WoW Forever Druid Guide: Talents, Builds, Rotation, Best Race
WoW Forever Druid guide: every class change, talent builds and rotations for Feral, Bear, Balance and Resto, leveling tips and best race after Oct 26.

In this guide 18 sections
WoW Forever keeps the Druid as the one class that can tank, heal and deal damage from the same character. It also fixes most of what made Classic Druids awkward. Potions, weapon enchants and racials work in form, Feral gets a real rotation with Primal Bite, Shifting Power and Berserk, and Swiftmend no longer eats your heal over time. This WoW Forever Druid guide covers every baseline change, the talent trees as of the final beta build, a build and rotation for each spec, leveling tips, professions and the best race after Blizzard's October 26 racial pass. Blizzard's Hunter and Druid class deep dive is the official summary, and Forever launches on November 4, 2026.
Quick summary
- Forms stop locking you out. Potions, weapon enchants, most doors and your racial abilities all work without leaving form. In Bear and Cat Form, your auto-attacks use your weapon's DPS (WoW Handbook).
- Feral gets a new engine. Mangle is now Primal Bite, Tiger's Fury is gone, and the new Shifting Power turns Mana into 40 Energy. Berserk at 31 points works in Cat or Bear Form (Kaivax; WoW Handbook).
- Bears gain Rage much faster. Critical strikes in Bear Form now give 100% more Rage, Bear threat rose to 50% from 30%, and Primal Bite's threat was "roughly doubled" (Kaivax, October 1 and 8).
- Restoration moves its big buttons. Swiftmend is the 16-point talent and leaves the heal over time running, and Wild Growth heals the whole party at 31 points (WoW Handbook).
- Leader of the Pack and Moonkin Aura are raid-wide since the October 15 build. Leader now gives only melee and ranged crit, and Moonkin only spell crit (Kaivax).
- Best races: Night Elf for Alliance Feral, Tauren for Horde Bears, Skyborne on either faction for casters. Tauren Endurance was cut to +5% Health on October 26 (Kaivax, development notes).

Druid spells by level

Best Druid spec in WoW Forever
| Spec | Role | Strength | Weakness | Our take |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feral (Cat) | Melee damage, leveling | Stealth, speed, cheap Mana use; same points tank in Bear Form | Needs to stand behind for Shred | Best leveling spec |
| Feral (Bear) | Tank | Armor, Rage on crits, Berserk hits 3 targets | Fewest tank cooldowns | Strong dungeon tank |
| Balance | Ranged damage | Eclipse speeds Starfire; raid spell crit aura | Mana-hungry while leveling | Fine for groups, slower solo |
| Restoration | Healer | Swiftmend keeps the heal over time; Wild Growth | Little damage while leveling | Our pick for group healing |
WoW Handbook recommends Feral for leveling, with Bear Form as your backup. It calls that "the smoothest way to level," adding that "the same points become a full Feral build at 60." Our tier list ranks Feral Druid A for leveling and Restoration A for healing. Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40 (Blizzard), so a Druid can keep a Feral questing build and a Restoration or Bear build side by side. Our dual spec and respec guide covers what that costs.

Follow the Feral leveling order
WoW Handbook's leveling build (0/51/0), through level 30:
| Levels | Talent |
|---|---|
| 10–14 | Ferocity 5/5 |
| 15–16 | Feral Swiftness 2/2 |
| 17–19 | Thick Hide 3/3 |
| 20–21 | Sharpened Claws 2/2 |
| 22–23 | Savage Fury 2/2 |
| 24 | Feral Charge 1/1 |
| 25 | Primal Bite 1/1 |
| 26–28 | Predatory Strikes 3/3 |
| 29–30 | Blood Frenzy 2/2 |
From 31 it takes Leader of the Pack, Heart of the Wild 5/5, Shredding Attacks, Shifting Power and Improved Shifting Power, Natural Instinct, Rend and Tear, then Berserk at 50 (WoW Handbook). Its level 60 Cat build is 0/41/10, adding Furor and Naturalist from Restoration. Its tank build is 0/46/5, with Natural Reaction and Feral Instinct and five points of Furor for 10 Rage on every Bear shift.
Use Shifting Power well
Shifting Power replaced Tiger's Fury and the old powershifting habit. Our math: with Improved Shifting Power, the cooldown is 8 seconds, so it can add up to 300 Energy a minute. Classic's base Energy regeneration is 10 per second, or 600 a minute, so that's up to 50% more Energy. Each use costs 55% of base Mana, the same as Cat Form, so in practice you'll fire it when Omen of Clarity or a long fight lets your Mana carry it. Kaivax notes it can't be used at full Energy (October 8), and Furor now keeps your Cat Energy through a Bear shift (October 15).
Know the Bear Rage changes
| Build | Change | Source |
|---|---|---|
| October 1 | Bear crits give 75% more Rage; Swipe scales at 3% of attack power; Primal Bite threat roughly doubled | Kaivax |
| October 8 | Crit Rage raised to 100% more; Rage from damage taken fixed; Bear threat bonus 50% (was 30%); Demoralizing Roar now makes threat | Kaivax |
| October 15 | Faerie Fire makes threat in Bear Form | Kaivax |
Kaivax explains the Rage fix: Blizzard had balanced Rage "around Warriors having 50% Armor," and rebalanced it for "the 20% to 40% range." That helps leveling Bears as much as Warriors. See our Warrior guide for the shared Rage rules.
Balance Druid talents and builds
| Talent | Row | Max rank effect (WoW Handbook) | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Improved Wrath | 1 | Wrath 0.5 seconds faster and 50% cheaper | Changed |
| Genesis | 1 | +5% periodic damage and healing | New |
| Moonglow | 2 | Damage spells cost 25% less | Changed |
| Nature's Majesty | 2 | +4% spell and melee crit | New |
| Nature's Reach | 2 | +20% range, +4% hit | Changed |
| Nature's Splendor | 3 | Longer Moonfire, Rejuvenation, Regrowth and Insect Swarm | New |
| Insect Swarm | 4 (16 points) | Moved in from Restoration | Changed |
| Vengeance | 4 | +100% crit bonus on Arcane and Nature spells | Changed |
| Nature's Grace | 5 | 10% faster casts and global cooldown for 3 seconds after a crit | Changed |
| Eclipse | 5 | Each Wrath cuts 0.5 seconds off your next 2 Starfires; up to 4 charges | New |
| Moonfury | 6 | +10% Arcane and Nature damage | Changed |
| Moonkin Form | 7 (31 points) | Raid-wide +3% spell crit; 360% item armor | Changed, October 15 |
WoW Handbook's beta start for levels 10–20 is Improved Wrath 5/5, Moonglow 3/3, Nature's Reach 2/2 and Improved Moonfire 1/2. It explains why: Moonglow is "the difference between two pulls and four." Its level 60 build is 41/0/10, with Nature's Focus and Naturalist from Restoration.
Restoration Druid talents and builds
| Talent | Row | Max rank effect (WoW Handbook) | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nature's Focus | 1 | 70% chance to avoid pushback | Changed |
| Furor | 1 | 10 Rage on Bear shift; keeps your Cat Energy | Changed |
| Naturalist | 2 | Healing Touch 0.5 seconds faster; +5% all damage | New |
| Reflection | 3 | 50% Mana regeneration while casting | Changed |
| Gift of Nature | 3 | +10% healing | Changed |
| Gift of the Earthmother | 3 | 0.5 seconds off the global cooldown of Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and Wild Growth | New |
| Swiftmend | 4 (16 points) | Heals for the full periodic amount without consuming it | Changed |
| Living Spirit | 5 | +15% Spirit | New |
| Improved Regrowth | 6 | +50% Regrowth crit chance | Same |
| Wild Growth | 7 (31 points) | Front-loaded party heal over 7 seconds | New |
WoW Handbook's level 60 healer build is 11/0/40. It takes Genesis, Nature's Majesty, Moonglow and Nature's Splendor from Balance for longer heals over time. Its early start (0/0/11) is Nature's Focus 5/5, Naturalist 5/5 and Gift of the Earthmother. Our dungeons guide lists where those heals get tested first.
Druid rotation for each spec
These priorities are built from the talent and spell text above. They are starting points, not simulated rotations, because nobody has level 60 logs yet.
Feral (Cat) leveling:
- Open from Prowl with Shred (or Rake if you can't get behind the target).
- Keep Faerie Fire up on longer fights; it costs nothing in form.
- Build combo points with Claw, or Shred when you're behind.
- Spend on Rip only if the target will live long enough for the bleed; otherwise spend on Ferocious Bite.
- Use Shifting Power when you're low on Energy and have Mana to spare, and save Omen of Clarity procs for Shred.
Feral (Bear) tanking:
- Charge in with Feral Charge, then Primal Bite on cooldown for its high threat.
- Stack Lacerate to five from level 42, and Swipe on packs of three or more.
- Keep Demoralizing Roar and Faerie Fire up, since both now make threat.
- Dump spare Rage into Maul, and save Berserk for big pulls, when Primal Bite hits three targets.
Balance:
- Apply Moonfire and Insect Swarm.
- Cast Wrath to build Eclipse charges: each Wrath cuts 0.5 seconds off your next two Starfires.
- Spend the charges on faster Starfires, and let Nature's Grace crits speed up the next cast.
Restoration:
- Keep Rejuvenation on the tank, then Swiftmend it; Swiftmend no longer removes the heal over time.
- Use Wild Growth when several party members take damage at once.
- Use Regrowth for crit-heavy single-target healing (Improved Regrowth), and Healing Touch only when you have time for the long cast.
Druid leveling tips
- Pull one at a time in Cat Form, and switch to Bear Form when a second enemy joins. Feral Swiftness "stands in for a mount before level 30" (WoW Handbook).
- Keep Mark of the Wild and Thorns on yourself. Thorns now scales with 6% of your spell power (Kaivax, October 8).
- Heal between pulls in caster form with Rejuvenation or Regrowth instead of eating, and use Revive (level 12) on dead party members out of combat.
- Do your form quests early. Method's Forever leveling guide lists class quests for Bear Form at 10, Cure Poison at 14, Aquatic Form at 16 and Cat Form at 20.
- Upgrade your weapon. Bear and Cat auto-attacks now use your weapon's DPS, so a new staff or mace raises your damage in form.
Our WoW Forever leveling guide covers routes, rested XP and dungeon timing for every class. Bears get their first real tests in the Hall of Thanes and the Ruins of Lordaeron.

Druid leveling methods compared
| Method | Speed | Downtime | Risk | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feral solo questing (Cat with Bear backup) | Fast | Low; no drinking in Cat Form | Low | Most players |
| Balance solo questing | Medium | High Mana use before Moonglow | Medium | Players who like ranged |
| Restoration in dungeon groups | Depends on group | Low | Low | Players who want group invites |
| Bear tanking dungeons | Fast in a steady group | Low | Medium | Groups with a healer |
This table is our assessment based on WoW Handbook's leveling advice and its build notes. Feral Swiftness "stands in for a mount before level 30," and Travel Form arrives at 30. Our PvP guide covers why Druids are good at objectives.
Best race for Druid in WoW Forever
Blizzard's final racial pass on October 26–27 changed the Tauren and Skyborne values (Kaivax). Night Elf racials were last changed on October 16.
| Race | Faction | Key racials after the October 26 pass (Blizzard) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Night Elf | Alliance | Shadowmeld; Quickness (its movement speed now stacks with other bonuses); Elune's Light | Feral (Shadowmeld before openers, Quickness dodge) |
| Tauren | Horde | War Stomp (90-second cooldown); Cultivation; Endurance (now only +5% Health); Plainsrunning (+2% speed per stack, up to 60%, not on mounts) | Bear tank (War Stomp area stun, extra Health) |
| Skyborne | Both | Wind-Blessed (+2% Haste); Walk on Air; Read Leyline (Alliance: +50% Health and Mana regeneration for 15 seconds, plus Attuned for 1 hour at a Ley Line); Skysight (Horde: +15% movement speed for 15 seconds, plus Charged for 1 hour at an elemental convergence) | Balance and Restoration (Haste and regeneration) |
Kaivax wrote that Blizzard "prioritized racial identity," so some races are slightly stronger for some roles. Racial abilities work in form, including War Stomp and Walk on Air (Blizzard). Our Skyborne guide covers the new race, including Druid form colors, and the race and class combos guide covers every racial.
Best professions for Druid
- Skinning and Leatherworking: Druids wear leather, and the Camp Tent gives rested XP at a campsite.
- Herbalism and Alchemy: potions now work in form, and Herbalism's camp object adds Intellect.
- First Aid and Cooking: cheap secondary professions that cut downtime for any spec.
Profession pairs for every class are in our professions guide, and the camp objects are in our camping guide.
Gear your Druid
Druids wear leather and use staves, maces, daggers and fist weapons (WoW Handbook). Because Feral auto-attacks now use weapon DPS, a weapon upgrade and its enchant matter for Cat and Bear, which wasn't true in Classic. WoW Handbook also lists new Idols and Druid set bonuses. Our raids guide covers where sets drop.
Advice for alts and returning players
- Classic Druid veterans: stop planning around powershifting. Tiger's Fury is gone, and Shifting Power is the replacement (Kaivax).
- Returning Bears: Lacerate and Primal Bite give you real threat tools, and Faerie Fire now makes threat in form (WoW Handbook; Kaivax).
- Healers from Classic: Swiftmend no longer eats the Rejuvenation, so cast it freely on cooldown.
- Alts: the Feral leveling points carry into both the Cat and Bear builds at 60, so one talent plan covers both roles. Legacy's Talented perk can start talent points earlier; see our Legacy guide.
The WoW Forever hub collects the rest of our class coverage.
