor (see our housing guide). Our Season 2 Mythic+ guide covers item levels by key level.
Avoid the common mistakes
- Pulling the boss area before you have 6 offerings. The Hoardmonger won't appear until you do. Strikers that get to Scavenge steal offerings from bushes (Method).
- Letting the mushroom pile go first. More Rotten Mushrooms early means more Toxic Spores stacks for the rest of the fight (Method's pile order).
- Running into the open during Harsh Winds. Wait behind cover where there's no snow, or kill The Winter Squall.
- Using up every Shivercore early on Sentinel. Icy Veins says not to kill one "too quickly." Save its Snowdrift for Frozen Tempest.
- Tanking Nalorakk with your back to an echo. Overwhelming Onslaught puts Zul'jarra's shield behind you, so the group ends up standing inside the echoes.
Run it on alts or after a break
- Returning for 12.1.5: the six hotfixes above made the opening easier. Season 1 videos show the 3% Incense and more Tenders. From October 20, +10 runs drop Venomstones (Blizzard, via our Mythic+ guide).
- Alts: a Troll or Night Elf alt, or a Druid, gets the Rune. A 25 Alchemy alt gets the Incense. Each character unlocks its own teleport at +10 (Icy Veins).
- Renown: Zul'jarra's Forces is the Season 2 renown on the Coiled Isle (Wowhead, via our Coiled Isle guide); see our Renown guide. For another Season 2 dungeon, see our Altar of Fangs guide.
