TBC Anniversary Honor Hold and Thrallmar Rep Guide: Phase 3.5

Quick summary

• The Flamewrought Key needs Honored, not Revered, since October 22, 2026 (Blizzard's Zul'Aman announcement). It opens heroic Hellfire Ramparts, The Blood Furnace and The Shattered Halls.
• Normal Ramparts and Blood Furnace stop giving rep at the end of Friendly (5999/6000), which is the doorstep of Honored. Run them first, then switch.

This Honor Hold and Thrallmar reputation guide is current for Phase 3.5 of TBC Anniversary, which went live on October 22, 2026. Honor Hold is the Alliance faction and Thrallmar the Horde faction of Hellfire Peninsula. Both work the same way, so one route covers both. Blizzard's Zul'Aman update notes lowered every heroic key to Honored and moved heroic dungeons to their final, easier tuning. That makes this faction a much shorter grind than it was at launch.

Why Honor Hold and Thrallmar rep matters in Phase 3.5

• Heroic access: the Flamewrought Key opens the three Hellfire Citadel heroics, which drop Badges of Justice for the new G'eras gear.
• Healer head enchant: Glyph of Renewal at Revered is a healer head enchant you can't get anywhere else.
• Recipes: Enchanting, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, Alchemy and Blacksmithing all have patterns here, including the Exalted Cloak – Subtlety and Nethercobra Leg Armor.
• Alt access: the account-bound Communal Flamewrought Pouch lets alts skip the grind for heroic access.

The Wanted dailies come from the daily dungeon givers in Lower City, Shattrath. They rotate, so a Hellfire Citadel dungeon only shows up on some days (Warcraft Tavern).

How much the quests are worth. Wowhead's total for every one-time quest is 16,630 for Thrallmar and 15,970 for Honor Hold before bonuses. That counts group quests, Shattered Halls quests and The Fall of Magtheridon. A player who only does the solo quests gets about 11,000, which is the figure Icy Veins uses. Plan with 11,000 if you quest alone and 16,000 if you also do the group content.

Follow the fastest route by standing

The old advice was to save every quest until Revered because the key sat there. With the key at Honored, the fastest order changes: get to Honored on normal dungeons, buy the key, then let heroics and quests carry you the rest of the way together.

Normal Ramparts and Blood Furnace stop at 5999/6000 Friendly, so your last run there can't push you into Honored. That's the moment to turn in a quest.

Step-by-step for a fresh level 70

1. Pick up every Hellfire quest but don't turn them in yet. You'll want them after the normal dungeons cap.
2. Run normal Hellfire Ramparts and The Blood Furnace back to back. One pair is about 1,383 rep. From zero, that's about six to seven pairs to hit 8,999. Do the dungeon quests (Weaken the Ramparts, Heart of Rage, The Blood is Life, Dark Tidings) during these runs, because they only count once anyway.
3. Turn in one quest to reach Honored and buy the Flamewrought Key.
4. Turn in the rest of your Hellfire quests. At about 11,000 to 16,000 rep, that lands you between mid Honored and early Revered.
5. Farm heroic Shattered Halls, or heroic Blood Furnace if your group is still gearing. Pop Favor before the first pull.
6. Grab the Wanted daily whenever a Hellfire dungeon is up. It adds 250 to 350 to a run you were doing anyway.

Example: A Horde Mage hits 70 in Nagrand with about 4,000 Thrallmar from early questing. They run normal Blood Furnace and Ramparts pairs until 8,999, then turn in the leftover Hellfire quests, including the group quests, and land near Revered at about 21,000. They then need about 21,000 more for Exalted. That's seven to eight heroic Shattered Halls clears, or six with Favor up the whole time.

Step-by-step for a player still leveling

You'll quest in Hellfire Peninsula at 58 to 62 regardless, so don't try to hoard quests while leveling. Run Ramparts and Blood Furnace when they fit your level and group. Most levelers leave Hellfire at Friendly or early Honored. Come back at 70 and go straight to step 3 or step 5 above.

Calculate your run count

Here's how many full clears it takes to go from Revered (21,000) to Exalted (42,000), based on the per-clear values above. These are our estimates and don't include dailies.

Heroic Shattered Halls is the most rep per clear, but it's also the longest and hardest of the three. Heroic Ramparts is short enough that some groups get more rep per hour from it. Time a run with your group once before you commit to one dungeon.

Use Favor and the PvP daily well

Honor Hold Favor and Thrallmar Favor each add 25% faction rep for 30 minutes and cost 5 Marks (Wowhead). You buy them from Warrant Officer Tracy Proudwell in Honor Hold or Battlecryer Blackeye in Thrallmar.

• Earn Marks: Hellfire Fortifications gives 3 Marks and 150 rep. Killing an enemy player near a Hellfire tower gives 1 Mark.
• Plan the timing: 30 minutes covers most of a heroic Ramparts clear but not all of a heroic Shattered Halls clear. Pop it before trash packs, not after the first boss.
• Stack it with long sessions: Two Favors back to back cover a full Shattered Halls heroic run.

Example: Doing Hellfire Fortifications daily for a week gives you 21 Marks, which is four Favors and 1,050 rep straight from the quest.

Get into Shattered Halls

You need one of the following for The Shattered Halls on any difficulty (Warcraft Tavern):

• A Shattered Halls Key from the group quest Hotter Than Hell, which follows Dumphry's Request (Alliance) or Rohok's Request (Horde) in the Hellfire chain.
• A Rogue with 350 Lockpicking to open the door.

For heroic, the key holder also needs the Flamewrought Key. One player with both keys can open the instance for the group, but anyone who wants to zone in later still needs their own key.

Find the dungeon entrances

• Hellfire Ramparts (47.7, 53.6): Go to 49.0, 55.5 on the ridge south of the Citadel, cross the bridge and turn left.
• The Blood Furnace (46.0, 51.8): Go to the Southern Rampart at 46.4, 59.1, climb the siege tower stairs and head north along the wall.
• The Shattered Halls (47.7, 52.0): Go to 48.7, 48.3 on the ridge north of the Citadel, cross the bridge south, stay right where it splits and take the first right to the locked door.

Shattered Halls and Hellfire Ramparts can be reached from each other's bridges.

Check the quest list for your faction

Most Hellfire quests give 250 rep. These are the bigger ones worth chasing, from Warcraft Tavern's full tables. Group, dungeon and raid quests make up most of the difference between the 11,000 solo total and the 16,000 full total.

Both quartermasters are in their town: Logistics Officer Ulrike (56.7, 62.6) in Honor Hold and Quartermaster Urgronn (54.9, 37.8) in Thrallmar.

Neither faction sells a mount. If a page says otherwise, it's wrong. The TBC reputation mounts come from other factions such as Cenarion Expedition, Kurenai, Mag'har, Netherwing and Sha'tari Skyguard.

Plan alts and returning characters

• Alts: Buy the Communal Flamewrought Pouch at Revered on your main. It's account-bound and only needs Friendly to use (Warcraft Tavern), so an alt can skip the Honored grind for heroic access.
• Returning players: Check your rep in the Reputation pane first. If you were sitting at Friendly or Revered before the patch, the key may already be available.
• Boosted characters: A level 58 boost starts at Neutral with no Hellfire quests done. Quest through Hellfire Peninsula as you level, then follow the fresh 70 route. Our fresh 70 catch-up guide shows where this faction fits in the full gearing plan.

Review your progress after each session

Open the Reputation pane and note where you are on the bar. If you're at 5999/6000 Friendly and still running normal Ramparts, you're wasting runs. If you're Revered and haven't bought the Communal Flamewrought Pouch, buy it now while you're in town.
