THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • The sources split on what to max first. Planet-helper (built on launch data) and metaroad max Fire Arrow first. Mscw-guidebook maxes Poison Breath first, reaching max by Lv 41. We explain both and when each one wins.
  • Fire Arrow hits one target for 180 base damage plus a 3-second burn. Poison Breath hits up to 6 targets for 80 plus 5 seconds of poison. Classic raised both (planet-helper).
  • Fire/Poison is a fire-first job on Victoria Island. Mscw-guidebook says the Fairy is the only poison-weak monster there. Fire-weak Jr. Wraiths, Cold Eyes, and Crocos carry you to 70.
  • Planet-helper's Founder's Access route: The Land of Wild Boar II (30–34), Line 1/Line 2 (34–38), then Cold Eyes at Another Path from 38 to 70, with Crocos from 52.
  • Don't use Fire Arrow on Drakes or Poison Breath on Curse Eyes. Both resist.

Checked against the Founder's Access build on October 13, 2026. Grand Launch is October 21, 2026; see the end of the guide for what may change.

Decide whether Fire/Poison fits you

Mscw-guidebook says Fire/Poison suits "players who check monster elements before picking a map." You trade map choice for damage. Its level-70 model shows Fire Arrow doing about 1,029,000 damage in five minutes on one fire-weak Yeti, against about 554,000 for Ice/Lightning under the same conditions. The model uses infinite HP and ignores movement, so treat it as a relative comparison only.

If you want… Fire/Poison Ice/Lightning
Single-target damage on fire-weak monsters Stronger (mscw-guidebook Yeti model) Weaker
Busy, crowded maps with many weak-element mobs Fewer choices on Victoria Island Lorangs, Clangs (planet-helper)
A strong first few levels after advancing Poison Breath at Ant Tunnel I (metaroad) Thunder Bolt is weak until the teens (mscw-guidebook)
Poison as a second element Only the Fairy is weak Ice and lightning cover each other

Example: You plan to farm Cold Eyes for weeks and like having quieter maps to yourself. Choose F/P. If you'd rather mob crowded beaches, see our Ice/Lightning guide.

Build first job for MP

All Magicians share first job. Mscw-guidebook's MP Saver build uses the 61 SP from Lv 10 to 30: Energy Bolt 20, Improved MP Recovery 15, Magic Guard 15, Magic Armor 8, Max MP Increase 3, and Magic Claw 0. Raise Energy Bolt and MP Recovery together first. The guide's simulation says this saves about 140 Lemons compared with maxing Magic Guard first. Magic Guard is a toggle, so leave it off until you are surrounded.

Advance to Fire/Poison at level 30

Planet-helper lists the chain. Talk to Grendel the Really Old in the Magic Library. Take his letter to the Magician Job Instructor in The Forest North of Ellinia. Collect 30 Dark Marbles (Magician) from Curse Eyes and Horny Mushrooms in the test area. Then bring The Proof of a Hero back to Grendel and choose F/P Wizard. The first two steps give 4,780 EXP each. All jobs are covered in our job advancement guide.

Accuracy is your first problem. Mscw-guidebook's fresh Lv 30 test mage hits Lv 34 Jr. Wraiths only about 40% of the time. Planet-helper's all-INT table shows 44% at Lv 30, rising to 93% at Lv 35.

Learn the second-job skills

Max-level values from planet-helper unless marked.

Skill Max Effect Notes
Fire Arrow 30 1 target, base 180, burn 50 over 3 seconds Was 130/30 before Classic. Fire-resistant targets aren't burned (mscw)
Poison Breath 30 Bursts on 1 target and hits up to 6, base 80; poison 40 over 5 seconds Was 40 base. Mscw: 75% poison chance, 40 MP
MP Eater 20 50% chance to drain 50% of a monster's max MP; 5-second cooldown (mscw) Ligators and Wild Boars have no MP
Meditation 20 +25 magic attack for the party, 300 seconds (mscw) Requires MP Eater 3
Teleport 20 55 → 15 MP, 110 → 150 distance (mscw)
Slow 20 Up to 6 monsters, −30 speed, −5 avoidability (mscw) Requires Teleport 5

Mscw-guidebook adds the break-even points. One Poison Breath does about 38% less than Energy Bolt on a single target, beats it at 2 targets, and beats Fire Arrow at 3. Fire Arrow with its burn passes max Energy Bolt at skill level 9.

Choose Fire Arrow first or Poison Breath first

This is the main disagreement among the three sources.

Order Source Sequence Wins when
Fire Arrow first planet-helper FA 30 → MP Eater 3 → Meditation 20 → Teleport 20 → PB 30 → MP Eater 20 (120 SP) You solo fire-weak Jr. Wraiths and Cold Eyes
Fire Arrow first, PB 1 early metaroad PB 1, Teleport 1, MP Eater 1, then max FA; skip Slow You want Ant Tunnel I mobbing at Lv 30
Poison Breath first mscw-guidebook FA 1 (30) → Teleport 1 (31) → PB max (41) → MP Eater 3 → Meditation (48) → FA (58) → MP Eater (64) → Teleport/Slow You party on dense maps like Line 2

Planet-helper calls Poison Breath "too weak to lead with" and takes it after Teleport as a backup AoE. Mscw-guidebook's own numbers say level-1 Poison Breath takes about 70% more casts, so it relies on Energy Bolt and Fire Arrow for the first few levels while Poison Breath ramps up. It also notes you can move Fire Arrow ahead of Poison Breath if you plan to farm Forgotten Hollow. Metaroad's closing notes recommend Poison Breath for one-shotting Ant Tunnel I in a group at Lv 30.

Our read: if you solo, go Fire Arrow first. Most of the maps that are open now are single-target, fire-weak farms. If you party on Line 2 or plan to mob Ant Tunnel I, go Poison Breath first.

Compare the endgame SP builds

Levels 30 to 70 give 121 SP, which is 19 short of maxing everything (mscw-guidebook).

Build (source) FA PB MP Eater Meditation Teleport Slow
Teleport build 30 30 20 20 20 1
Slow build 30 30 20 20 5 16
Planet-helper route by Lv 70 30 30 20 20 20 0

Mscw-guidebook recommends the Slow build for hunting fire-weak monsters above your level, such as White Fangs. Metaroad says to skip Slow for now, but it notes Slow was once a prerequisite for a third-job skill, so watch for that when third job is announced.

Pick targets by element

Monster (Lv) Fire Poison Use Source
Dark Axe Stump (23) Weak — Fire Arrow planet-helper
Ligator (31) Weak — Fire Arrow; no MP to drain planet-helper, mscw
Curse Eye (33) — Resists Fire Arrow planet-helper
Jr. Wraith (34) Weak — Fire Arrow / Poison Breath on groups planet-helper
Cold Eye (40) Weak — Fire Arrow planet-helper
Wraith (48) Not fire-weak (Holy only, wiki) — Fire Arrow still 2–3 casts (planet-helper); metaroad lists it as fire-weak planet-helper, metaroad, wiki
Drake (50) Resists — Poison Breath / Energy Bolt planet-helper
Croco (52) Weak — Fire Arrow planet-helper
Red Drake (60) Resists — Avoid planet-helper
Fairy (29) — Weak Poison Breath (but 500 magic defense) mscw
Green Mushroom — Immune Fire Arrow / Energy Bolt mscw

Train from 30 to 70

Planet-helper's route for areas open during Founder's Access:

Level Map Monster Spell Notes
30–34 The Land of Wild Boar II Wild Boar Fire Arrow 1–2 casts
30–35 alt Ant Tunnel I (metaroad) Zombie Mushroom Poison Breath Group AoE
34–38 Line 1 · Line 2 Jr. Wraith Fire Arrow Fire-weak; 2 casts, 1 once maxed at 40. Cursed Doll quests here give 35,100 EXP total
38–70 Another Path · The Tunnel That Lost Light I/II Cold Eye Fire Arrow 100% hit rate all-INT from Lv 38; 3 casts at 38–40, 2 at 50
52+ Dangerous Croko II Croco Fire Arrow Fire-weak

Planet-helper estimates about 103,700 Cold Eye kills from 65 to 70, and notes that EXP from Lv 50 up uses the old formula and is unconfirmed until launch. It also passes on a beta-tester report that poison and burn damage drops sharply on monsters more than 10 levels above you, which is also unconfirmed. Every spot above stays within that gap. Our training guide covers all jobs.

When Forgotten Hollow opens: metaroad and mscw-guidebook both point F/P there. Planet-helper lists Raffles at Forgotten Entrance II/III from 40 (fire-weak, and they drop the Yellow Umbrella), Rafflesias at Forbidden Entrance from 47, and Myewoods and Sporewoods from 54–59. Mscw-guidebook warns that Rafflesias resist poison, so use Fire Arrow on them.

Spend AP and pick a weapon

INT counts twice and LUK adds no damage (mscw-guidebook). Raise LUK only to your next gear requirement: 20 at Lv 30, 30 at 40, and 40 for the Cromi and Lv 50 mage armor. Planet-helper tested both routes and found INT + LUK about 12% ahead at Lv 30–35, even from 40 to 60, and about 7% ahead at 65–70 with Evil Wings.

Level Weapon Requirement Source
15–40 Hardwood Wand, 34 magic attack 30 INT, no LUK; crafted at Woodcrafting Lv 3 planet-helper
30 Mithril Wand 20 LUK planet-helper
35–60 Wizard Wand 25 LUK planet-helper
40–70 Yellow Umbrella, 52 magic attack None; one-handed sword, so wand scrolls don't apply planet-helper
65+ Evil Wings 60 LUK planet-helper

The Yellow Umbrella's confirmed dropper, the Raffle, lives only in closed Forgotten Hollow. Planet-helper lists the Clang as an unconfirmed second source. Mscw-guidebook's rule for same-level gear is to take the wand over the staff. Scroll options are in our scrolling guide.

Play your party and boss role

  • Meditation gives the party +25 magic attack. Mscw-guidebook measured about +12% spell damage.
  • Slow decides Jr. Balrog. In mscw-guidebook's test, mages and warriors can't hit it until Slow lands, and then they reach about 18–20%.
  • Line 2 parties: metaroad calls it "one of the highest-density maps," good for F/P and Clerics together, which suits a Poison Breath-first build. A Cleric partner covers holy-weak Wraiths.
  • Refresh Meditation every 300 seconds, and bring extra potions on Ligator maps where MP Eater does nothing (mscw-guidebook).

Example: In a four-player Line 2 party, a Poison Breath-first F/P tags groups of Jr. Wraiths while the Cleric heals. Planet-helper lists the party EXP bonus at +30% for 4 or more players.

Return to F/P after a break

  • Coming back from old GMS? Fire Arrow and Poison Breath both hit harder, and poison is now 5 seconds of spell damage that can finish monsters (mscw-guidebook). Third job isn't in Founder's Access, per Nexon's notes, and planet-helper says the fire-weak El Nath snowfield waits for Orbis and El Nath to open.
  • Back from a closed test? Swap any Forgotten Hollow plan for Cold Eyes and Crocos until it opens.

Plan a boosted or alt F/P

  • Powerleveled character: check which attack has the points before you pick a map. A Poison Breath-maxed Lv 40 belongs on Line 2, not in Cold Eye tunnels. A powerleveling service changes your level, not your build.
  • Alt: the MP Saver first job is the same for every Magician branch. An F/P and a Cleric make a good duo. See our world-first party plan.

What may change at Grand Launch

This guide describes the Founder's Access build as it was on October 13, 2026. Re-check these against Nexon's Grand Launch notes on October 21: whether crafting still stops at craft level 8, whether Forgotten Hollow, Orbis and third jobs stay closed, KPQ channel limits, NPC shop stock, and any Founder's Access-only events or packages mentioned here. Nothing here assumes a closed area or feature will open.

FAQ

Should F/P max Fire Arrow or Poison Breath first? Planet-helper and metaroad say Fire Arrow, and mscw-guidebook says Poison Breath (maxed by Lv 41). Solo players on fire-weak maps should take Fire Arrow. Party mobbers on Line 2 should take Poison Breath.

Does Fire Arrow hit multiple monsters? No. It hits 1 target for 180 plus a 50-damage burn over 3 seconds (planet-helper). Poison Breath is the multi-target spell, hitting up to 6.

Where should F/P train during Founder's Access? Planet-helper's route: The Land of Wild Boar II (30–34), Line 1/2 (34–38), Cold Eyes at Another Path (38–70), and Crocos from 52.

Which monsters resist fire? Drakes, Copper Drakes, Red Drakes, Fire Boars, Maladies, and Dark Stone Golems (planet-helper, mscw-guidebook).

Is poison useful on Victoria Island? Mostly for mobbing. Mscw-guidebook says the Fairy is the only poison-weak monster, and Green Mushrooms are immune.

Is Slow worth taking? For grinding, metaroad says skip it. Mscw-guidebook's Slow build takes 16 points for fighting monsters above your level and for Jr. Balrog.

Can F/P use the Yellow Umbrella? Yes. It has no stat requirement, but it's a one-handed sword, so wand scrolls don't work on it. It drops from Raffles in closed Forgotten Hollow.
