WoW Midnight Omnium Folio Guide: Unlock, Runes, and Best Builds

Quick summary

• The Omnium Folio is permanent Midnight player power that doesn't take a gear slot. It arrived in patch 12.0.7 and lasts for the rest of the expansion (Wowhead, Method). You open it from an icon on your minimap.

Start the Omnium Folio questline

1. Pick up The Magisters' Call. It's on a floating Magister's Missive in Silvermoon City. Wowhead puts it near the Ritual Site vendors at about 47.9, 51.6. Icy Veins puts it by the Field Accolade quartermasters at 48.33, 49.60. The two spots are next to each other.
2. Help Magister Umbric and Grand Magister Rommath. The chain repairs the Sunstrider Omnium in the Magisters' Terrace library on the Isle of Quel'Danas, which isn't the dungeon (Wowhead). You'll handle anomalies, solve puzzles, and find artifacts around Eversong Woods (Icy Veins).
3. Finish The Omnium Reawakens. This unlocks the Folio and grants the achievement The Sunstrider Omnium. Icy Veins says it also gives your first Mote of Omnial Inquiry. Our achievements page covers the wider achievement side.
4. Use the new portals. After unlocking, portals to the Magisters' Terrace open at Thalassian University and on the upper level of the bazaar.

Weekly quests come from Magister Umbric in the Lycaneum inside the Magisters' Terrace.

Finish one Seeking Knowledge quest every week

Each quest gives a Mote of Omnial Inquiry, which unlocks the next row (Wowhead). Here's what each source says the quests need:

Read every rune

Effects come from Wowhead's rune table. Values such as 52.7 rating are what the tooltip showed at the time and may scale.

3 (Lingering)	Lingering	Core Rune hits leave an 8 s damage or healing effect. Your Core Rune favors targets that don't have it.

Pet specs and anyone with downtime: Method found Orbs did better than Unleashed Fire for Unholy Death Knights, Beast Mastery Hunters, healers, and anyone whose uptime breaks often.

Example: you're a Mythic+ Fire Mage who can keep casting. Method's testing points to Unleashed Fire, nexttier's matrix to Orbs. Sim both in a dungeon-style profile. If they're within a percent of each other, take whichever has the easier proc pattern to play around. You can swap free out of combat between keys (Method).

Change runes without losing progress

• To swap, open the Folio from the minimap icon and right-click a rune to remove its point. Then pick the new one. You don't need to travel or pay (Method).
• Re-pick after a spec change. A Wowhead commenter reports the Folio doesn't switch with your spec. A Guardian Druid who swaps to Feral keeps the Guardian picks. That's a community report, not Blizzard's word, so check your runes after every spec change.
• Keep it up to date for each role. nexttier warns against picking once and forgetting. Raid, Mythic+, PvP and solo each favor different row 2 and row 5 picks.
