TBC Anniversary PvP Tier List: Season 3 Arena Specs Ranked
TBC Anniversary PvP tier list for Arena Season 3: every spec ranked for 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 by a stated score built on live ladder data, plus best comps.

In this guide 12 sections
Quick summary
- Top 3v3 specs in Arena Season 3: Subtlety Rogue, Discipline Priest, Restoration Druid and Frost Mage. They are the only four specs that score full marks on our five-point test: above the ladder average in both regions, a big ladder share, a deep class top 100, and a core seat in a top comp.
- Best 3v3 comp: RMP (Rogue, Mage, Priest), then RLD or RLP with a Soul Link Warlock.
- 2v2 belongs to Rogues and Druids, who hold the most top-100 spots on both regions. 5v5 belongs to Shamans and Priests.
- TBC has no rated battlegrounds or Solo Shuffle. The rated brackets are 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5, and battlegrounds only give Honor.
This TBC Anniversary PvP tier list ranks every spec for Arena Season 3, which started on September 1, 2026, according to Blizzard's Phase 3 announcement. The Zul'Aman update of October 22 added no new arena season, so these rankings carry through Phase 3.5. Ladder figures are Pvplog snapshots from October 27 and 28, 2026, covering about 30,000 ranked characters across EU and US.
How this TBC Anniversary arena tier list is scored
We don't copy anyone's tiers. Each spec gets up to five points from public ladder data and one comp check, and the tier follows from the score.
| Point | Test | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Spec average rating beats the 3v3 ladder average in EU | Winning more than its share of games |
| 2 | Same test in the US | Not a one-region quirk |
| 3 | Spec is at least 5% of the whole 3v3 ladder | Enough players to trust the average |
| 4 | The spec's class holds 12 or more top-100 spots in both regions | It climbs to Gladiator range |
| 5 | The spec is a core member of a comp in our 3v3 comp table below | It has a team that wants it |
Tiers: S = 5 points, A = 3–4, B = 2, C = 0–1. Two guards keep tiny samples honest: a spec under 1% of the ladder is capped at C, because a handful of strong players can lift its average, and a spec under 0.5% of the ladder goes to D.
Popularity alone isn't strength. Arms Warrior is about 11% of the 3v3 ladder but averages below it in both regions. Hunters are rare, and the data shows why.
One labeling trap. Armory sites name a spec by the tree with the most points. Most PvP Warlocks run Soul Link builds (SL/SL), which spend heavily in Demonology. So Pvplog lists 71.5% of EU 3v3 Warlocks as "Demonology" (66.1% in the US). Read that row as SL/SL, not as a pure Demonology build.
Season 3 arena ladder by class (3v3)
3v3 shares and average ratings (Pvplog, October 27, 2026). EU ladder average 1,853; US ladder average 1,801. A re-check on October 28 moved no class by more than three top-100 spots.
| Class | EU share | EU avg | EU top 100 | US share | US avg | US top 100 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Priest | 17.5% | 1,872 | 17 | 17.0% | 1,821 | 22 |
| Rogue | 15.4% | 1,879 | 25 | 14.3% | 1,825 | 21 |
| Warrior | 14.5% | 1,821 | 7 | 15.2% | 1,772 | 5 |
| Shaman | 13.6% | 1,829 | 9 | 13.5% | 1,784 | 8 |
| Druid | 13.3% | 1,849 | 12 | 12.7% | 1,792 | 13 |
| Mage | 10.6% | 1,873 | 13 | 10.9% | 1,831 | 14 |
| Warlock | 7.6% | 1,865 | 9 | 7.7% | 1,815 | 13 |
| Paladin | 4.7% | 1,827 | 5 | 5.5% | 1,758 | 2 |
| Hunter | 2.9% | 1,828 | 2 | 3.1% | 1,780 | 1 |
Specs within each class (3v3, share of class · average rating, EU / US):
| Class | Main spec | Second spec | Third spec |
|---|---|---|---|
| Priest | Discipline 73.4% · 1,879 / 74.7% · 1,821 | Shadow 15.0% · 1,845 / 14.4% · 1,826 | Holy 11.5% · 1,855 / 11.0% · 1,814 |
| Rogue | Subtlety 76.3% · 1,889 / 77.7% · 1,823 | Combat 23.4% · 1,846 / 21.6% · 1,834 | Assassination 0.3% / 0.7% |

| Shaman | Restoration 46.5% · 1,862 / 51.6% · 1,817 | Enhancement 38.5% · 1,784 / 35.7% · 1,745 | Elemental 15.0% · 1,844 / 12.7% · 1,762 |
| Druid | Restoration 67.0% · 1,884 / 64.6% · 1,815 | Feral 28.4% · 1,771 / 29.4% · 1,741 | Balance 4.6% · 1,830 / 6.0% · 1,787 |

| Warlock | "Demonology" (SL/SL) 71.5% · 1,874 / 66.1% · 1,833 | Destruction 19.1% · 1,812 / 22.5% · 1,774 | Affliction 9.4% · 1,902 / 11.4% · 1,788 |
| Paladin | Retribution 58.0% · 1,852 / 64.7% · 1,769 | Holy 26.9% · 1,817 / 20.4% · 1,745 | Protection 15.1% / 14.9% |
| Hunter | Beast Mastery 67.8% · 1,803 / 68.6% · 1,764 | Survival 22.6% · 1,856 / 23.7% · 1,817 | Marksmanship 9.6% / 7.7% |
A spec's share of the whole ladder is its class share times its spec share. Frost Mage, for example, is 10.6% × 75.5%, or about 8% of EU 3v3.
Best 3v3 specs: Season 3 tier list
| Tier | Specs | Score and reason |
|---|---|---|
| S | Subtlety Rogue, Discipline Priest, Restoration Druid, Frost Mage | 5/5. Above average in both regions, 8–13% of the ladder each, deep class top 100, and the core of RMP and RLD |
| A | SL/SL Warlock, Restoration Shaman | 4/5. Above average in both regions and over 5% of the ladder, but their classes hold fewer than 12 EU top-100 spots |
| A | Shadow Priest, Holy Priest | 3/5. Priests hold a deep top 100. Shadow beats the US average and anchors Shadowplay. Holy beats both averages from a small group of about 2% of the ladder |
| B | Arms Warrior, Arcane Mage, Combat Rogue | 2/5. Arms is a big share of the ladder and anchors the Warrior cleaves, but sits below average in both regions. Arcane and Combat beat the US average and ride on deep class top-100 numbers |
| C | Retribution Paladin, Elemental Shaman, Enhancement Shaman, Feral Druid, Fury Warrior, Destruction Warlock, Beast Mastery Hunter, Holy Paladin | 0–1. Below the ladder average in both regions |
| C (small sample) | Survival Hunter, Affliction Warlock, Balance Druid, Protection Paladin | Under 1% of the ladder. Survival and Affliction post high averages, so treat them as specs to watch, not traps |
| D | Protection Warrior, Fire Mage, Assassination Rogue, Marksmanship Hunter | Under 0.5% of the ladder. Skill can carry them, but you're playing uphill |
Example. If you want to reach 2,000 in 3v3 and have no main yet, look at the S and A rows and pick a role your friends lack. A Disc Priest is the easiest spec to find a team for, because Priests are 17% of the ladder and almost every top comp wants one.
Best 3v3 comps in TBC Anniversary
| Rank | Comp | Specs | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | RMP | Subtlety Rogue, Frost Mage, Disc Priest | Layered crowd control (Sap, Polymorph, Fear, Silence) and burst. The hardest comp to learn |
| 2 | RLD / RLP | Subtlety Rogue, SL/SL Warlock, Resto Druid or Disc Priest | Constant pressure through Curse of Tongues, Fear and Rogue control |
| 3 | MLP | Frost Mage, SL/SL Warlock, Disc Priest | Ranged control and spread damage. Struggles against heavy melee |
| 4 | Mage/Priest/Shaman | Frost Mage, Disc Priest, Resto Shaman | Double healer with Mana Burn and Bloodlust windows |
| 5 | HPD | Survival or BM Hunter, Disc Priest, Resto Druid | Drain comp. Wins through mana loss |
| 6 | Warrior cleaves (WSP, WSD, WMP, WMD) | Arms Warrior + Resto Shaman or Frost Mage + Disc Priest or Resto Druid | Mortal Strike pressure. Lacks control against RMP |
| 7 | Shadowplay | Shadow Priest, Affliction Warlock, Resto Shaman | Spread damage over time. Low mobility |
The comp order follows Warcraft Tavern's 3v3 comp rankings, and we use the table only for point 5 of the score. For talents, partners and gear for each comp, see the TBC Anniversary PvP comps and builds guide.
Best 2v2 classes: Season 3 tier list
Pvplog doesn't split 2v2 by spec on its class summary, so 2v2 and 5v5 are ranked by class on one rule: combined EU + US top-100 spots. S = 35 or more, A = 20–34, B = 10–19, C = under 10. Each class is shown with its most-played arena spec.
| Class | EU share · avg · top 100 | US share · avg · top 100 | Combined top 100 | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rogue (Subtlety) | 22.6% · 1,995 · 27 | 21.8% · 1,872 · 25 | 52 | S |
| Druid (Restoration) | 16.1% · 1,991 · 15 | 16.5% · 1,871 · 22 | 37 | S |
| Warlock (SL/SL) | 7.6% · 1,980 · 9 | 8.4% · 1,862 · 19 | 28 | A |
| Priest (Discipline) | 17.3% · 1,979 · 13 | 15.7% · 1,874 · 12 | 25 | A |
| Mage (Frost) | 9.5% · 1,983 · 8 | 9.5% · 1,889 · 9 | 17 | B |
| Warrior (Arms) | 14.5% · 1,968 · 9 | 15.7% · 1,840 · 7 | 16 | B |
| Paladin (Retribution or Holy) | 4.1% · 1,999 · 9 | 3.7% · 1,859 · 4 | 13 | B |
| Shaman (Restoration) | 6.1% · 1,948 · 7 | 6.2% · 1,821 · 2 | 9 | C |
| Hunter (Beast Mastery or Survival) | 2.2% · 2,018 · 1 | 2.5% · 1,851 · 0 | 1 | C |
2v2 data from Pvplog, October 28, 2026. Hunter has the highest EU average from a very small group, so its average is not a reason to pick it.
Example. Two friends, one healer and one damage dealer: Rogue with a Disc Priest or Resto Druid is the default. If neither wants a Rogue, Druid and Warlock are the next two classes by US top-100 spots, so a Warlock with a Resto Druid is the natural second choice.
Best 5v5 classes: Season 3 tier list
| Class | EU share · avg · top 100 | US share · avg · top 100 | Combined top 100 | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shaman (Restoration) | 19.0% · 1,996 · 20 | 19.0% · 1,935 · 21 | 41 | S |
| Priest (Discipline) | 18.8% · 1,994 · 20 | 17.6% · 1,942 · 15 | 35 | S |
| Mage (Frost) | 12.9% · 2,009 · 16 | 12.5% · 1,961 · 11 | 27 | A |
| Warlock (SL/SL) | 7.4% · 2,009 · 12 | 6.2% · 1,981 · 12 | 24 | A |
| Rogue (Subtlety) | 6.3% · 2,004 · 9 | 6.7% · 1,973 · 15 | 24 | A |
| Warrior (Arms) | 12.9% · 1,972 · 8 | 16.1% · 1,909 · 9 | 17 | B |
| Druid (Restoration) | 9.7% · 1,985 · 8 | 9.2% · 1,931 · 6 | 14 | B |
| Paladin (Holy or Retribution) | 8.3% · 1,972 · 4 | 8.7% · 1,910 · 4 | 8 | C |
| Hunter | 4.7% · 1,968 · 1 | 4.0% · 1,921 · 2 | 3 | C |
5v5 data from Pvplog, October 28, 2026. Bloodlust and Power Infusion burst windows explain why Shamans and Priests fill the top. If you want gear with a rating requirement, 5v5 averages run higher than 3v3, so the same rating can be easier to reach there.
Best PvP spec by role and goal
| Goal | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best healer | Disc Priest, then Resto Druid | S tier in 3v3, and Priest is the most-played 3v3 class |
| Best melee DPS | Subtlety Rogue | S tier in 3v3 and 2v2, most EU 3v3 top-100 spots |
| Best ranged DPS | Frost Mage | S tier in 3v3, A tier in 5v5, fits RMP and MLP |
| Easiest team to find | Disc Priest or Resto Druid | Every top comp needs a healer |
| Melee main without Rogue | Arms Warrior | Fits the Warrior cleaves and Warrior/Druid 2v2, but needs a good healer |
| Long, attrition games | SL/SL Warlock | Spread pressure in RLD, RLP and MLP |
| Tank in arena | None | Every tank spec is under 0.5–1% of the ladder |
Each class guide covers that spec's PvP talents and gear: Rogue, Warrior, Warlock, Shaman, Priest, Mage and Druid.
Best specs for TBC battlegrounds
TBC battlegrounds are unrated, so pick by role instead of by tier.
| Role | Strong picks | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Flag carrier (Warsong Gulch) | Feral or Resto Druid | Forms, speed and survivability |
| Node defense (Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm) | Protection or Arms Warrior, Feral Druid, Subtlety Rogue | Hold or retake nodes |
| Team fights | Disc Priest, Resto Druid, Resto Shaman, Frost Mage, Affliction Warlock, Balance Druid | Area heals, control and spread damage |
These roles are our editorial read of how each class's tools fit each battleground objective. They aren't ladder data, because battlegrounds have no ladder.
Season 3 Gladiator cutoffs and key numbers
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Season 3 start | September 1, 2026, with regional weekly resets (Blizzard) |
| Ranked characters (all brackets) | 30,375 (Pvplog, October 27) |
| Projected 3v3 Gladiator cutoff | EU 2,389 · US 2,284 (Pvplog, October 27) |
| Projected 2v2 Gladiator cutoff | EU 2,576 · US 2,431 (Pvplog, October 27) |
| Projected 5v5 Gladiator cutoff | EU 2,438 · US 2,410 (Pvplog, October 27) |
Cutoffs move every day, so check Pvplog the week the season ends. Vengeful Gladiator shoulders and weapons carry personal-rating requirements, so read the vendor tooltip before you save for them. The PvP comps and builds guide covers the other currencies and vendors.
If you're returning, boosted, or on an alt
- You start Season 3 from zero Arena Points; Season 2 points were converted to Honor at 1 to 10.
- Boosted characters: the arena gear vendors don't care how you leveled, but your gems and enchants matter. See the Phase 3 gems and enchants guide, and budget for them with the gold farming guide.
- Alts: pick the role your arena friends are missing, not the top of the list. A second healer (Disc Priest or Resto Druid) is the fastest way to more games a week. PvE players can compare with the DPS tier list, since many arena specs are weak raiders and the other way round.
Arena services from independent sellers are listed on the TBC Anniversary PvP page, and the rest of our guides sit on the TBC Anniversary hub. Blizzard's End User License Agreement restricts account sharing, and a marketplace listing isn't publisher permission.
