Best TBC Anniversary Addons: Phase 3.5 Setup by Role and Class
Best TBC Anniversary addons for Phase 3.5: install to the _anniversary_ folder, the core six, and Zul'Aman, Black Temple, PvP and class picks.

In this guide 13 sections
Quick summary
- The best TBC Anniversary addons for most players are Questie, one boss mod (DBM or BigWigs with its Burning Crusade pack), Details!, WeakAuras, Leatrix Plus, and Auctionator. Add role and class tools only when you need them.
- Install into
_anniversary_, not_classic_era_. Anniversary has its own client folder, and each addon needs its Classic TBC file. - Phase 3.5 raiders (Zul'Aman, Black Temple, Hyjal) add one assignment tool such as Method Raid Tools plus encounter WeakAuras. Since October 22, BT and Hyjal no longer need attunement, so an attunement tracker matters only for heroic keys.
- Run one boss mod, never two, and download only from CurseForge, Wago, or the author's GitHub.
This guide covers the Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms (client 2.5.x) as of the Zul'Aman update. It does not cover retail, Classic Era, or private servers, where addon files differ.
How to install addons in TBC Anniversary
- Close the game.
- Download the Classic TBC file (sometimes labeled Burning Crusade Classic) from CurseForge, Wago, or the project's GitHub. Or point your addon manager (CurseForge app, WowUp) at the Anniversary install.
- Extract into the
_anniversary_folder:- Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_anniversary_\Interface\AddOns - macOS:
/Applications/World of Warcraft/_anniversary_/Interface/AddOns
- Windows:
- Check the folder structure. Each addon folder should contain its
.tocfile directly, not another folder of the same name. - At character select, click AddOns and enable them for that character. If a working addon shows as out of date, tick "Load out of date AddOns" for that session, then update it.
- Configure it in game with the addon's slash command (for example
/questie,/details,/wa). Then type/reload.
Moving from Classic Era? Back up both folders first. Copied settings in WTF carry over only if the account, realm, and character names match.
Example: your Details! window is missing after you copy addons over. Check the AddOns list at character select. If Details! shows "out of date," you copied the Era build, so download the Classic TBC file and replace it.
Best TBC Anniversary addons: the core six
| Job | Addon | What it does | Who can skip it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Questing | Questie | Shows quest givers, objectives, and turn-ins on the map and minimap | Players already using a guide addon who want a clean map |
| Boss timers | DBM (Core plus Burning Crusade mods) or BigWigs (plus Burning Crusade pack) | Timers and warnings for dungeons and raids | Nobody who runs group content |
| Combat log | Details! Damage Meter | Damage, healing, deaths, interrupts, dispels, and damage taken | Nobody; open the Deaths view after every wipe |
| Alerts | WeakAuras | Custom alerts for procs, cooldowns, buffs, and mechanics | Players who won't set it up (NugRunning is a lighter timer bar) |
| Quality of life | Leatrix Plus | Optional faster looting, auto-repair, junk selling, and UI tweaks | Nobody; every module starts off |
| Auction House | Auctionator | Fast searches, shopping lists, and posting | Gold makers already running TradeSkillMaster |
This table is a starting point, not a complete list. Pick one tool per job and stop there until you notice a gap.
Leveling, map and quality-of-life addons
| Need | Addon(s) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Leveling routes | RestedXP, FatDadXP (free 1–70, both factions) | RestedXP's base addon is free; some of its routes are paid |
| Moving frames | MoveAny | Moves and scales almost any default frame |
| Rares and treasures | RareScanner | Alerts and map pins for rare spawns; useful for leveling and farming |
| Loot | AtlasLoot, Improved Loot Frame | Where an item drops, and a cleaner loot window |
| Vendors | Krowi's Extended Vendor UI | Larger vendor window, handy at badge and reputation vendors |
| Gear sets | ItemRack | Swap PvE, PvP, and resistance sets |
| Action bars | Bartender4 | Move, resize, and hide bars |
| Map | Leatrix Maps | Reveals the map, shows coordinates and dungeon icons |
| Nameplates | Plater | For tanks and interrupters; start with the default profile |
| Attunements and keys | Attune (/attune) |
Since October 22, Black Temple and Hyjal need no attunement; still tracks heroic key reputation |
A fast route matters more than the addon that shows it. Our TBC Anniversary leveling guide 1–70 covers the zones; pair it with Questie or one guide addon, not both with every marker on.
Best TBC Anniversary raid addons for Phase 3.5
Zul'Aman opened on October 22, 2026, and the same update removed the Black Temple and Hyjal attunements and made heroic dungeons easier (Icy Veins). A raid-night stack for the current tier:
- One boss mod with its Burning Crusade content pack. The core alone gives no Zul'Aman, Black Temple, or Hyjal timers.
- WeakAuras, grouped by encounter:
| Encounter | What your auras should track |
|---|---|
| Zul'Aman timed run | Time left on the 20-minute clock, which hostages are saved, who carries the bear |
| Nalorakk, Akil'zon | Bear/troll form swap, Electrical Storm group-up |
| Jan'alai, Halazzi | Fire bombs and hatchers, totem kill call |
| Hex Lord Malacrass, Zul'jin | Siphoned ability, interrupt order, phase changes |
| Hyjal trash and Archimonde | Wave number, next-wave timer, Doomfire, Air Burst, Tears of the Goddess reminder |
| Naj'entus, Supremus, Teron Gorefiend | Impaling Spine, fixate, volcano, Shadow of Death |
| Gurtogg Bloodboil, Mother Shahraz | Bloodboil soak group, Fel Rage, Fatal Attraction |
| Illidari Council, Illidan | Interrupt order, Parasitic Shadowfiend, phase transitions |
- One assignment tool. Method Raid Tools handles shared notes, cooldowns, and interrupt orders. RaidHelper_TBC draws boss assignments. Nova Raid Companion checks consumables, durability, and resistances. The raid leader picks one main board.
- Test before the pull. Run the boss mod's test bars, type
/wato check that each aura loads in the right zone, and delete imported auras with custom code you can't read.
The timer rules and boss order are in our Zul'Aman guide, and the encounter list for the next tier is in the Sunwell Plateau guide. Earlier raids such as Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon need the same pack plus a cube-click assignment.
Example: your guild's Bloodboil soak rotation keeps failing. Put the three soak groups in a Method Raid Tools note, add a WeakAura that shows "Your group: soak next" only to that group, and check Details! Deaths after the attempt.
TBC Anniversary class addons
Most class tools are WeakAura imports, so install WeakAuras first, then paste the import string into /wa and click Import.
| Class | Useful addons or aura types |
|---|---|
| Druid | A form and mana bar aura, Decursive for curse and poison removal |
| Hunter | An auto-shot swing timer, an ammo and pet happiness reminder |
| Mage | Proc and cooldown auras, a range display |
| Paladin | PallyPower for blessing assignments, a Salvation-removal tool for tanks |
| Priest | Shadowfiend and mana cooldown reminders, Power Infusion tracking |
| Rogue | Energy ticker, poison and Expose Armor tracking |
| Shaman | ShamanPower for totem coordination, a swing timer for Enhancement |
| Warlock | Curse assignment and soul shard tracking, a Nightfall proc aura |
| Warrior | Swing timer, Battle Shout and Sunder Armor reminders |
ShamanPower lists a Classic TBC file for the Anniversary client on CurseForge. For other packs, confirm the file is tagged Classic TBC before you install. Spec choices behind these tools are in the Druid guide and the DPS tier list.
Choose a setup by player type
| You are | Install | Skip for now |
|---|---|---|
| A new player leveling 1–70 | Questie or a guide addon, Leatrix Plus, Details!, a boss mod, MoveAny, Auctionator | ElvUI, TSM, raid tools |
| A heroic dungeon tank | Core six, plus Plater, ThreatClassic2, OmniCC | Gladdy |
| A Phase 3.5 raider | Core six, plus the BC boss pack, encounter WeakAuras, Method Raid Tools, ItemRack, Pawn | Leveling guides |
| A raid leader | Raider stack, plus RaidHelper_TBC or Nova Raid Companion, Gargul for pug loot | Duplicate boss mods |
| A gold farmer | Auctionator or TSM, GatherMate2, RareScanner, Leatrix Plus | Raid tools |
| An Arena player | Gladdy Classic, Plater, OmniCC, Details! | Questie on your PvP character |
Gold makers can match these tools to the routes in the TBC Anniversary gold farming guide. Arena players should read the PvP arena comps guide before building a UI around one comp.
Should you use addons at all?
Yes for group content: boss timers and a combat log are standard in raids, and raid leaders often expect them. For solo leveling the default UI works, and a lighter setup keeps frame rates up in crowded zones. Blizzard allows addons that use its interface API; anything that automates play or comes from an unknown mirror is a different matter, so stick to the major download sites.
Fix common addon problems
- An addon doesn't show. Check that its folder sits directly in
AddOns, then enable it at character select. - "Out of date" or Lua errors. Install the Classic TBC file, not the Era or retail one.
- Double timers and sounds. DBM and BigWigs are both loaded. Disable one.
- Low FPS in 25-player raids. Disable leveling and gathering addons on raid characters and remove unused WeakAuras.
- Lost settings. Restore your backed-up
WTFfolder.
Avoid these mistakes
- Running DBM and BigWigs together.
- Installing a boss-mod core without the Burning Crusade pack.
- Importing a full UI profile you don't understand right before raid night.
- Turning on every Leatrix Plus auto-sell option without reading it.
- Using Questie and a guide addon together with every marker visible, which clutters the map.
- Downloading addon ZIPs from unknown mirrors.
Return, boost, or set up an alt
- Returning player. Copy your old
WTFfolder only after the addons are updated. Then delete settings for addons you no longer use. - Boosted or fresh level 70. Skip leveling addons. Install the core six, the BC boss pack, Pawn, and ItemRack, then follow the fresh 70 catch-up guide and the heroic dungeons and keys guide.
- Alt army. Use per-character AddOns toggles. Leveling alts get Questie and a guide addon; farming alts get GatherMate2 and Auctionator.
All services for the expansion are listed on the TBC Anniversary hub, and the raid services page covers Zul'Aman, Black Temple and Hyjal.

FAQ
What are the best addons for TBC Anniversary? Questie, a boss mod with its Burning Crusade pack, Details!, WeakAuras, Leatrix Plus, and Auctionator cover most players. Raiders add an assignment tool such as Method Raid Tools.
Where do I install addons for TBC Anniversary?
In World of Warcraft\_anniversary_\Interface\AddOns. Anniversary has its own client folder, separate from Classic Era.
Do Classic Era addons work in TBC Anniversary? Only if the project ships a Classic TBC file. An Era build usually shows as "out of date" or throws Lua errors.
What is the best leveling addon for TBC Anniversary? Questie, which is free and shows objectives on the map, is the most common pick. RestedXP and FatDadXP add step-by-step routes.
Should I use DBM or BigWigs? Either one, with its Burning Crusade content pack. Never both at once.
Do I still need an attunement addon after the Zul'Aman update? Not for raids: Zul'Aman never needed one, and Black Temple and Hyjal lost their attunements on October 22. It can still help you track heroic key reputation, which now unlocks at Honored.
