Housing went live with Grand Launch on October 21, 2026: once you're a citizen of Henesys or Kerning City, you can buy a home with mesos, decorate it, place a storage chest and a crafting station, and visit other players' homes. This MapleStory Classic housing guide covers how to unlock and buy a house, how the two homes differ, what furniture costs, how the decoration and functional slots work, and what's worth buying first.
Quick summary
- You need citizenship grade 2 (Visitor) in the town where you buy. Grade 2 needs level 17 and 1,500 contribution (NiaMeowDB). Then talk to Bianca in Henesys or Scarlett in Kerning City and pay in mesos (Nexon's Grand Launch release notes).
- One home per account. It's shared by every character on the account, and you can only own one at a time (Nexon).
- Two quests lead in. The Right to Own a Home (Arthur) and Looking for a House (Tommy, then Bianca) each pay 772 EXP, 388 mesos and 100 contribution, and the second adds three starter furniture pieces (NiaMeowDB, Henesys version).
- Furniture comes from the town furnishing shops and crafting. Oak (Henesys) and Weston (Kerning City) sell basic pieces for 500 mesos at Visitor grade, up to a 1,000,000-meso portrait at Citizen of Honor; every craft makes a home station (NiaMeowDB, henesys.gg).
- Slots are limited. Visitor allows 14 placed decorations (16 from Helpful Stranger), one storage slot for 10,000 mesos and a crafting-station slot for 50,000 mesos (NiaMeowDB).
How to get a house in MapleStory Classic
- Become a citizen. Citizenship opens at level 12, through Arthur in Henesys Town Hall or Roxy in Kerning City Civic Center (Nexon). See our citizenship guide for the grades.
- Reach grade 2, Visitor. NiaMeowDB lists it at level 17 and 1,500 contribution, earned through Community Board dailies and the weekly donation. Promotion isn't automatic; talk to your citizenship NPC when you qualify.
- Do the two housing quests. In Henesys, Arthur gives The Right to Own a Home and sends you to Tommy, the estate agent; Tommy's Looking for a House sends you east of the Town Hall to Bianca. Looking for a House rewards an Oak Window, a Corked Storage Jar and an Oak Barrel (NiaMeowDB). Kerning City's version runs through Roxy, Jack and Scarlett.
- Tour and buy. Bianca lets you tour the house before you pay. Her dialogue calls the price "specially low"; the exact figure is in her purchase window, and Nexon's notes only say you pay with mesos.
- Enter through the portal. After you buy, a portal appears at the entrance of the mushroom house behind Bianca, and the Mailbox inside opens Home Decoration (NiaMeowDB quest dialogue).
Choose your town carefully. NiaMeowDB says citizenship is account-wide, and moving it to the other town on any character moves the whole account and costs 100,000 mesos. Your home town is an account decision.

Sources: NiaMeowDB's housing and furniture pages and its citizenship shop lists. Our Henesys guide and Kerning City guide show where each NPC stands.
Example: a Bowman who will spend most evenings training around Henesys and crafting arrows picks Henesys: the Hunting Grounds, the Woodcrafting station in Henesys Market and the home are all a short walk apart. A Thief who runs KPQ every day picks Kerning City for the same reason.
Furniture prices and where furniture comes from
NiaMeowDB lists 61 home items: 52 furniture pieces in two town sets of 26, storage pieces, 6 crafting stations and a training dummy. The furnishing shops sell part of each set by citizenship grade:
| Grade needed | Henesys (Oak) | Kerning City (Weston) | Price (mesos) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visitor (2) | Windows, bookshelf, Oak Bench, garden plants, pottery | Windows, bookshelf, Wooden Bench, street signs, Fire Hydrant | 500 each |
| Visitor (2) | Worn Wooden Chest | Rusty Safe | 10,000 |
| Helpful Stranger (3) | Cherry Bench / Yellow Butterfly | Purple Barstool / Little Bug | 5,000 / 10,000 |
| Recognized Guest (4) | Straw Training Dummy | Straw Training Dummy | 300,000 |
| Town Resident (5) | Henesys Table | Kerning City Table | 100,000 |
| Distinguished Citizen (7) | Henesys Resident's Chair | Kerning City Resident's Chair | 500,000 |
| Guardian of the Village (9) | Henesys Flag | Kerning City Flag | 500,000 |
| Citizen of Honor (10) | Portrait of Helena | Portrait of the Dark Lord | 1,000,000 |
Prices are NiaMeowDB's launch lists. Other pieces, such as beds, lights and wardrobes, come from crafting: henesys.gg's Grand Launch notes say Smithing and Woodcrafting now make furniture and safes, such as the Rustic Bed and Reinforced Safe. The Kerning City Party Quest's Companion's Magic Box can also drop a Lakelis Statue decoration (Nexon's Grand Launch maintenance notes); see our KPQ guide.
Interactive pieces do something when you use them: lights turn on and off, wardrobes open, benches and the Rustic Bed let you sit, and the Cherry Bed lets you lie down (NiaMeowDB). The Resident's Chair restores 20 HP and 5 MP every 10 seconds while seated.
Decoration slots, storage and crafting stations
Open the Mailbox inside your home and choose Home Decoration. The window separates placed decorations from three functional slots (NiaMeowDB's housing page):
| Slot | Limit | How to expand |
|---|---|---|
| Decorations | 14 placed items at Visitor | 16 from Helpful Stranger (grade 3) |
| Storage | 1 | Unlock the slot for 10,000 mesos |
| Training | 1 (Straw Training Dummy) | Needs Recognized Guest (grade 4) |
| Crafting Station | 1 at first | The first slot costs 50,000 mesos |
Click the [+] beside a category to ask the Housing Registrar about expanding it.
Home storage is your account storage. NiaMeowDB says the storage piece connects to your existing account storage, with the usual fee reduced by your citizenship discount. It's a convenient access point, not extra space, so our Etc keep list still decides what's worth storing; our inventory guide covers storage itself.
Crafting stations need craft level 3. You can craft each home station at level 3 or higher in its discipline: Anvil (Smithing), Weaponcrafting Station, Sewing Machine (Tailoring), Woodworking Station, Leatherworking Station and Arcane Station (Arcforge) (NiaMeowDB). With one station slot, put down the one for the craft you level most. Our crafting guide helps you pick it.
Use the Return Scroll to My Home
The Return Scroll to My Home costs 300 mesos from Max's City General Store in Kerning City at Visitor grade (NiaMeowDB). Because the house is account-wide, any of your characters can use one to reach the same home. When you leave, you appear outside the house in its registered town, not where you read the scroll (NiaMeowDB). For other travel options, see our travel guide.
What to buy first
| Order | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The house and the free quest furniture | Unlocks everything else |
| 2 | Storage slot (10,000) and your town's chest or safe (10,000) | Account storage at home, the cheapest functional upgrade |
| 3 | Crafting-station slot (50,000) and the station for your main craft | Saves walks between town stations |
| 4 | Cheap 500-meso decorations to fill 14 slots | Looks for very little |
| 5 | Training dummy (300,000, grade 4) and the big-ticket pieces | Only once leveling gear is covered |
Our mesos guide covers income if the expensive pieces are the goal.
Visiting other players' homes
Use the Doorbell beside the Housing Registrar to visit a neighbor's home. You can only enter houses whose owners allow visitors (NiaMeowDB, Bianca's dialogue). Nexon's release notes confirm you can invite players and visit their homes.
Alts and returning players
- Alts: the house is shared by every character on the account (Nexon), and citizenship is account-wide too (NiaMeowDB), so alts don't buy their own.
- Returning players: nothing in the original game let a player own a room. Housing is new to Classic World.
- Players from Founder's Access: characters and progress carried over, so check your citizenship grade; you may already qualify.

If you would rather skip the grind that goes with this, MapleStory Classic powerleveling services are listed on FullBoosts. Read Nexon's Terms of Service before you buy any service from anyone, FullBoosts included — a marketplace listing isn't publisher permission.
What changed for housing at Grand Launch
Housing itself is the Grand Launch feature. Before October 21, the homes and furniture existed only in the client files. The v1.0.0 changes that shape it, from Nexon's release and maintenance notes and henesys.gg's update notes:
| Change | What it means |
|---|---|
| Housing opened in Henesys and Kerning City for citizens at Visitor grade or higher | Buy with mesos; one home per account |
| Every craft now makes a home station; Smithing and Woodcrafting make furniture and safes | Crafting is the second furniture source |
| Housing setup items grew from 23 to 226 in the client (henesys.gg) | Furniture, chests, stations, a training dummy and housing NPCs such as mailboxes and doorbells |
| KPQ's Companion's Magic Box can drop the Lakelis Statue | A decoration you can't buy |
| New accounts can't trade until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15 | You can't buy crafted furniture from players until then |
| Debt System (October 22) | Accounts in debt can't trade, which blocks buying furniture from players |
