THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • The only fixed income is quests. mapleclassic.wiki counts 226 quests that pay mesos, 200,783 mesos in total, as a one-time sum. Shumi's Lost Sack of Cash (10,000) and the Florina Beach chain (15,210) pay the most.
  • NPC selling pays fixed prices, the same at every shop, and there's no vendor arbitrage. Sell drops you didn't pay for.
  • Hunting and crafting income isn't measured yet. No site has drop rates. Time your own sessions and keep net income (mesos minus potions and ammo).
  • Spending is the bigger lever early. Potions, stars, arrows, MP, and taxis drain new characters. Citizenship cuts cab, storage, and some shop prices.
  • Player trading through the Free Market (Player Store, Hired Merchant) is where scrolls, stars, and crafting materials sell. Nexon's terms ban real-money trading.

Checked against the Founder's Access build on October 13, 2026. Grand Launch is October 21, 2026; see the end of the guide for what may change.

Run the quest circuit by level band

The best meso quests per band (mesos from mapleclassic.wiki). Our quests worth doing guide covers the item rewards.

Band Quests to prioritize Mesos
1–10 Mai's Final Training, Pio's Collecting Recycled Goods 150 each
8–12 Olaf's Training (2), Teo's Collection (2), Phil's Call 245–277 each
10–15 Nella's requests (Andre, Don Hwang, Shumi), crafting "Apprentice" quests 351 each
12 Citizenship "First Greeting" quests (Dark Lord, Athena Pierce, Chief Stan, Chun Ji) 1,023 each
15–20 Crafting "in Need of Help" quests, the fossil quests (Betty, Winston) 497–555 each
20–30 Jane and the Mushroom, the Lv 21 Maya and Teo chain, Nella's Lv 22 requests, Lv 27–28 signature quests 658–892 each
30–40 Shumi's three jump quests (12,222 total), Florina Beach I–IV (15,210 total), Mr. Wetbottom chain, Rowen's dolls 994–10,000
40–50 Ronnie's house deliveries, Pia, Jane the Alchemist, Icarus, Blackbull, the Alligators 1,301–1,506 each
50+ Manji and Sabitrama (1,579), Lv 57 class and craft quests (1,784 each), John's Presents (2,032 each) —

The quest money runs out. mapleclassic.wiki points out that's why new characters rarely feel poor and level 50 ones often do. Plan a steady income before your quests dry up.

Sell to shops the right way

  • Check the sell price in the shop window before confirming. It's the same in every shop.
  • There's no arbitrage. mapleclassic.wiki checked every shop. No item sells for less at one than another pays for it.
  • Keep quest items. Cursed Dolls, Stone Golem Rubble, Screws, Jr. Necki Skins, Dragon Skins, and Mushroom Caps are worth more as quest inputs (see the quests guide's save list).
  • Use a separate inventory tab mindset. Marketable drops go to storage or the Free Market. NPC trash gets sold.

Farm drops other players need

Fan databases list these drops (no rates). Check the Free Market price before committing an evening:

Map Levels Drop Who buys it
The Pig Beach 15–20 Leather, Stiff Feathers Crafters, Icarus questers
Damp Forest 21–26 Jr. Necki Skins Questers (Nella, Luke, the Alligators)
Land of Wild Boar 25–30 Leather, Animal Fur, Wooden Tops, Sap of Ancient Tree Crafters, Jane the Alchemist
The Burnt Land II 30–35 Wolbi Throwing Stars, Diamond Ore, Arwen's Glass Shoe Thieves, crafters
Monkey Swamp III 36–45 Cursed Dolls Rowen questers (570 needed)
Drake Hunting Ground 40–50 Dragon Skin, Drake's Blood Crafters (Dragon Skin is in 23 recipes, per NiaMeowDB)
Wraith maps 46+ Red Whip Everyone (15 Speed)
Golem's Temple 50+ Tobi Throwing Stars, Stone Golem Rubble Thieves, Blackbull and Maya questers
Mushmom and Zombie Mushmom 40–55 Ilbi Throwing Stars, earring scrolls, crafting catalysts Thieves, scrollers, crafters

The training guide has every map by level. The best farm is one that also levels you.

Cut your running costs

Cost Who pays most How to cut it
HP potions Melee (Fighter, Bandit, Spearman) Train one bracket lower if you need 4+ hits per kill. Use a Cleric party.
MP potions Ice/Lightning and Fire/Poison Wizards Use your cheapest efficient skill on weak mobs
Throwing stars Assassins Use the cheapest star that kills in the same hits. Farm Wolbi and Ilbi stars yourself.
Arrows Bowmen Hunters skip arrow cost with Soul Arrow: Bow (planet-helper)
Taxis and VIP Cab Everyone Walk short routes, and use Return Scrolls from quests
Deaths Everyone Don't fight above your level without enough accuracy

The best class tier list ranks jobs by meso efficiency. Cleric, Hunter, Fighter, and Page are the cheap ones.

Example: a Lv 32 Assassin keeps buying the next tier of stars while training where cheaper stars kill in the same number of hits. Dropping back a tier until the next map change saves more than an extra hour of farming earns.

Use Citizenship to save mesos

Nexon's notes list these perks for official residents of Henesys and Kerning City (from Lv 12): discounted cabs, Storage Keeper services, and some general store items, plus the town's specialty shop. Join Henesys through Arthur in Henesys Town Hall, or Kerning City through Roxy in the Kerning City Civic Center. Pick the town you restock and travel from most.

At Lv 57, "Becoming a Citizen of Honor" pays 1,248 mesos. metaroad notes that Raymond in Henesys Town Hall sells Elixirs (35% HP and MP) only to a Citizen of Honor.

Craft only when the numbers work

Six crafting NPCs open at Lv 10: Silas Irons (Smithing), Mr. Thunder (Weaponcrafting), Francois (Tailoring), Vicious (Woodcrafting), JM From tha Streetz (Leatherworking), and Chrishrama (Arcforge). mapleclassic.wiki notes that almost no recipe uses shop-bought ingredients, and the two that do lose money. So:

  1. Compare the material price with the finished item price in the Free Market.
  2. If the materials are worth more, sell the materials.
  3. Craft to save mesos on gear you need, or when finished items clearly sell for more.
  4. Do the crafting weeklies (from Lv 15) and "In My Own Right!" (Lv 25, 804 mesos and a catalyst).

Sell and buy in the Free Market

Classic World has no auction house. Community wikis describe the Free Market entrance as a monster-free plaza reached by portal from Perion and Henesys, with numbered rooms.

  • Player Store: opened with a store permit. It closes when you log out.
  • Hired Merchant: keeps selling while you're offline. Collect earnings from Fredrick at the entrance.
  • Price from evidence: check the same item in several rooms. Undercut slightly for a fast sale, or match the going rate if you can wait. Record what actually sold.
  • Do the "Welcome to the Free Market!" chain at Lv 13 (four quests at 424 EXP and 306 mesos each) to learn the layout.

Trade without getting scammed

  1. Check the item itself: stats and upgrade slots vary between copies.
  2. Check the scroll grade. Classic World uses Lesser, Intermediate, Greater, and Chaos, not old percentage names.
  3. Recount the mesos in the window just before the final confirm.
  4. Never trade in stages "on trust," and never share login details.

Test a farm with a timed session

  1. Note your mesos and potion count.
  2. Farm 15 minutes on one map, then sell the NPC trash.
  3. Net = mesos gained + Free Market value of keepers − potions and ammo used. Multiply by four for an hourly figure.

maplestory-classic.com's mesos calculator does the same arithmetic. Compare two maps, not one map against an online guess.

If you were powerleveled or are returning

A powerleveled character often has few quest mesos and expensive supply needs. Do the Lv 30–40 meso chains you skipped (Shumi, Florina Beach), switch to a cheaper map for your job, and sell quest-irrelevant drops. Returning players: old meso tricks like vendor flipping don't work here.

Want a hand with this?

If you would rather skip the grind that goes with this, MapleStory Classic powerleveling services are listed on FullBoosts. Read Nexon's Terms of Service before you buy any service from anyone, FullBoosts included — a marketplace listing isn't publisher permission.

What may change at Grand Launch

This guide describes the Founder's Access build as it was on October 13, 2026. Re-check these against Nexon's Grand Launch notes on October 21: whether crafting still stops at craft level 8, whether Forgotten Hollow, Orbis and third jobs stay closed, KPQ channel limits, NPC shop stock, and any Founder's Access-only events or packages mentioned here. Nothing here assumes a closed area or feature will open.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make mesos fast in MapleStory Classic?

Do the meso quests near your level (the Lv 35–37 Shumi and Florina Beach chains pay over 27,000 together), sell drops you don't need, farm items other players need, and keep potion and ammo spending low.

How many mesos do quests give in total?

mapleclassic.wiki lists 200,783 mesos across 226 quests. It's a one-time sum, not a repeatable income.

What is the best meso farm in MapleStory Classic?

There's no measured answer yet, because no site has drop rates. Farm maps with drops players buy (stars, Dragon Skin, Cursed Dolls) that also give good experience for your level, and time your sessions.

Is crafting profitable in MapleStory Classic?

Sometimes. Almost every recipe uses gathered materials, so profit depends on Free Market prices for materials versus finished items. Compare them before crafting to sell.

Which class saves the most mesos?

Community meso-efficiency lists favor Cleric, with Hunter, Fighter, and Page next. Assassins pay for stars, and wizards pay for MP.

What is a Hired Merchant?

A shop that keeps selling in the Free Market while you're offline. Collect earnings from Fredrick at the Free Market entrance.

Is buying mesos allowed in MapleStory Classic?

No. Nexon's terms prohibit real-money trading of virtual currency, and violations can lead to account action.
