MapleStory Classic Training Guide 70-100: Best Maps After 70
MapleStory Classic training 70-100: best maps by level and job, Taurospear vs skeleton camps, kills per level, party bonus math and the 90+ EXP wall.

In this guide 15 sections
Checked against v1.0.0 on October 29, 2026.
After level 70, MapleStory Classic World runs out of new monsters: only Maple Island and Victoria Island are open, and the strongest regular monster is the level 75 Taurospear. This MapleStory Classic training 70-100 guide picks the best map for each level and job from NiaMeowDB's monster data, counts the kills each level takes, explains how party EXP really works and sizes up the wall after 90. For levels 1 to 70, start with our training guide 1-70.
Quick summary
- 70 to 80: Sanctuary Entrance in Sleepywood (Tauromacis 70, Taurospear 75), the Excavation Site skeleton camps near Perion (Officer Skeleton 63, Commander Skeleton 73), or Wild Kargo's Area (62) (NiaMeowDB, Nexon).
- Match the map to your element: Tauros are weak to ice and resist lightning; the skeletons are undead and weak to holy, so Clerics' Heal hits them; Commander Skeletons are immune to poison (NiaMeowDB).
- 80 to 90: no monster is built for you, so farm whatever you one-shot fastest. Wraiths (48) and Malady (55) give the most EXP per HP of any monster above level 45 in the open maps.
- 90 to 100 is a wall. Each level from 90 to 99 costs 2.1 times the one before; 99 to 100 alone is 9.48 billion EXP, about 22 million Taurospear kills solo (NiaMeowDB).
- Party up: the bonus is 10% per extra member on the map, up to 30%, plus 5% for each extra member who hits the same monster, up to 55% (NiaMeowDB).
Choose a map by level
| Level | Best map | Monsters (level) | Why | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 70–80 | Sanctuary Entrance I–IV | Tauromacis (70), Taurospear (75) | The highest-level regular monsters, but few per map and slow respawns | NiaMeowDB, mapleclassicguide.com |
| 70–80 | Remains IV, Remains , Camp 3 (Excavation Site) | Officer Skeleton (63), Commander Skeleton (73) | Added at Grand Launch on October 21; undead, so Heal-friendly | Nexon, henesys.gg, NiaMeowDB |
| 62–75 | Wild Kargo's Area | Wild Kargo (62) | Best EXP per HP of the 60+ monsters, with no element to work around | NiaMeowDB |
| 80–90 | Your fastest one-shot map | Wraith (48), Malady (55), Dark Stone Golem (58) | No map is built for 80+, so clear speed decides | NiaMeowDB, mapleclassicguide.com |
| 90–100 | Same as 80–90, or a party on the 70+ maps | Same | Each level costs 2.1 times the last | NiaMeowDB |
Compare the top monsters after 70
EXP per 100 HP compares monsters regardless of your attack: it's how much EXP each point of damage buys. The numbers below are NiaMeowDB's monster database; the per-HP column is our arithmetic.
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP | EXP per 100 HP | Element | Maps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Malady | 55 | 2,998 | 167 | 5.57 | Weak to holy; resists fire and ice | The Forest of Evil II |
| Wraith | 48 | 2,350 | 122 | 5.19 | Undead, weak to holy | Kerning City Subway ends |
| Wild Kargo | 62 | 5,057 | 231 | 4.57 | None | Wild Kargo's Area, Drake's Meal Table |
| Red Drake | 60 | 5,184 | 211 | 4.07 | Weak to ice; resists fire | Dangerous Valley II |
| Officer Skeleton | 63 | 5,976 | 242 | 4.05 | Undead, weak to holy | Camp 3, Remains IV |
| Tauromacis | 70 | 9,328 | 337 | 3.61 | Weak to ice; resists lightning | Sanctuary Entrance I–III |
| Dark Stone Golem | 58 | 5,428 | 192 | 3.54 | Weak to holy; resists fire and poison | Sleepy Dungeon III–V |
| Taurospear | 75 | 12,535 | 429 | 3.42 | Weak to ice; resists lightning | Sanctuary Entrance III–IV |
| Commander Skeleton | 73 | 11,915 | 390 | 3.27 | Undead, weak to holy; resists ice; immune to poison | Remains , Remains IV |
What this means. The highest-level monsters give the most EXP per kill but the least per point of damage. If you can't one-shot a Taurospear, Wild Kargo or the Officer Skeletons may level you faster, and at 80+ a map of Wraiths or Maladies you kill in one hit beats a Taurospear you need three hits for (Malady lives in The Forest of Evil II; see our Forest of Evil guide). Spawn rate matters too, so test before you commit. Our monster list has every other monster.
Get to the 70+ maps
Sanctuary Entrance (Sleepywood)
mapleclassicguide.com lists the route from Sleepywood as 19 maps: Ant Tunnel I–IV, Dark Cave, Dangerous Steam, Deep Ant Tunnel I–II, Ant Tunnel Park, The Cave of Evil Eye I–IV, Drake Hunting Ground, The Tunnel That Lost Light I–II, Another Entrance, Another Path, then Sanctuary Entrance I. From Henesys, Sleepywood is 4 maps away: The Road to the Dungeon, Henesys Dungeon Entrance, Swampy Land in a Deep Forest, then Sleepywood. Bring enough potions for the trip, since it's a long walk back to town.
Excavation Site (Perion)
Nexon added the Excavation Site near Perion at Grand Launch, with Ghost Stumps, masks, Skeledogs, Mummydogs and three skeleton types, per its Grand Launch release notes. henesys.gg and NiaMeowDB put the Officer Skeleton at level 63 and the Commander Skeleton at 73, in the Remains and the camps. Our Excavation Site guide covers every map in the area.
Sleepy Dungeon V (Sleepywood)
It's five maps from Sleepywood through Sleepy Dungeon I–IV (mapleclassicguide.com). The October 15 patch thinned it: at most 20 monsters at once, down from 31, with the spawn rate cut from x0.6 to x0.4 (henesys.gg). Dark Stone Golems are weak to holy but not undead, so a Cleric's Heal won't hurt them, and they resist fire and poison (NiaMeowDB). Our Sleepywood guide maps the whole dungeon.
Count the kills per level
These counts divide NiaMeowDB's EXP-to-next-level by each monster's base EXP. They're solo counts with no party bonus and no deaths.
| Level | EXP to next | Tauromacis (337) | Commander Skeleton (390) | Taurospear (429) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 70 → 71 | 2,062,925 | About 6,120 | About 5,290 | About 4,810 |
| 75 → 76 | 2,693,603 | About 7,990 | About 6,910 | About 6,280 |
| 80 → 81 | 3,517,093 | About 10,440 | About 9,020 | About 8,200 |
| 85 → 86 | 4,592,341 | About 13,630 | About 11,780 | About 10,710 |
| 90 → 91 | 11,938,059 | About 35,430 | About 30,610 | About 27,830 |
| 95 → 96 | 487,562,361 | About 1.45 million | About 1.25 million | About 1.14 million |
| 99 → 100 | 9,482,161,548 | About 28.1 million | About 24.3 million | About 22.1 million |
The total EXP to reach 70 is 33,608,280, and the total to reach 90 is 115,260,823 (NiaMeowDB's leveling formulas). So 70 to 90 takes about 81.7 million EXP, roughly 2.4 times everything from 1 to 70. From 90 to 100 takes 18.09 billion, over 200 times more than 70 to 90, because each level from 90 to 99 costs 2.1 times the one before.
Example. A level 78 Ice/Lightning Wizard kills Taurospears in Sanctuary Entrance. At level 80 they need about 8,200 Taurospear kills per level. If the map is too slow because of respawns, a few hours on Sleepy Dungeon V makes a good comparison. Track EXP per hour on both and keep the faster one.
Plan by job
| Job | 70–80 pick | Why (NiaMeowDB elements) |
|---|---|---|
| Ice/Lightning Wizard | Sanctuary Entrance | Tauromacis and Taurospear are weak to ice, so use ice skills there; they resist lightning |
| Fire/Poison Wizard | Wild Kargo's Area, Officer Skeleton camps, Sanctuary Entrance | No monster over 55 on Victoria Island is weak to fire. Avoid Dark Stone Golems and Drakes (resist fire) and Commander Skeletons (immune to poison) |
| Cleric | Excavation Site camps, then Wraiths | Officer and Commander Skeletons and Wraiths are undead, so Heal damages them and keeps the party alive |
| Warrior | Dangerous Valley II, Wild Kargo's Area, Sanctuary Entrance in a party | High HP and Iron Body handle the touch damage; mapleclassicguide.com lists drakes and Kargo for warriors |
| Bowman | Wild Kargo's Area, Sanctuary Entrance in a party | Range keeps you off the Tauros; Final Attack now lasts 60 seconds |
| Thief | Officer Skeleton camps, Wraith lines | Dense, lower-HP maps keep single-target jobs busy instead of waiting on slow respawns |
These picks are our reading of the element data, not measured EXP rates. Element details are in our elements and weaknesses guide, and job builds are in the Ice/Lightning, Fire/Poison and Cleric guides. A level 70 weapon upgrade (the Red Katana or Doombringer for Warriors) is in our swords guide; Magicians can check the wands and staves guide.
Party up for the long grind
NiaMeowDB's party formula (credited to community testers) has three parts:
- Split: 80% of a monster's EXP is shared by level and 20% by the damage each member dealt.
- Member bonus: +10% for each extra eligible member, up to +30%. Eligible means on the same map and active (attacked, took damage or used a skill) within the last 10 seconds.
- Hit bonus: +5% for each extra member who damaged that monster, so a six-player party that all hit the same monster gets +55%.
mapleclassicguide.com marks Sanctuary Entrance as best for parties because the strongest monsters are spread thin, and a party lets one player hold each spawn platform. See our party grinding guide for spawn capacity.
Example. Four players at level 82 split Sanctuary Entrance III and IV. Two players with ice skills take the Taurospear platforms, and two more clear the Tauromacis. Everyone stays on the map, so the four-member bonus (+30%) applies to each share, and nobody waits for a respawn alone. Tagging the same Taurospear before it dies adds the hit bonus on top.
Run a 70+ session
- Check your hit rate first. Taurospear is level 75. If you're under its level, misses add up. Check with our accuracy guide before you commit to a long walk.
- Stock potions in town. Sanctuary Entrance is 19 maps from Sleepywood (mapleclassicguide.com), so running out costs a lot of time.
- Time 30 minutes on each candidate. Write down your EXP at the start and end. Compare Sanctuary Entrance, Excavation Site and Sleepy Dungeon V at your level, since no source has measured live EXP per hour for these maps.
- Avoid deaths. NiaMeowDB's model takes (5 + 20 ÷ base LUK)% of your EXP-to-next-level per death: 7% at 10 LUK, about 5.4% at 50. A Safety Charm stops the loss, and The Journey Begins check-in event hands out three on days 2 and 10 (Nexon). After 90 one death can cost hours; see our EXP table.
- Re-check after patches. The October 15 patch cut Sleepy Dungeon V's spawns, and Grand Launch raised the stagger threshold on drakes and Wild Kargo. Spawn changes can reorder these maps; our patch notes tracker lists them.
Example. A level 86 Hunter has three hours. They spend 30 minutes each on a Wraith map and the Excavation Site's Remains IV, note the EXP gained on each, and spend the last two hours on the faster map. They don't take Sanctuary Entrance solo because the respawn timer leaves too much downtime between kills.
Know what you get at each milestone
| Level | What changes | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 70 | Tauromacis is now even with you, and Sanctuary Entrance parties open up | NiaMeowDB |
| 73–75 | You match the Commander Skeleton and then the Taurospear, the highest-level regular monster | NiaMeowDB |
| 80 | You match Jr. Balrog (2,188 EXP per kill, one spawn), the only level 80 monster | NiaMeowDB |
| 80+ | No new monsters. From here on, it's only about clearing speed | mapleclassicguide.com |
| 90 | EXP per level starts multiplying by 2.1 | NiaMeowDB |
| 100 | The level cap, with no 3rd job yet | Nexon |
Plan around what's coming
- Forgotten Hollow (November). Nexon says the area opens in November; trackers list November 18. Its monsters run from level 45 to 59 (NiaMeowDB), so it won't help much after 80, though mapleclassicguide.com lists it for players who one-shot everything there. See our Forgotten Hollow guide.
- 3rd job and new continents. Nexon is reworking Orbis, El Nath and 3rd job and says it will release them gradually, with no dates yet. Until then, treat 100 as a long-haul goal.
- Stagger fix. Copper Drakes, Drakes, Red Drakes, Torties and Wild Kargo now need more damage to stagger, so knockback-based kiting works less often on those maps (Nexon).
Boosted, returning and alt players
- Returning players should note that guides from the original game send you to Aquarium, Ludibrium or El Nath.
- Characters that leveled fast should check their accuracy before moving to Taurospears (avoid 48); our accuracy guide has the formula.
- Alts don't need to push past 70 to help a main. A level 70 can already join Sanctuary Entrance parties.

What changed for 70+ training at Grand Launch
Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) and the October 22 maintenance changed high-level training more than any patch before it, per Nexon's maintenance notes and release notes:
- A new 70+ option: the Excavation Site's Remains and camps, with Officer (63) and Commander (73) Skeletons.
- 40 channels in Windia, so crowded 70+ maps are easier to find empty.
- Drake and Wild Kargo stagger was corrected, and field boss respawns, Jr. Balrog's included, are now more randomized.
- Final Attack lasts 60 seconds for Warriors and Bowmen, and Iron Body and potion-recovery passives were buffed.
- Anti-bot and anti-RMT rules: citizens can use a Lie Detector Test on a suspected bot on a training map, and the Debt System (October 22) restricts accounts caught in real-money trading. Our bots guide explains both.
The level cap is still 100, and Orbis, El Nath and 3rd job are still closed. The MapleStory Classic hub gathers every guide and service for the game.
FAQ
Where should I train at level 70 in MapleStory Classic? Sanctuary Entrance I–IV in Sleepywood for ice users, the Excavation Site skeleton camps near Perion for Clerics and parties, or Wild Kargo's Area if you can't one-shot the Tauros yet.
What is the highest-level monster in MapleStory Classic? Taurospear, at level 75, among regular monsters. Jr. Balrog is a level 80 boss with a single spawn (NiaMeowDB).
How long does it take to reach level 100? From 90 to 100 takes 18.09 billion EXP, and 99 to 100 alone takes 9.48 billion (NiaMeowDB). That's about 22 million Taurospear kills solo, so 100 is a long-term goal.
How does the party EXP bonus work? Each extra eligible member on the map adds 10%, up to 30%, and each extra member who hits the same monster adds 5%, up to 55% for six (NiaMeowDB).
Is there a 3rd job in MapleStory Classic? Not yet. Classic World has 1st and 2nd job only, and Nexon says 3rd job, Orbis and El Nath will arrive gradually.
Will Forgotten Hollow help after 70? Only a little. Its monsters are levels 45 to 59 and it opens in November, so it suits fast one-shot clearing at best.
