TBC Anniversary Sha'tar Reputation Guide: Fastest Exalted Route

Quick summary

• Aldor or Scryer rep spills half over to the Sha'tar, but only until 5999/6000 Friendly (Warcraft Wiki). After that, only Sha'tar quests and kills in the three Tempest Keep dungeons move the bar.
• The Warpforged Key needs Honored since October 22, 2026 (Blizzard's Zul'Aman notes). It opens heroic Mechanar, Botanica and Arcatraz.
• The Botanica is the best rep per clear: about 2,200 normal and 3,200 heroic. The Mechanar is shorter at about 1,600 and 2,100 (Warcraft Tavern).
• No dungeon is capped. Normal and heroic Tempest Keep runs give rep all the way to Exalted. The Eye raid gives only the one-time Verdant Sphere quest.
• Exalted is 42,000 rep from Neutral: 3,000 to Friendly, 6,000 more to Honored, 12,000 to Revered and 21,000 to Exalted.

This Sha'tar reputation guide for TBC Anniversary shows the fastest route from Neutral to Exalted on Anniversary realms in Phase 3.5. It explains the 5999/6000 Friendly wall, gives every one-time quest in a sensible order, compares the three Tempest Keep dungeons, and lists Almaador's rewards. Since October 22 the Warpforged Key needs only Honored, so heroic Tempest Keep is open much earlier than it used to be.

Auchindoun mobs give no Sha'tar rep, so the Auchindoun quests are the only Sha'tar value there (Warcraft Tavern).

Example: you hit 70 at 5999/6000 Friendly with the Netherstorm chain untouched. Special Delivery to Shattrath City alone makes you Honored, so buy the key. The chain then sends you through normal Mechanar, Botanica and Arcatraz, worth about 5,600 rep in kills, and pays 2,000 more in quests. That puts you near 17,600. Exalted is about 24,400 away: roughly 8 heroic Botanica clears at 3,200, or 12 normal clears at 2,200. Each 350-rep heroic daily on a Tempest Keep day removes about a tenth of a run.

Why Sha'tar rep is stuck at 5999/6000 Friendly

The most common question about this faction is why the bar stops moving. Every Aldor or Scryer quest or turn-in pays the Sha'tar half, but that spillover stops at 5999/6000 Friendly. Reaching Honored needs a Sha'tar quest or a kill in The Mechanar, The Botanica or The Arcatraz (Warcraft Wiki).

1. Check your Sha'tar bar in the reputation panel. If it reads 5999/6000 Friendly, stop doing Aldor or Scryer work for this goal.
2. If you're still below that, keep questing. Most characters fill much of it while leveling through Outland, because filling 9,000 Sha'tar rep takes 18,000 Aldor or Scryer rep.
3. Timing tip: if you plan to push the Aldor or Scryers further anyway, save the Netherstorm Sha'tar quests until after you hit 5999. Otherwise they fill space that spillover would have filled for free.

Sha'tar quests in the best order

Every Sha'tar quest except the dailies is one-time (Warcraft Tavern). Do them in this order so the big turn-ins land after the Friendly wall.

The Black Temple attunement is gone since October 22, but these quests still exist and still pay Sha'tar rep.

4. Nagrand (Horde only)

When Spirits Speak (250) → A Secret Revealed (250) → Auchindoun... (350) → What the Soul Sees (250). This chain is why Horde has about 1,100 more quest rep than Alliance.

5. Netherstorm and Tempest Keep (the 3,000-rep block)

1. Pick up Nether-Stalker Khay'ji's Consortium chain at Area 52. Warcraft Tavern says this is the breadcrumb you need before the Sha'tar part opens.
2. Finish with Special Delivery to Shattrath City and turn it in to A'dal: 1,000.
3. A'dal gives How to Break Into the Arcatraz: get the two key shards from the final bosses of The Mechanar and The Botanica. Turn in for 1,000 and the Key to the Arcatraz.
4. Harbinger of Doom: kill Harbinger Skyriss in The Arcatraz: 1,000.
5. The Tempest Key (10) follows.
6. Later, Kael'thas and the Verdant Sphere pays 1,000 for raiders. Our Tempest Keep: The Eye guide covers that kill.

6. Trials of the Naaru (heroic, after the keys)

Trial of the Naaru: Mercy (heroic Shattered Halls), Strength (heroic Shadow Labyrinth and Steamvault) and Tenacity (heroic Arcatraz) pay 500 each, and Trial of the Naaru: Magtheridon gives another 500. Pick them up from A'dal before your first heroics. Mercy and Strength need the Honor Hold or Thrallmar, Lower City and Cenarion Expedition keys, now all at Honored.

Mechanar gives about 73% of Botanica's rep on normal and 66% on heroic, so it only wins if it's that much faster. Arcatraz has harder trash and needs a key, so it's the weakest farm.

Run a full Botanica clear

1. Fly to the Botanica platform in Netherstorm. Warcraft Tavern lists Expert Riding as an entry requirement for the three Tempest Keep dungeons; a summon at the meeting stone also works.
2. Clear every pack to Commander Sarannis.
3. Continue to High Botanist Freywinn, then Thorngrin the Tender.
4. Kill Laj, then finish with Warp Splinter.
5. Loot the shard from Warp Splinter if you're on How to Break Into the Arcatraz.
6. Note your rep before and after. If heroic comes in well under 3,000, you skipped packs.

Each daily only rotates to a Tempest Keep dungeon on some days. On the other days, it points at a different faction's dungeon. Diplomacy gives Humans 10% more rep from every source.

Plan an efficient Tempest Keep session

1. Check both daily givers in Lower City first. A Tempest Keep target adds 250–350 for the run you'd do anyway.
2. Set your hearthstone at Area 52 or the Stormspire if you're farming several days in a row.
3. Reset normals between runs. Normal instances reset when the group leaves and resets, so two Botanica clears back to back is the usual normal loop.
4. Do heroics with a steady group. Heroic Botanica has long trash, and a tank and healer who know the pulls save more time than any route change.
5. Track your rep per clear. If heroic Botanica comes in well under 3,000, check that you're clearing side packs.

Sha'tar rewards worth the grind

Almaador sells everything at the Terrace of Light in Shattrath (51.0, 41.7), next to a brazier on the west side (Warcraft Tavern).

The reward list matches Warcraft Wiki's Sha'tar page. Blizzard's October 22 notes lowered the heroic key itself to Honored but didn't mention the alt pouch, so check its standing at Almaador.

Returning, boosted or alt players

• Returning players: check your bar before farming. If you did the Netherstorm chain years ago, your quest rep is already banked and dungeons are all that's left.
• Boosted characters: a level-boosted 70 still has to finish the Consortium breadcrumb in Netherstorm before Special Delivery to Shattrath City opens. Aldor or Scryer quests still fill Friendly first.
• Alts: the Communal Warpforged Pouch from your main at Revered gives alts heroic access. Pair this faction with Keepers of Time, Cenarion Expedition and Honor Hold or Thrallmar for every heroic key.
