MapleStory Classic EXP Table: Levels 1-100, Formula, Death Loss
MapleStory Classic World EXP table for levels 1-100 with the formula behind it, milestone totals, party bonus, kills per level.

In this guide 13 sections
Quick summary
- Lv 1–49 is confirmed: reaching Lv 10 takes 3,347 EXP in total, Lv 30 takes 548,637, and Lv 50 takes 6,851,591. MeowDB and the MapleClassic Wiki have the same numbers.
- Lv 50–99 comes from MeowDB only. From Lv 51 to 89, each level costs 5.48% more than the one before. From Lv 90, each level costs 2.1× the one before. The wiki leaves Lv 50 and up blank as "not yet confirmed."
- The back half is enormous: by MeowDB's table, Lv 99→100 alone costs 9,482,161,548 EXP, which is 52% of the whole climb from 1 to 100.
- Party bonus: +10% / +20% / +30% for 2, 3, and 4 or more members, capped at four (MeowDB, measured in a closed test; community data).
- Death: the wiki says you lose a flat 10% of the bar. MeowDB's model scales the loss down with base LUK.
Checked against the Founder's Access build on October 13, 2026. Grand Launch is October 21, 2026; see the end of the guide for what may change.
Read the milestone totals first
| Milestone | Total EXP to reach it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Lv 10, first job | 3,347 | Wiki, MeowDB |
| Lv 21, Kerning PQ (First Time Together) | 97,841 | MeowDB |
| Lv 30, second job | 548,637 | Wiki, MeowDB |
| Lv 50 | 6,851,591 | Wiki, MeowDB |
| Lv 70 | 31,545,355 | MeowDB only (the wiki lists it as "Unconfirmed") |
| Lv 90 | 103,322,764 | MeowDB only |
| Lv 100, the cap | 18,194,778,397 | MeowDB only |
MeowDB's table counts the total after you finish each level, so "Total at next level" for Lv 9 is the total needed to reach Lv 10. MeowDB points out that the Maple Island questline gives about 1,075 EXP, enough for level 6 on quests alone. See our quests guide for the rest.
Use the formula behind the table
| Levels | Formula (MeowDB) | Worked example |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | (floor(level² / 2) + 15) × level | Lv 5: (12 + 15) × 5 = 135 |
| 6–50 | q = floor(level² / 3), then (q + 19) × q | Lv 49: (800 + 19) × 800 = 655,200 |
| 51–89 | trunc(previous level × 1.0548) | Lv 51: 709,716 × 1.0548 = 748,608 |
| 90–99 | trunc(previous level × 2.1) | Lv 90: 5,684,790 × 2.1 = 11,938,059 |
Our check: we ran these four formulas in a script. They reproduce MeowDB's numbers exactly at every milestone we tested (Lv 10, 29, 49, 50, 51, 70, 89, 90, and 99) and give the same totals at Lv 10, 30, 50, 70, 90, and 100. MeowDB says Lv 1–89 use "the exact same rates as pre-Big-Bang MapleStory."
Look up any level
The "EXP to next" values for Lv 1–49 are confirmed by both the wiki and MeowDB. Lv 50–99 come from MeowDB only.*

See where the climb really happens
| Range | EXP | Share of Lv 1–100 (our arithmetic from MeowDB) |
|---|---|---|
| Lv 1 → 30 | 548,637 | under 0.01% |
| Lv 30 → 50 | 6,302,954 | 0.03% |
| Lv 50 → 70 | 24,693,764 | 0.14% |
| Lv 70 → 90 | 71,777,409 | 0.39% |
| Lv 90 → 100 | 18,091,455,633 | 99.4% |
MeowDB: "Level 50 is under 0.04% of the way to 100" and "the remaining 99.4% is levels 90 to 100." It also notes that Lv 100 was "the highest level anyone got to in COT2" (the second closed test). Treat Lv 90 and above as a long-term goal, not something you'll reach at launch.
Count kills per level
| Mob (MeowDB EXP) | Level being cleared | EXP needed | Solo kills (MeowDB) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ribbon Pig (19) | 10 → 11 | 1,716 | About 91 |
| Stirge (37) | 20 → 21 | 20,216 | About 547 |
| Ligator (58) | 30 → 31 | 95,700 | About 1,650 |
| Cold Eye (85) | 40 → 41 | 294,216 | About 3,462 |
| Clang (127) | 49 → 50 | 655,200 | About 5,160 |
| Tauromacis (337) | 70 → 71 | 2,062,925 | About 6,122 |
The Tauromacis row is MeowDB's example for after third job, which isn't in the game yet. Map choices and mob density are in our training guide. Kill speed also depends on hit rate, so check our accuracy guide before you commit to a higher-level map.
Add the party bonus
| Party size | Bonus EXP (MeowDB, COT2 data) |
|---|---|
| 2 | 10% |
| 3 | 20% |
| 4 | 30% |
| 5–6 | 30% (capped) |
The wiki says that in a party, "the EXP from every monster kill is divided among the party." MeowDB says a fifth or sixth member "can still help by clearing a map faster" but adds no bonus. The Kerning PQ is the main structured party activity, and our KPQ guide covers its EXP.
Know what a death costs
| Level (EXP to next) | Wiki: flat 10% | MeowDB model, 4 LUK | 25 LUK | 50 LUK | 100 LUK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 (20,216) | 2,021 | 2,021 | 1,172 | 1,091 | 1,051 |
| 30 (95,700) | 9,570 | 9,570 | 5,550 | 5,167 | 4,976 |
| 49 (655,200) | 65,520 | 65,520 | 38,001 | 35,380 | 34,070 |
Our arithmetic. The MeowDB model is floor(EXP to next × (5 + 20 / base LUK) / 100). Both sources agree that you can't lose a level, because the bar stops at 0. The wiki adds that "characters cannot die in towns." MeowDB also says a charm item prevents the loss. We haven't checked where that item comes from, and we don't list Cash Shop prices.
Compare the ways to earn EXP
| Method | Strength | Limit (source) |
|---|---|---|
| Monster kills | The main source at almost every level | Scales with kill speed (wiki) |
| Quests | Flat rewards; Maple Island alone gets you to Lv 6 | Finite (MeowDB, wiki) |
| Party hunting | +10–30% bonus | EXP is split; bonus capped at 4 members (wiki, MeowDB) |
| Holy Symbol | None | Reworked into a self-resurrection buff; "no longer affects EXP" |
Plan your hours (community data)
MeowDB reports closed-test timings: about 3–4 hours from Lv 10 to 20 and 8–9 hours from 20 to 30. The first tester to reach Lv 30 in COT2 took 14 hours in total. These are tester results, not guarantees. The EXP needed for each of those stretches is in the table above, so you can estimate your own time from your kills per hour.
Plan for alts and returning players
- Alts: the first 30 levels take only 548,637 EXP, about 8% of what Lv 50 takes. That's why second alts usually hit second job quickly. Our job advancement guide covers the steps.
- Returning pre-Big Bang players: the curve through Lv 89 is the one you remember (MeowDB). Holy Symbol no longer gives an EXP bonus (wiki), so party plans built around priest EXP buffs won't work the same way.
- LUK classes lose less EXP when they die under MeowDB's model, but the wiki's flat 10% says they don't. Don't count on it until that's settled.

What may change at Grand Launch
This guide describes the Founder's Access build as it was on October 13, 2026. Re-check these against Nexon's Grand Launch notes on October 21: whether crafting still stops at craft level 8, whether Forgotten Hollow, Orbis and third jobs stay closed, KPQ channel limits, NPC shop stock, and any Founder's Access-only events or packages mentioned here. Nothing here assumes a closed area or feature will open.
