WoW Forever Leveling Guide: Fast 1–60, Rested XP, Zone Routes
WoW Forever leveling guide: fast 1–60 tips, every XP change, rested XP and Well Rested, Legacy picks, dungeons by level, Alliance and Horde zone routes.

In this guide 13 sections
WoW: Forever levels like Classic: 1 to 60 with no level scaling and no flying (Blizzard). Several things change your speed, though. Dungeon XP changed twice in October. Legacy perks add rest and cheaper flights. Camps give rested XP in the field, and many cooked foods now carry an XP buff. This WoW Forever leveling guide puts the fastest habits, the XP changes Blizzard made in the beta, the rested math, Legacy picks, dungeon brackets and zone routes for both factions in one place, ready for the November 4, 2026 launch.
Quick summary
- Dungeons got better on October 8: dungeon kill XP rose by about 20%, and a party bug that cut XP near higher-level players was fixed. Dungeon quests lost half their extra XP on October 1 (Kaivax).
- Rested XP still doubles kill XP. Well Rested (Legacy, 5 ranks) makes it build 20% faster and raises the cap by 20% (The Forever Era, beta client text).
- A Camp Tent tops rested XP up to 5% of a level once an hour, and 107 cooked foods give +5% kill XP (our camping guide; WoW Forever Builds, datamined).
- Frequent Flier halves flight costs and speeds flights by 20%. The beta client has 65 flight masters on the leveling route, plus new boats (The Forever Era).
- There's no level scaling, so every zone and dungeon stays at its level (Blizzard).
How to level fast in WoW Forever
These habits apply to every class. Blizzard's New Player's Starter Guide (October 28) covers the basics behind them: binding your hearthstone at an inn, learning flight paths, and two primary professions plus Cooking, Fishing and First Aid.
- Log out in an inn or a capital. Rest builds four times faster there than in the open world (see the rested table below).
- Pick up every flight path as you pass, and bind your hearthstone to the inn nearest your next batch of quests.
- Quest in batches. Take every quest in a hub, finish the ones in the same area together, and turn them in on one trip.
- Take a gathering profession. Herbalism, Mining or Skinning pays for training and riding, and each has a camp object (our camping guide).
- Run your bracket's dungeons with their quests. Kill XP rose about 20% on October 8, so a full group at the right level now beats solo grinding.
- Plan gold for level 40. Riding training (our mounts and riding guide) and dual spec both unlock there.
- Pick a class that suits solo play. Our class tier list ranks Beast Mastery Hunter, Affliction Warlock and Frost Mage highest for leveling; see the Hunter and Druid guides for leveling builds.
WoW Forever XP changes from the beta
| Date | Change | Source |
|---|---|---|
| October 1 | Dungeon quests reward 50% less extra XP beyond normal quest values; some quest rewards recalibrated | Kaivax |
| October 8 | XP from killing creatures in dungeons up about 20% | Kaivax |
| October 8 | Party XP for lower-level kills now uses each member's own level, as in Classic Era, not the highest member's | Kaivax |
| October 8 | No one gets XP if a party member is "vastly higher level" than the enemy | Kaivax |
| Beta client | Well Fed XP Boost: +5% kill XP on 107 cooked foods | WoW Forever Builds (datamined) |
Blizzard says the two October 8 changes together "will dramatically increase experience earned in dungeons for most players" (Kaivax, development notes). The October 1 cut means dungeon quests now give normal quest XP plus half the old bonus.
How rested XP works in WoW Forever
| Rule | Classic Era | WoW Forever with Well Rested 5/5 | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Effect | Double XP from kills until the pool runs out | Same | Wowpedia; Wowhead |
| Accrual in an inn or capital | 5% of a level every 8 hours | 6% every 8 hours (20% faster) | Wowpedia; The Forever Era; our math |
| Accrual outside a rest area | 5% every 32 hours | 6% every 32 hours | Wowpedia; our math |
| Cap | 150% of a level | 180% of a level (cap +20%) | Wowpedia; our math |
| Time to fill the cap in an inn | 10 days | 10 days | Our math |
| Quest XP | Doesn't use rest | Same | Wowhead |
Our math: Well Rested doesn't fill the cap faster in days. It raises both the rate and the cap by 20%, so a full pool is worth 1.8 levels of bonus kill XP instead of 1.5. That's 0.3 levels more per full pool. A player logging out in an inn overnight (8 hours) banks 6% of a level instead of 5%.
Camp Tent: a Leatherworking camp object that raises everyone nearby to 5% of a level of rested XP, then can't trigger for that player again for an hour (our camping guide, beta client). How it interacts with Well Rested hasn't been tested.
Best Legacy perks for leveling
| Perk | Tree | Ranks | Effect at max rank (beta client) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Well Rested | Adventure | 5 | Rest builds 20% faster; cap +20% |
| Talented | Adventure | 5 | Talent points from level 5 instead of 10; still 51 total |
| Thrill of Adventure | Adventure | 5 | 5% max Health and Mana over 10 seconds on each killing blow outside instances |
| Frequent Flier | Adventure | 1 | 50% off flight paths; flights 20% faster |
| Field Guide | Adventure | 3 | Camp feature cooldown −25% |
| Field Medicine | Adventure | 2 | Recently Bandaged 10 seconds shorter outside instances |
| Gourmand | Resourcefulness | 3 | Food buffs last twice as long |
| Permanence | Resourcefulness | 2 | Long party buffs and camp rest benefits last twice as long |
| Reagent Economy | Resourcefulness | 1 | No vendor reagents for class abilities |
All perk text is from The Forever Era's Legacy data (beta client), and Blizzard's Legacy article confirms what each perk does. You get 16 Legacy points per character, and these perks total 27 ranks, so you can't take them all. Frequent Flier also needs 10 points spent in Adventure first. Our Legacy guide has a full 16-point leveling build with the tree gates.
Our read: Thrill of Adventure cuts downtime between pulls on every class, and Gourmand doubles how long the food XP buff lasts, if the datamined buff holds.
Leveling dungeons by level

| 17–30 | Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep |
| 24–33 | Blackfathom Deeps, The Stockade (Alliance), Excavation Site (new), City of Dalaran (new) |
| 29–46 | Gnomeregan, Razorfen Kraul, Scarlet Monastery, The Drowned City (new), Razorfen Downs |

Every dungeon stays at its level. Nine of them are new in Forever. Our new dungeons guide covers them. A dual spec at 40 lets hybrids quest as damage and still tank or heal these (our dual spec guide).
WoW Forever leveling route: zones by level
| Levels | Alliance | Horde |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | Elwynn Forest, Dun Morogh, Teldrassil (Zephras Isle) | Durotar, Tirisfal Glades, Mulgore (Zephras Isle) |
| 11–15 | Westfall, Loch Modan, Darkshore | The Barrens, Silverpine Forest |
| 16–20 | Redridge Mountains, Darkshore, Westfall | The Barrens, Stonetalon Mountains, Silverpine Forest |
| 21–30 | Duskwood, Wetlands, Ashenvale, Hillsbrad Foothills | Stonetalon Mountains, Ashenvale, Hillsbrad Foothills, Thousand Needles |
| 31–35 | Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi Highlands, Desolace | Stranglethorn Vale, Thousand Needles, Desolace |
| 36–45 | Riverglades (new), Stranglethorn Vale, Dustwallow Marsh, Tanaris, Feralas | Riverglades (new), Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi Highlands, Tanaris, Feralas |
| 46–50 | Tanaris, Feralas, The Hinterlands | Tanaris, Feralas, The Hinterlands |
| 51–55 | Un'Goro Crater, Felwood, Burning Steppes | Un'Goro Crater, Felwood, Azshara |
| 56–60 | Western and Eastern Plaguelands, Winterspring, Silithus (Mount Hyjal) | Same |
Main zones per bracket are The Forever Era's, with new zones in parentheses where they're alternatives. Our new zones guide and Riverglades guide cover the new areas. Skyborne start on Zephras Isle (1–12), Shen'dralas opens its quests at 35, and Mount Hyjal is the level 60 zone at the end of the road.
Example: an Alliance player hits 20 in Redridge, runs the Deadmines once with its quests, then moves to Duskwood and the Wetlands. At 27 they join a group for the Excavation Site with all nine Alliance quests, and at 30 they carry the leftover quest XP into City of Dalaran. By 36 they head for the Riverglades instead of a third trip through Stranglethorn, which keeps the quest hubs fresh.

Questing vs dungeons vs grinding
| Method | Best for | Speed after October 8 | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Questing | Solo players | Steady; quest XP doesn't use rest | Travel time |
| Dungeon runs | Groups of five at bracket level | Kill XP +20% and party fix (Kaivax) | Dungeon quests pay less since October 1 |
| Grinding with rest | Players with a full rested pool | Double kill XP until the pool drains | Slow once rest runs out |
| Camp-based questing | Groups with crafters | Camp Tent rest each hour; food XP buff | Needs camp objects (our camping guide) |
| Twinked alt with Talented | Alts | Talents from 5 | Spends Legacy points |
Class choice also matters. Our class tier list ranks leveling speed.
Handle alts and returning players
- Returning Classic players: party XP works as in Classic Era again since October 8, so leveling with a friend of a different level is no longer penalized (Kaivax).
- Alts: Legacy points are shared across the account, so later characters can start with a leveling build ready (our Legacy guide).
- Hardcore players: dungeons are faster now, but a wipe is permanent. Weigh the XP against the risk; our Hardcore guide covers the ruleset.
- Launch night: check the release time and ruleset rules in our launch guide before you log in.
The WoW Forever hub lists our zone, dungeon and class guides for the rest of the climb.
