THE GUIDE

Quick summary

  • Zombie Mushmom is a level 55 undead boss with 66,640 HP and 668 EXP at launch. Pre-launch guides list it at level 50 with 53,640 HP, which are closed-test numbers (NiaMeowDB).
  • It lives in The Grave of Mushmom, behind a hidden portal at the top of Ant Tunnel Park. The VIP Cab from Lith Harbor or Ellinia goes straight to Ant Tunnel Park, but nothing takes you back (Metaroad, MapleClassic Wiki).
  • It's weak to Holy, which does 25% extra damage, and a Cleric's Heal damages it (NiaMeowDB, Metaroad, henesys.gg).
  • The game timer is 1 hour. Live respawns can run to about 90 minutes, which is a community estimate (NiaMeowDB, Metaroad).
  • Touch damage runs 766–1,045, so bring at least 1,100 HP before you walk in.

Checked against the Founder's Access build on October 13, 2026. Grand Launch is October 21, 2026; see the end of the guide for what may change.

Get to The Grave of Mushmom

You have two ways in. Both end at Ant Tunnel Park.

Route Path Cost Source
Walk Sleepywood → Ant Tunnel I–IV → Dark Cave → Dangerous Steam → Deep Ant Tunnel I and II → Ant Tunnel Park Free Metaroad
VIP Cab Lith Harbor or Ellinia → Ant Tunnel Park 10,000 mesos MapleClassic Wiki

From Ant Tunnel Park, take the hidden portal at the top of the map into The Grave of Mushmom (Metaroad).

Metaroad warns that the VIP Cab is one-way: "nothing takes you back, so bring a Return Scroll." Our travel guide has cab fares and return scroll options.

What's in the room, per the wiki's map page:

Monster Level HP EXP Spawns
Zombie Mushroom 24 436 45 13
Jr. Boogie 2 35 1,395 69 2
Zombie Mushmom 55 66,640 668 1

NiaMeowDB lists the map at a 1.0x mob rate, with Zombie Mushmom as 1 of 16 spawns. Metaroad says the Zombie Mushrooms pay "almost ten times more" EXP per HP than the boss does. At level 24, they're no threat to a level 50 character.

Weakness Holy (+25% damage) NiaMeowDB, Metaroad
Damage reduction Weapon 9%, magic 17% henesys.gg
HP recovery +666 HP per tick NiaMeowDB

What these mean in the fight:

  • Weapons lose less than magic here. henesys.gg lists 9% reduction for weapons and 17% for magic. That's the reverse of Mano.
  • It regenerates 666 HP per tick, nearly double Mushmom's 344. NiaMeowDB doesn't give the interval. Low damage won't get you through.
  • It jumps between floors and moves fast, like Mushmom (NiaMeowDB).
  • HP per EXP is 99.76, ranked #174 of 182 by NiaMeowDB. Come for the drops.

Dodge the lunge

NiaMeowDB lists the same attack set as Mushmom, with bigger numbers:

Attack Damage Timing
Touch 766–1,045 Contact with its 119 × 99 px touch zone
Lunge (Attack 1) 125% of P.DMG (about 871 base, by our arithmetic from 697) 800 ms telegraph, 1.85 sec cycle, 3 sec recovery

Metaroad lists "about 960 touch, 1,060 magic" from closed-test stats. NiaMeowDB lists a Magic ATK of 766 but no magic attack. Either way, a character under about 1,100 HP can die to one hit.

Use Holy and Heal

Zombie Mushmom is undead, so it's a Cleric fight:

  • Holy attacks do 25% extra damage (NiaMeowDB: "Holy weak: 25% extra dmg"; Metaroad: "a quarter harder").
  • Heal damages it (henesys.gg, Metaroad). A Cleric can heal the party and hurt the boss with the same cast.
  • Holy Arrow is the Cleric's single-target Holy spell. At launch it hits 1 target at Basic Attack 160 (NiaMeowDB). Our Cleric guide has the build.
  • Poison won't help. The wiki's description says it's "immune to poison," so Fire/Poison Wizards should lead with Fire instead.

Check your accuracy

Your level NiaMeowDB (launch, Lv 55 boss) Metaroad (COT2, Lv 50 boss)
55 120 —
50 144 98
45 167 117
40 — 136

Plan for NiaMeowDB's numbers. Metaroad's are from the level 50 closed-test version with 30 avoid, and launch raised it to 37. Fighting 5 levels under a boss costs "about 11%" of your damage and 10 under costs "a third" (Metaroad). A level 50 character is now 5 under. Our accuracy guide has the formula.

Count your hits

Plain arithmetic on 66,640 HP, rounded up. It doesn't model misses, the 666 HP regen, or the Holy bonus:

Damage per hit (after reduction) Hits to kill
500 134
800 84
1,200 56
2,000 34
3,000 23

Take your damage on a regular monster near level 55. Subtract 9% for weapons or 17% for magic (henesys.gg), and add 25% if it's Holy. Then read the row. Multiply by your MP cost per attack and compare that with your MP and potions.

Pick a plan by class

Use these plans as a reading of the stats above, not as a proven kill order:

Class Approach Why
Cleric Heal and Holy Arrow Both hit the Holy weakness, and Heal also keeps the party alive.
Fire/Poison Wizard Fire Arrow, not Poison Breath The wiki says it's immune to poison. Magic takes 17% reduction.
Ice/Lightning Wizard Single-target damage No listed weakness to exploit. Magic takes 17% reduction.
Warrior Tank with HP Weapons take only 9% reduction. Touch up to 1,045, so stack HP.
Assassin Range it with stars Ilbi farming (see drops). Stay out of the touch zone.
Bandit, Bowman Burst between lunges Use the 3-second lunge recovery. It jumps floors, so reposition often.
Party A Cleric plus 2–3 damage dealers The Cleric brings both the Holy damage and the Heal sustain (henesys.gg, Metaroad).

Time the respawn

Source Respawn
NiaMeowDB 1 hour base timer; live window 1 to 1.5 hours ("unconfirmed")
Metaroad Boss Timer Game timer 1 hour; 60–90 minute window (community estimate)
MapleClassic Wiki infobox 60 minutes
MapleClassic Wiki map page 1,800 seconds (30 minutes)
henesys.gg 1 hour

Plan around 1 hour. The wiki's two pages disagree with each other. Metaroad says the 1-hour bosses used 30-minute timers in the first closed test, which likely explains the 1,800 seconds.

Getting here takes a long walk or a 10,000-meso cab ride, so rotate channels once you arrive. Check The Grave of Mushmom on each channel and note your kill times. Train on the Zombie Mushrooms between spawns. The Mano and Mushmom guides use the same rotation.

Know the drops

Drop Source Notes
Earring Crit. Damage Scroll: Intermediate (60%) and Greater (10%) Metaroad, wiki prose Metaroad says this boss has "the longest drop list of any boss at launch."
Scroll Crafting Catalyst Metaroad ("Scroll Crafting Stimulator" on the wiki) Can upgrade a crafted scroll to Intermediate, Greater or Chaos
One-Handed and Two-Handed Weapon Crafting Catalysts Metaroad Can reroll a crafted weapon's bonus stats
Ilbi Throwing Stars Metaroad, wiki prose +27 W.ATK stars. Metaroad says only Mushmom and Zombie Mushmom drop them at launch.

No source publishes drop rates, and henesys.gg lists no drops yet. Metaroad's advice is direct: "If you craft, this is the boss to farm." Our crafting guide covers catalysts.

NiaMeowDB's separate "MSEA reference" list has 17 items, including Hwabi Throwing Stars, Black Gaia Cape and a dozen Intermediate attack scrolls. It labels the list historical, from old MapleSEA tables. Treat Hwabi as unconfirmed for Classic World until players report it.

See what changed at launch

NiaMeowDB's COT2-to-launch table shows a bigger change than for Mano or Mushmom, which both lost HP at launch:

Stat COT2 Launch Change
Level 50 55 +5
HP 53,640 66,640 +13,000
P.DMG / M.DMG 642 / 706 697 / 766 +55 / +60
Accuracy 141 146 +5
Avoidability 30 37 +7
Knockback threshold 3,750 4,250 +500
EXP 568 668 +100
HP recovery 536 666 +130

If you tested it in COT2 at level 45, expect a much longer fight now.

Plan alts and returning players

  • Returning from the closed tests? It's level 55 with 13,000 more HP and 100 more EXP than in COT2 (NiaMeowDB). The first closed test used a 30-minute timer (Metaroad).
  • Returning from old MapleStory? Don't assume Hwabi or old MapleSEA drops carry over. NiaMeowDB keeps that list separate.
  • Bringing a Cleric alt? Its Heal damages the boss, so a Cleric alt is useful here. Check its accuracy first.
  • Crafting on an alt? Metaroad points crafters here for the catalysts.
  • Short on time? Our bosses guide, MapleStory Classic hub and powerleveling page cover the next steps.

What may change at Grand Launch

This guide describes the Founder's Access build as it was on October 13, 2026. Re-check these against Nexon's Grand Launch notes on October 21: whether crafting still stops at craft level 8, whether Forgotten Hollow, Orbis and third jobs stay closed, KPQ channel limits, NPC shop stock, and any Founder's Access-only events or packages mentioned here. Nothing here assumes a closed area or feature will open.
