City of Dalaran is WoW Forever's new level 28–33 dungeon. It's set inside the Kirin Tor's rebuilt city in the Alterac Mountains, behind the violet dome Classic players could only look at. You need a Dalaran Sewer Key to get in. Inside are eight bosses, one of them a secret summon, enemies that mostly shrug off Arcane damage, and a cloth set that starts here. It sits in Classic's busiest dungeon band, alongside Gnomeregan, Razorfen Kraul and the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard. A group at 26–28 that wants an easier new dungeon first can run the Excavation Site, and the next new dungeon up the ladder is the Drowned City at 35–40. How to get the Dalaran Sewer Key

Treat Prison Break In as the first step for Horde. Some guides call it optional, but it gives 3,300 XP, the biggest reward in the chain. Blizzard's development notes add that Horde players "are no longer welcome in Dalaran... and will be attacked on sight." That "does not affect access to the City of Dalaran dungeon," but the key chain no longer gives open-world access to the city.
Getting there: Wowhead suggests swimming over from Silverpine Forest. Land at the Sepulcher, and from there it's a few minutes on foot. Method puts the sewer entrance outside the city on the northwest side.

Our math: Alliance quests add up to 16,460 XP. The Horde chain plus dungeon quests add up to 21,420. Source of Power needs 6 Cracked Sentry Cores, which drop by chance, so "a full party needs more than one run to finish it" (WoW Handbook).
How to summon Lyn the Ignored
- Clear Shadowfang Keep, or enter a cleared instance. Loot the Black Tome from the table beside Archmage Arugal (Method; WoW Handbook).
- Go to Ambermill in Silverpine Forest, enter the town hall, and use the tome at the Ambermill Leyline Focus to make the Tome of Dalaran.
- In City of Dalaran, kill Atrexis. Where the route turns right toward the surface, keep straight to the purple rune on the floor and use the tome there (WoW Handbook).
Prepare for Arcane immunity

The Violet Sorcerer's Vestments is a five-piece cloth set. With the full set, damaging spells have a chance to summon an Arcane elemental. The Robes and Mantle start here (WoW Handbook). Example: a Horde Priest at level 29 finishes the Tarren Mill chain while questing in Hillsbrad, then joins a group with The Grave Knight and Source of Power in the log. The group kills Atrexis for the first quest and loots Cracked Sentry Cores along the way. If the cores don't all drop, the Priest keeps Source of Power for a second run that also targets the Violet Sorcerer's Robes from Arcanic Enigma.

For alts and returning players
- Returning from Classic: Dalaran was a sealed dome. Now it's a dungeon with Kirin Tor reputation (WoW Handbook).
- Horde alts earn more XP here but have the longer key chain. Do it while you're questing in Hillsbrad.
- Grab the tome early: if you run Shadowfang Keep in your low twenties, loot the Black Tome then, and make the Tome of Dalaran on the way through Silverpine.
- Legacy: City of Dalaran counts toward Experienced Spelunker, along with Drowned City and Krol'dok Stronghold (The Forever Era). See our Legacy guide.
