THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • Three jump quests are open: the Forest of Patience (5 steps, entered from Ellinia), the Deep Forest of Patience (7 steps, entered from Sleepywood), and Shumi's subway course under Kerning City (3 areas). Sources: MapleClassic Wiki, henesys.gg.
  • Quests that need them: Sabitrama (Lv 25 and 50) for the Forest, Shumi (Lv 35) for the subway, and John (Lv 65 by most sources) for the Deep Forest (MapleClassic Wiki, henesys.gg, planet-helper).
  • Best reward: Sabitrama's second quest gives the Star Rock you need for Manji's Gladius (henesys.gg). Shumi's last step pays 10,000 mesos (MapleClassic Wiki).
  • The hazards can't be killed: the Super Jr. Neckis and Super Slimes inside are Lv 200 with 9,999 HP and give 0 EXP. Treat them as obstacles.
  • Jump caps at 120 in Classic. A Thief's Haste adds 10 Jump (NiaMeowDB).

Checked against the Founder's Access build on October 13, 2026. Grand Launch is October 21, 2026; see the end of the guide for what may change.

Pick the right jump quest

Course Steps Entry Quests that use it Level Source
The Forest of Patience 5 Pay Shane in Ellinia Sabitrama and the Diet Medicine; Sabitrama's Anti-Aging Medicine 25; 50 Wiki, henesys.gg, planet-helper
Shumi's subway course 3 areas (B1–B3) Kerning City subway Shumi's Lost Coin, Roll of Cash, Sack of Cash 35 Wiki, henesys.gg
The Deep Forest of Patience 7 Mysterious Statue in Sleepywood John's Pink Flower Basket, Present, Last Present 65 Wiki, henesys.gg

Do them in level order. The Forest is the shortest and teaches the long jumps. Shumi is a three-trip questline. The Deep Forest is the longest, and John sends you back three times.

Compare the rewards

Questline Total EXP Total mesos Fame Items Source
Sabitrama (2 quests) 15,960 (3,060 + 12,900) 2,383 (804 + 1,579) 3 (1 from the first quest, 2 from the second) Overall Armor DEF Scroll (Intermediate or Greater, 50% each); Star Rock Wiki, henesys.gg, planet-helper
Shumi (3 quests) 20,160 (6,720 × 3) 12,222 (1,111 + 1,111 + 10,000) 6 (1 + 2 + 3) Return Scrolls (5 Nearest Town and 3 for each town), 30 Blue Potions, 30 Mana Elixirs Wiki, henesys.gg
John (3 quests) 77,700 (25,900 × 3) 6,096 (2,032 × 3) 5 (1 + 1 + 3) 30 Screws, class gloves, Pink-Flowered Earrings Wiki, henesys.gg, planet-helper

These rewards are mostly mesos, Fame, and items. At Lv 65, John's 25,900 EXP per quest is a small part of a level (see our quests guide). Shumi's Return Scrolls cover a lot of travel; our travel guide shows what each scroll replaces. The Fame adds up too. See our Fame guide for where you'll need it.

Know your jump stats

The numbers come from NiaMeowDB's frame-by-frame measurements of the second closed test (community data):

Stat Classic value What it means for jump quests
Base Jump 100, which rises 77 px Every gap in the course is built for this
Jump cap 120 (was 123 before Big Bang) Gear can't push you past it
Thief Haste +10 Jump, about 16 px more height Easier ledges for Thieves
Speed Base 100 = 150 px/s; cap 140 = 200 px/s More speed means longer, harder-to-control jumps
Climbing Speed + 20 px/s (120 px/s at base) Haste also speeds up ropes
Nimble Feet Beginner skill, 10–30 s, 3 min cooldown Short burst only

NiaMeowDB notes that Classic adds 20 hidden Speed. Your 100 Speed moves like the old 120, so old pre-Big Bang jump videos run a little slower than you will. If you overshoot ledges, take off speed gear.

Climb the Forest of Patience

Start: take Sabitrama's quest in front of the Sleepywood Hotel. Then pay Shane in Ellinia to enter (henesys.gg). The fee isn't recorded on any Classic page we checked. a Nexon community post about the modern game's Forest of Patience cites 25,300 mesos, but that's for modern MapleStory, where a different NPC (Hersha) gives the quest. Henesys.gg says Shane lets you in for free after you finish the first Sabitrama quest.

Step What's there Source
1 Louis, the exit NPC; portals to Step 2 Wiki
2 A pile of flowers; Louis Wiki
3 Louis; portals to Step 4 Wiki
4 17 Super Jr. Neckis (Lv 200, 9,999 HP, 0 EXP, 1 s respawn); Louis Wiki
5 A pile of herbs; Louis; the top of the course Wiki

What to pick: for the Diet Medicine, henesys.gg says to climb to the top and pick "the herb with green grass and a small pink flower" (Pink Anthurium). For the Anti-Aging Medicine, pick "the herb with a reddish root split in two" (Double-Rooted Red Ginseng). Both need only 1 item, so a single clear can finish each quest.

Step 4: with 17 Neckis and a 1-second respawn, you can't clear the map. Time your jumps around them instead. The Peak post (modern MapleStory) says one player struggled for 30 minutes on an alt but cleared it in one try on a main whose Neckis "dealt no damage." That's a modern-game anecdote, not tested Classic data.

Run Shumi's subway course

Start: Shumi in Kerning City. Henesys.gg says a group in white clothes took the lucky coin she borrowed.

  1. Coin (B1): go down into the Kerning City subway and work through Construction Site B1 to find Shumi's Coin. Turning it in gives the Return Scroll bundle (henesys.gg, wiki).
  2. Roll of Cash (B2): a Stirge grabbed her rent money, and it fell into Construction Site B2. You get 30 Blue Potions.
  3. Sack of Cash (B3): she dropped the sack that JM From tha Streetz gave her, deep in Construction Site B3. You get 10,000 mesos and 30 Mana Elixirs.

All three steps open at Lv 35, and each needs the one before it (wiki). The 10,000 mesos is a large payout for Lv 35. If you're saving up, see our mesos guide.

Get through the Deep Forest of Patience

Start: John in Lith Harbor (middle). Then use the Mysterious Statue in the middle of Sleepywood to enter (henesys.gg). The wiki gives Sleepywood as the return map for every step.

Step What's there Quest item Source
1 Crumbling Statue (exit) — Wiki
2 A pile of pink flowers; Crumbling Statue Pink Viola ×10 Wiki, henesys.gg
3 Crumbling Statue; portals to Step 4 — Wiki
4 A pile of blue flowers; Crumbling Statue Blue Viola ×20 Wiki, henesys.gg
5 11 Super Slimes and 3 Super Jr. Neckis (Lv 200, 9,999 HP, 0 EXP); Crumbling Statue — Wiki
6 Crumbling Statue; portals to Step 7 — Wiki
7 A pile of white flowers; Crumbling Statue White Viola ×30 Wiki, henesys.gg

Order: John asks for 10 Pink, then 20 Blue, then 30 White Violas. You must turn in each batch before he gives you the next quest (wiki prerequisites, henesys.gg). Pink is at Step 2, Blue at Step 4, and White at the very end, past the monster step.

Exits: there's a Crumbling Statue on every step, so you can leave from anywhere (wiki). That cuts both ways. If you're on Step 6 with only part of the White Violas, decide before you click whether to keep climbing.

Rewards: 30 Screws for the first quest, class gloves for the second, and Pink-Flowered Earrings for the last. The gloves depend on your class: Work Gloves for Beginners, Dark Clench for Warriors, Dark Manute for Magicians, Dark Garner for Bowmen, and Steel Pow for Thieves. Work out which glove your class gets before you start, so you know whether it's an upgrade.

Use these jumping habits

These habits come from the source pages. Where a tip comes from a modern-MapleStory post, we say so.

  • Use an empty channel. Other players' effects get in the way (Peak, modern MapleStory).
  • Take off cosmetics and pets. Their effects can hide the platform edge (Peak, modern MapleStory).
  • Get a running start on long gaps. Peak (modern MapleStory) says the Forest spaces its platforms farther apart than other courses, so dropping off an edge doesn't land you on the platform below.
  • Hold through hits on ropes. Peak says holding jump plus up and a direction keeps you climbing while you take hits in Stage 2 (modern MapleStory). Test it in Classic before you rely on it.
  • Don't stack speed buffs. More Speed makes your jumps longer, not easier (NiaMeowDB numbers above).
  • Don't fight the Lv 200 mobs. They give 0 EXP (wiki).

Avoid the common mistakes

  • Taking John's quests at Lv 45. Planet-helper's keep list shows Lv 45, but the quest pages on the wiki, henesys.gg, and planet-helper's own full list say Lv 65. Check your quest window.
  • Leaving the Forest with an empty bag. Pick the herb at Step 5 before you click Louis.
  • Picking the wrong pile. Pink Anthurium and Red Ginseng look different. Read henesys.gg's descriptions before you click.
  • Skipping Sabitrama's second quest. That Star Rock is needed for Manji's Gladius (henesys.gg, our quests guide).
  • Expecting one Deep Forest trip. John gives the quests one at a time, and each needs the one before it (wiki), so you'll climb three times. Plan for that.

Compare the ways to finish

Approach Time cost What you get Best for
Do every jump quest when it opens Highest All mesos, Fame, the Star Rock, gloves, and earrings Completionists, Fame hunters
Sabitrama only Low (single herbs) DEF scroll, Star Rock Players headed for Manji's Gladius
Shumi only Medium 12,222 mesos, Return Scrolls, potions Lv 35 players short on mesos
Skip them all None Nothing, but you keep grinding Players focused on EXP; see our training guide

Plan alts and returning runs

  • Alts: the wiki lists every one of these quests as non-repeatable, so pick which character takes each reward. Henesys.gg says Shane's free re-entry starts after the first Sabitrama quest, so do that one first on any character that will need the Forest again.
  • Thief alts: Haste's +10 Jump makes the long gaps easier (NiaMeowDB).
  • Returning after Grand Launch: these pages are pre-launch and 0.9.0 data. Recheck levels and rewards after October 21, and see the MapleStory Classic hub for updates. Our leveling page covers the rest of your route.
  • Scroll rewards: see our scrolling guide before you use Sabitrama's Overall DEF scroll.

What may change at Grand Launch

This guide describes the Founder's Access build as it was on October 13, 2026. Re-check these against Nexon's Grand Launch notes on October 21: whether crafting still stops at craft level 8, whether Forgotten Hollow, Orbis and third jobs stay closed, KPQ channel limits, NPC shop stock, and any Founder's Access-only events or packages mentioned here. Nothing here assumes a closed area or feature will open.
