WoW Midnight Great Vault Guide: Season 2 Slots and Item Levels
Midnight Great Vault guide for Season 2: all nine slots, raid, key and Delve item levels, reset times, Labyrinth credit, Voidcores and tokens.

In this guide 15 sections
This Midnight Great Vault guide explains how to fill all nine weekly slots in Season 2 on patch 12.1.5: what each raid, Mythic+ and World activity is worth, the exact item level breakpoints, when the vault resets, and when to take a Nebulous Voidcore or tokens instead of gear. It's current to the October 27 hotfixes, which fixed Labyrinth scenarios that weren't granting vault credit (Icy Veins hotfix summary).
Quick summary
- Nine slots, one pick a week. Raid unlocks at 2/4/6 bosses, Dungeons at 1/4/8 runs and World at 2/4/8 activities. You claim one item after the weekly reset (Wowhead).
- Season 2 raid slots pay one difficulty higher. Heroic kills give Myth 1/6 (318) and Mythic kills give Myth 6/6, already maxed (Wowhead, Method).
- The Dungeon row caps at +10. A +10 pays 318, Myth 1/6. A +15 pays the same 318 (Method, Worst Guides Ever).
- The World row caps at 305, Hero 1/6, from Tier 8+ Delves, Nightmare Prey or Tier 8+ Labyrinth chambers. Each slot uses the lowest activity in your top 2, 4 or 8 (Worst Guides Ever).
- Don't want any of the items? With three slots filled you can take a Nebulous Voidcore (a bonus roll) instead. Or take Thalassian Tokens of Merit (Blizzard, Wowhead).
Great Vault location and unlock in Midnight
The vault starts tracking once you're level 90. Worst Guides Ever ties this to finishing The Last Push from Lor'themar Theron. There's no separate unlock quest.
| What | Where or when | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Shared Great Vault | Silvermoon City, Bank of Silvermoon in the Bazaar, /way 50.2 66.2 | Worst Guides Ever |
| Horde-sector Great Vault | Silvermoon City, /way 71.8 65.1. No token vendor here. | Worst Guides Ever |
| Vaultkeeper Elysa (token vendor) | Next to the shared vault, about /way 50.4 65.0 | Wowhead, Worst Guides Ever |
You can preview progress from the vault icon on the world map. Claiming still means standing at a vault. Rewards always reflect last week's activity. Finishing a threshold doesn't put anything in the vault until the next reset.
When does the Great Vault reset?
The vault fills at the weekly reset, the same moment as raid lockouts and Mythic+ weekly progress:
| Region | Weekly reset | Example local time |
|---|---|---|
| Americas and Oceania | Tuesday, 15:00 UTC | 8:00 a.m. Pacific in summer time |
| Europe | Wednesday, 04:00 UTC | 5:00 a.m. Central European in winter time |
These match the Season 2 start times Blizzard used for each region (August 18 at 15:00 UTC in the US, August 19 at 04:00 UTC in Europe, per Raider.IO's season data). Anything you finish after reset counts toward next week's vault.
How the Great Vault picks your item level
| Row | Slot 1 | Slot 2 | Slot 3 | What sets the item level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raid | 2 bosses | 4 bosses | 6 bosses | Highest difficulty where you reached that boss count |
| Dungeons | 1 run | 4 runs | 8 runs | Your best, 4th-best and 8th-best run of the week |
| World | 2 activities | 4 activities | 8 activities | The lowest-tier run in your top 2, 4 or 8 |
Any slot can roll a tier piece. So players who don't raid can still get set pieces from the vault (Worst Guides Ever).
Great Vault raid rewards in Season 2
Season 2 changed the raid row. Each vault reward comes from the loot table one difficulty above the one you cleared (Wowhead, Method).
| Difficulty you killed bosses on | Vault reward | Item level |
|---|---|---|
| Raid Finder (or a lair on World difficulty) | Champion 1/6 | 292 |
| Normal | Hero 1/6 | 305 |
| Heroic | Myth 1/6 | 318 |
| Mythic | Myth 6/6 | 334 |
| Mythic, last two Venomous Abyss bosses or Very Rare items | Myth 9/6 equivalent | 344 |
Rules that change what you see:
- Mixed difficulties are counted per slot. Wowhead's example: 8/8 Normal plus 5/8 Heroic gives two Heroic-quality slots and one Normal-quality slot. You didn't kill six Heroic bosses.
- Bosses killed out of order add that boss and every boss before it to the loot pool. Order follows the Adventure Guide (Wowhead).
- Lairs count toward the raid row. The Tidebound Grotto is the current one. Worst Guides Ever adds that its World difficulty can be queued.
- The Unbinding of Kith'ix counts as one boss toward 2/4/6 (Worst Guides Ever). Nobody has confirmed whether a Mythic Kith'ix kill pays 344 in the vault. Check the tooltip after your first kill.
Example. You kill 4 Heroic bosses on raid night, then 2 more bosses in Raid Finder. Slots 1 and 2 show 318 Myth 1/6. Slot 3 shows 292 Champion 1/6. To lift slot 3 to 318, kill 2 more Heroic bosses. More Raid Finder kills won't change it.
Fastest raid row without a guild (our arithmetic): run the Raid Finder wings of the Venomous Abyss, then queue the Tidebound Grotto on World difficulty, then do Kith'ix. That's six boss credits at 292. It fills the row but adds little for a geared main.
Great Vault Mythic+ rewards and item levels
Heroic, Mythic 0, Mythic+ and Timewalking dungeons all count (Wowhead). Mythic+ slots use your best runs, sorted from highest to lowest. The order you ran them doesn't matter.
| Run | End-of-run loot | Great Vault reward |
|---|---|---|
| Heroic dungeon | 276, Adventurer 4/6 | 289, Veteran 4/6 |
| Mythic 0 | 292, Champion 1/6 | 302, Champion 4/6 |
| +2 to +3 | 295, Champion 2/6 | 305, Hero 1/6 |
| +4 | 298, Champion 3/6 | 308, Hero 2/6 |
| +5 | 302, Champion 4/6 | 308, Hero 2/6 |
| +6 | 305, Hero 1/6 | 311, Hero 3/6 |
| +7 | 305, Hero 1/6 | 315, Hero 4/6 |
| +8 to +9 | 308, Hero 2/6 | 315, Hero 4/6 |
| +10 and higher | 311, Hero 3/6 | 318, Myth 1/6 |
Worked example (with Season 2 numbers). Your week is +12, +10, +10, +10, +9, +8, +7, +6, +5. Slot 1 uses the +12, which pays 318. Slot 2 uses the 4th-best run, a +10, which pays 318. Slot 3 uses the 8th-best run, a +6, which pays 311. To raise slot 3 to 318, you need two more timed or completed +10s. Pushing a +13 changes nothing.
Pick your key target (our arithmetic):
| Goal | Runs needed | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum Myth-track choice | 1 × +10 | One 318 option |
| Best time-to-choice ratio | 4 × +10 | Two 318 options |
| Full row on Myth track | 8 × +10 | Three 318 options |
| Alt or fresh 90 | 8 × +2 | Three 305 Hero options |
Above +10 you're playing for rating and Keystone Myth: Season 2 (3,600 rating, per Blizzard), not for the vault.
Great Vault World row: Delves, Prey and Labyrinth
The World row accepts Delves, Prey hunts, Labyrinth chambers, Ritual Sites, world quests, world bosses, rares and weekly world events (Worst Guides Ever). Only some of them count above Tier 1.
| Vault tier | Delve | Prey | Labyrinth | Vault item |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tier 1 | Normal | Tier 1 | 279, Veteran 1/6 |
| 2 to 4 | Tier 2 to 4 | — | Tier 2 to 4 | 282 to 289, Veteran 2/6 to 4/6 |
| 5 | Tier 5 | Hard | Tier 5 | 292, Champion 1/6 |
| 6 | Tier 6 | — | Tier 6 | 298, Champion 3/6 |
| 7 | Tier 7 | — | Tier 7 | 302, Champion 4/6 |
| 8 to 11 | Tier 8 to 11 | Nightmare | Tier 8 to 11 | 305, Hero 1/6 |
Labyrinth credit. Every three chambers you finish in one Labyrinth run count as one World activity, at the Labyrinth tier you're running. A full nine-chamber run gives three credits. Leaving after chamber eight gives two. Worst Guides Ever also reports an extra weekly credit for killing Kindo'jan on Tier 8 or higher, but that came from PTR testing. If a Labyrinth week didn't register before October 27, that was a bug: Blizzard's October 27 hotfix fixed "some scenarios" that weren't granting Great Vault credit.
A Myth piece outside the vault. Each week Wah'du, just inside the Labyrinth entrance, offers a quest that usually means clearing set chambers on Tier 8 or higher. It pays 2,000 Undercoin and a Mythical Soul Fragment, and fragments buy Myth 2/6 gear in the slot you choose: two pieces over patch 12.1.5, after six quests. Missed weeks catch up (Icy Veins, October 27). For a solo player whose vault tops out at 305, that's the way to fill a weak slot with Myth gear. The Labyrinth of Kindo'jan guide covers the run itself.
The trap. Each slot takes the lowest entry among your top 2, 4 or 8. Say you do seven Tier 8 Delves and one Tier 1 world quest. Slot 3 drops to 279. Either do an eighth Tier 8 activity or stop at seven, because slot 3 then just stays empty.
Example world week (our arithmetic): one full Tier 8 Labyrinth run (3 credits) plus five Tier 8 Bountiful Delves or Nightmare Prey hunts gives 8 credits. All three slots then pay 305. See the Delves guide and the Prey guide for tier unlocks.
Best Great Vault sources ranked
| Rank | Source | Row | Credit | Best vault item |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mythic+ at +10 or higher | Dungeons | 1 per run | 318, Myth 1/6 |
| 2 | Heroic Venomous Abyss bosses | Raid | 1 per boss | 318, Myth 1/6 |
| 3 | Mythic Venomous Abyss bosses | Raid | 1 per boss | 334 (344 from the last two) |
| 4 | Labyrinth of Kindo'jan, Tier 8+ | World | 1 per 3 chambers | 305, Hero 1/6 |
| 5 | Bountiful Delves, Tier 8+ | World | 1 per Delve | 305, Hero 1/6 |
| 6 | Nightmare Prey | World | 1 per hunt | 305, Hero 1/6 |
| 7 | The Unbinding of Kith'ix | Raid | 1 boss | Depends on difficulty |
| 8 | Tidebound Grotto lair | Raid | 1 boss | 292 on World difficulty |
| 9 | Heroic, Mythic 0, Timewalking | Dungeons | 1 per run | 289 to 302 |
| 10 | Ritual Sites, world quests, weeklies | World | 1 each | 279 to 298 |
The order is adapted from Worst Guides Ever's ranking. We moved Heroic raid bosses up because the Season 2 raid row pays 318 from Heroic. Mythic raiding is listed below +10 keys because few players can reach it each week. If you can, it's the strongest row.
Gear, Nebulous Voidcore or Thalassian Tokens of Merit?
| Situation | Take | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Any option is a real upgrade you'll equip now | The item | A known upgrade beats a random roll |
| Every option is a duplicate or sidegrade, and you have 3+ slots | Nebulous Voidcore | A bonus roll on a boss that pays vault item level |
| Nothing helps, and you lack a socket on helm, bracers or belt | Thalassian Tokens of Merit → Miasmic Jewelbinder | A permanent socket |
| Nothing helps and you're short on upgrades | Tokens → crest packs | Ten Champion or Hero Mistcrests per pack |
Voidcore rules. Blizzard's pre-season post says the vault offers a Nebulous Voidcore once you've unlocked at least three slots. Raid bonus rolls cost one Voidcore in Season 2 (Wowhead). Bonus-rolled loot comes at the vault's item level for that content (Wowhead). So use it on a Heroic boss (318), a Mythic boss (334 to 344) or a +10 key (318), not on a Tier 8 Delve (305). Separately, Orin Straylight sells one extra Voidcore a week after the "Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst" quest. You pay in gold, Voidlight Marl or Veteran Mistcrests (Blizzard).
Tokens. You get 2 tokens for one unlocked slot, 4 for two and 6 for three or more. They're bag items with a cap of 12, so a full bag or a full stack makes the claim fail.
| Vaultkeeper Elysa sells | Token cost | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Triumphant Satchel of Champion Mistcrests | 1 | 10 Champion Mistcrests |
| Celebratory Pack of Hero Mistcrests | 2 | 10 Hero Mistcrests |
| Chest of Gold | 2 | 1,000 gold |
| Miasmic Jewelbinder | 6 | Adds a socket to a Season 2 helm, bracers or belt (not PvP gear) |
| Spark of Tides | 6 | Crafting spark |
| Nebulous Voidcore | 6 | One bonus roll |
Items come from Wowhead. The token costs come from Worst Guides Ever, because Wowhead's table doesn't show them.
Venomstones and the vault. Since October 20, Ascendant Venomstones drop from every Heroic or Mythic raid boss, +10 and higher keys, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves and Nightmare Prey. Ten stones raise a fully upgraded Myth-track weapon, trinket or necklace from 334 to 340, or a Hero-track one from 321 to 328 (Method's Venomstone guide). Mythic loot from the last two raid bosses already reaches 344 and can't take them. So a Myth-track weapon, trinket or necklace from the vault is worth more than other slots right now. Mistcrests are also uncapped since October 20, so finishing those upgrades is no longer gated by a weekly cap.
Weekly Great Vault routes by player type
Fresh level 90 or catch-up character
- Run one Heroic or Mythic 0 to open dungeon slot 1, then switch to +2s, which pay 305 in the vault.
- Clear three Labyrinth chambers per tier from Tier 1 up. Worst Guides Ever reports each cleared tier also unlocks the next Delve tier account-wide.
- Fill the raid row with Raid Finder, the Tidebound Grotto on World difficulty and Kith'ix.
- Take gear every week. At your item level almost every option is an upgrade. The 12.1.5 catch-up gearing guide has the full ramp.
Solo player (no groups)
- One full Tier 8+ Labyrinth run, then five Tier 8 Bountiful Delves or Nightmare Prey hunts, for three 305 slots.
- Raid Finder, the lair and Kith'ix for three 292 slots.
- Skip the dungeon row, or use follower dungeons if your queue allows it.
Mythic+ player
- Eight keys at +10 for three 318 slots.
- Add one Labyrinth run and a few Tier 8 Delves for World options at 305. They often roll tier pieces.
- Spend Myth Mistcrests on a vault weapon, trinket or necklace first, to prepare it for Venomstones.
Heroic or Mythic raider
- Six Heroic kills, or six Mythic kills if you can. Mythic slots arrive at 334 already maxed, which saves a full track of Myth Mistcrests (Worst Guides Ever).
- One +10 for a fourth Myth option.
- Keep Voidcores for the last two Mythic bosses or your best-in-slot Heroic boss.
Alt
- Raid Finder, the lair and Kith'ix for 292.
- One Labyrinth run plus five Tier 8 Delves for 305.
- Always take gear. Alts rarely see duplicates.
Our weekly checklist fits these routes into the rest of the reset.
Great Vault mistakes that waste a week
- Padding the World row with world quests. They count as Tier 1 and pull slot 3 down to 279.
- Leaving a Labyrinth run after chamber 8. You get two credits, not three.
- Pushing above +10 to improve the vault. It stays at 318.
- Taking a Voidcore in your first weeks. It trades a known upgrade for a random one.
- Spending a Voidcore on a Tier 8 Delve (305) when a Heroic boss pays 318.
- Claiming tokens with a full bag or 12 tokens already held.
- Shopping at the Horde-sector vault. Elysa stands at the shared vault.
- Picking the biggest number instead of the biggest upgrade, and ignoring set bonuses.
If you're returning, boosted, or on an alt
- Returning players: The vault only counts activity from level 90, and only from the current week. A returning character's first useful claim comes the reset after they play. Start with the solo route above, because it needs no group invites.
- Boosted characters (Blizzard's level boost or a carried leveling run): reach 90 and finish The Last Push, then get gear from the World row first. Tier 8 Delves need a decent item level, so build up through Tiers 1 to 7 and the Labyrinth tier unlocks. A boosted character with low item level will struggle to get into +10 groups. Plan on +2 to +6 vaults for the first two weeks.
- Alts: Labyrinth tier unlocks are account-wide. Worst Guides Ever reports the Voidcore quest progress is warband-wide too. So an alt starts ahead of your main's week one. The vault itself is per character.
Which vault item to take depends on your spec's best-in-slot list. Our Season 2 spec guides list the best Voidcore and Venomstone targets: Blood Death Knight, Holy Paladin, Restoration Shaman, Elemental Shaman, Retribution Paladin and Devourer Demon Hunter. If a vault option is a sidegrade, a crafted piece may be the better buy; see the crafted gear guide. For Mythic+ group picks, see the Mythic+ healer and tank tier list, and for key routes, the Season 2 Mythic+ guide. More Midnight guides are on the World of Warcraft hub.

FAQ
How does the Great Vault work in Midnight Season 2? You fill up to nine slots across Raid (2/4/6 bosses), Dungeons (1/4/8 runs) and World (2/4/8 activities). After the weekly reset you choose one item, a Voidcore or tokens.
What item level is the Great Vault from a +10 in Season 2? 318, Myth 1/6. Higher keys pay the same 318 in the vault.
Does Heroic raid give Myth track in the Great Vault? Yes. In Season 2, raid vault rewards come from one difficulty higher, so Heroic kills give Myth 1/6 at 318.
Does the Labyrinth count for the Great Vault? Yes. Every three chambers finished in one run count as one World activity, at the Labyrinth tier you ran.
When does the Great Vault reset? Tuesday at 15:00 UTC in the Americas and Wednesday at 04:00 UTC in Europe. The vault shows rewards for the week that just ended.
Where is the Great Vault in Midnight? In Silvermoon City at /way 50.2 66.2, with Vaultkeeper Elysa beside it. A second Horde-sector vault at 71.8 65.1 has no vendor.
