Quick summary
- Where: underwater on the Coiled Isle at /way #2512 59.9 66.3. Swim down to the portal and summoning stone (Wowhead).
- Difficulties: you can queue alone for World (up to 40 players). Normal and Heroic take premade groups of up to 30. Mythic takes a premade group, capped at 25.
- The fight: kill the murlocs before they reach the Alluring Bubble. Keep Swirling Whirlpools from breaking it. Soak orbs in one agreed spot.
- Rewards: 279 / 292 / 305 / 318 gear, a Mistcrest for that difficulty, the Clumped Asteroidea decor, and one boss toward the Great Vault Raid row. She drops no tier.
- Lockouts: each difficulty has its own weekly lockout. World loot is limited to once a week (Worst Guides Ever; Blizzard Aug 13 hotfix).
Find the Tidebound Grotto and enter
Blizzard's Lairs are one-boss raid instances at a fixed spot in the world, each with its own summoning stone (Worst Guides Ever). Wowhead says to have "an aquatic mount ready." Worst Guides Ever places the entrance at the Wreck of Gral's Belly, south of Tokka's Landing. Our Coiled Isle guide covers unlocking and getting to the island.
- World: queue at the portal, the same way you queue for Delves. You fight trash and elites while the group fills, and then the boss appears. Loot goes directly into your bags (Wowhead, Worst Guides Ever).
- Normal, Heroic, and Mythic: the leader picks the difficulty and goes in first, and then everyone else follows. If you go in before your leader, you can end up on the wrong difficulty.

| Normal | Premade, up to 30 | 292 (Champion 1/6) | 308 | 286 | Champion |
| Heroic | Premade, up to 30 | 305 (Hero 1/6) | 321 | 299 | Hero |
| Mythic | Premade, up to 25 (15 minimum per WGE) | 318 (Myth 1/6) | 334 | 312 | Myth |
Kill the murlocs before they reach the bubble
Nymrissa makes an Alluring Bubble, and it pulls in waves of Bubblefin Shorerunners. A murloc that gets inside turns into a Bubblefin Berserker. Each Berserker casts Pulsing Tides, which hits the whole raid with Frost damage every 3 seconds (Wowhead).
- Slow, root, grip, and knock back Shorerunners as soon as they spawn.
- On Mythic, Bubblefin Frostscales come with each wave. Their Waterfog Shield gives nearby murlocs 99% damage reduction, so kill the Frostscale first. Since Blizzard's August 25 hotfix, each wave has 2 Frostscales instead of 3.
- When the bubble breaks, Pop! damages the whole raid and knocks everyone back. Stand where the knockback won't push you into ice or a whirlpool.
Keep the whirlpools out of the bubble
Wowhead says Nymrissa summons Swirling Whirlpools "to break the bubble, empowering murlocs within." The whirlpools damage anyone in their path, and over time they "converge into the center of the arena."
- Find the gap in the whirlpool pattern and step into it early (Wowhead).
Manage Chilling Frost, orbs, and ice
| Mechanic | What it does (Wowhead) | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Chilling Frost | Frost damage every 1.5 seconds and a 15% slow. Drops a Frost Orb where you stand | Walk slowly so the orbs land in one pile. Since Aug 25 it lasts 1.5 seconds less (Blizzard) |
| Frost Orb | Touching it applies a damage-over-time effect and stacking +15% Frost Orb damage taken | Assign soakers. Don't soak too many at once |
| Shatter (Heroic and up) | An orb nobody touches explodes for heavy raid damage plus a stacking DoT | Soak every orb before it explodes. Since Aug 25 that's 40 seconds, up from 30 |
| Frost Burst (Mythic) | Touching an orb also hits the raid | Pop orbs one at a time when healers call it. It does 40% less damage since Aug 25 |
| Lingering Frost | Ice patches that deal damage and make you slide | Leave it away from the murloc lanes and the middle |
Handle the tank mechanics
- Iceblade Flurry: a burst of Frost damage on the current target (Wowhead).
- Water Jet: sustained damage that pushes the target back. Each hit adds a stacking 20% vulnerability to Water Jet. Point it away from the raid.
- On Mythic, Water Jet also removes Lingering Frost. Aim it through ice that's blocking useful space, and pick the direction before the cast.
Healers should save cooldowns for Abyssal Rain, a 4-second channel that hits the whole raid, and for any overlap with Berserkers or Pop!. See our healer and tank tier list for raid comps.
Run the pull in order
- Assign two players to slow and knock back the murlocs, one soaker per orb, and a spot for orbs and ice.
- Keep the middle of the room clear and the boss away from the bubble.
- On each wave, kill Frostscales first on Mythic, then Shorerunners.
- Step into the gap between whirlpools as they come in.
- Drop orbs and ice at the agreed spot.
- Use healing cooldowns on Abyssal Rain, plus any Berserkers that got through.
Example: in a 20-player Mythic group, our suggestion is two ranged players on the far murlocs, one soaker for each orb with a backup, and a tank call for each Water Jet.

Plan your week
| Option | Time | Payoff | Best for | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| World queue only | Short | 279 gear once a week, Veteran Mistcrests, one Vault boss | Alts and solo players | Wowhead, Blizzard |
| Normal plus Heroic premades | Medium | 292 and 305 drops, two lockouts | Mid-geared raiders | Worst Guides Ever |
| All four difficulties | Longest | Four kills per character per week | Mythic groups | Worst Guides Ever |
Each kill counts as one boss toward the Raid row, along with Venomous Abyss kills, at 2, 4, and 6 bosses (Worst Guides Ever). Example: if you've killed 5 raid bosses this week, one Nymrissa kill opens your third Raid choice. Our Venomous Abyss guide and weekly checklist cover the rest of the week. Our gearing guide explains how to spend the Mistcrests.
Don't mix her up with the outdoor world bosses (Lu'ashal, Cragpine, Thorm'belan, Predaxas). They still rotate weekly and don't give Vault credit.
Gear alts and come back after a break
- Returning for 12.1.5: Lairs didn't change, and Nymrissa is still the only one (Worst Guides Ever). The guide reports the second Lair, The Gearhold (Noctinaxx), is announced for 12.2. Most early-season videos show her before the August 25 nerfs.
- Alts: World difficulty gives each character one drop a week and one Vault boss. Repeating it on the same character doesn't give more loot (Blizzard, Worst Guides Ever).
- Under-geared groups: Normal's health reduction for small groups (Sept 1) helps groups of 10–15.
