Skyborne (the shen'dorei) are World of Warcraft: Forever's new playable race and the only one that can join either faction. Quick summary

How to unlock Skyborne in WoW Forever
The race isn't part of the base game. Blizzard sells it in three editions:

Lore and classes are from Blizzard; the reputation factions come from the beta client (The Forever Era). Unlike Pandaren in modern WoW, Skyborne don't start neutral and pick a side later. You're already aligned when you land on Zephras Isle.
Skyborne racials
Blizzard reworked the racials twice: on October 15 and again in a final pass on October 26–27, after the beta closed. These are the values Blizzard's notes give for launch:

Attuned and Charged persist through death and are removed when you enter a raid (Kaivax, October 27). Blizzard also added more Ley Line and convergence spawns across most Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor zones on October 15.
What this means in practice (our reading). Both faction racials now work in two modes: a short 15-second burst anywhere, and an hour-long buff if you trigger them at the right spot. Read Leyline cuts eat-and-drink downtime for Mages and caster Druids, but only after you find a Ley Line. Skysight is a travel boost; plan your route through a convergence and it lasts an hour of questing. Blizzard said its final pass "prioritized racial identity," so neither is a damage racial.
Elemental Insight is narrow. The 5% applies only to Elemental-type targets, so it matters most in zones full of elementals.

Counts are from Blizzard's race reveal. Both body types can add feathers to their hair, and Skyborne have their own voices and a race-only /dance. You can restyle later at a city barbershop for a fee.
Skyborne Druid forms (beta client, The Forever Era):
- Bear and Cat: Blue, Gray, Green or White.
- Travel Form: the shared Cheetah plus a blue Skyborne version.
- Aquatic: the shared Sea Lion.
- Moonkin: its own form.

Blizzard's Deep Dive says Forever moves the mount cost into riding training, so you get a mount when you learn riding. That likely makes a Galestrider the racial mount for each riding tier, but Blizzard hasn't confirmed how Galestriders are earned. Our mounts and riding guide covers riding costs and trainers.

Avoid these Skyborne mistakes
- Picking Skyborne for a Priest, Warlock or Paladin. Those classes aren't available to the race.
- Expecting a faction change to switch your class options. Mage and Shaman are each tied to one version.
- Assuming the Prideclaw works at level 1. It's a level 60 mount and needs riding training.
- Planning around beta racial numbers. Wind Blessed, Read Leyline and Skysight all changed on October 26. Check tooltips at launch.
- Ignoring Ley Lines and convergences. The hour-long Attuned and Charged buffs are most of the racials' value.
Tips for alts and returning players
- Classic veterans get a new race in an old world. Everything after level 12 is the familiar map, plus new zones such as Riverglades and Shen'dralas, which shares the Skyborne's Eldre'Thalas backstory.
- Alt planners can run one Skyborne on each faction, for example a High Order Mage and a Windshaper Shaman. Rulesets keep Horde and Alliance separate, so the two can't group (Blizzard Deep Dive). Each class you level to 25, 45 and 60 adds Legacy points; see our Legacy guide.
- Alliance Skyborne travelers land in Dalaran, which also holds the City of Dalaran dungeon later on.
