MapleStory Classic Glossary: Chat Terms, Slang, Trade Shorthand
In this guide 14 sections
THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • Learn 16 terms first: B> S> WTB WTS ea k m for trading, LF R> J> inv CC for parties, and ty np brb gg for small talk. Planet-helper says those 16 "are enough" to start.
  • Trade posts: a/w is the instant-buy price, c/o is the current offer, s/b is the starting bid, and ea means each (NiaMeowDB, planet-helper).
  • Meso shorthand: k = thousand, m = million, b = billion. Planet-helper notes there's no "man" (10,000) unit.
  • Some old terms changed: in Classic, "60% scroll" means an Intermediate scroll, and HS (Holy Symbol) is a self-revive rather than an EXP buff.
  • Old-game slang isn't proof of how Classic works. NiaMeowDB: old MapleStory behavior "does not prove Classic World behavior."

Checked against the Founder's Access build on October 13, 2026. Grand Launch is October 21, 2026; see the end of the guide for what may change.

Avoid the common misreadings

  • Treating a/w as a starting price. It's the instant-buy price. The starting bid is s/b (planet-helper).
  • Asking a Priest for HS. In Classic it's a self-revive.
  • Reading "10%" as no-risk. It could be a Chaos scroll, which can destroy the item (NiaMeowDB).
  • Thinking 10k means 10,000,000. It means 10,000 mesos.
  • Asking for an LPQ party. It isn't in the launch data (planet-helper, NiaMeowDB).

Returning players and alts

  • Returning players: NiaMeowDB warns that old MapleStory and "pre-BB" labels aren't proof of how Classic works. Check the table of changed terms above before trusting an old guide.
  • Alts: recruiting lines like J> KPQ work for any character from Lv 21 (NiaMeowDB, planet-helper). Put your level and job in the line.
  • Job terms: our job advancement guide explains 1st and 2nd job. Our leveling page and the MapleStory Classic hub have more.

What may change at Grand Launch

This guide describes the Founder's Access build as it was on October 13, 2026. Re-check these against Nexon's Grand Launch notes on October 21: whether crafting still stops at craft level 8, whether Forgotten Hollow, Orbis and third jobs stay closed, KPQ channel limits, NPC shop stock, and any Founder's Access-only events or packages mentioned here. Nothing here assumes a closed area or feature will open.
