MapleStory Classic Tops and Bottoms: Shop Sets by Job and Scrolls

Tops and bottoms are the two body slots every job fills before its first overall, and in MapleStory Classic World the job armor sellers stock a set at every early bracket. This MapleStory Classic tops and bottoms guide lists each job's shop sets from level 10 to 25 with stats and prices, the scrolls that fit, where to get them, and when an overall is the better buy. Shop stock and prices are NiaMeowDB's live NPC shop inventories; item rules come from maplestory.quest's client data.

Quick summary

• Each job's armor seller stocks a top and bottom at levels 10, 15, 20 and 25, except that magicians get robes instead of a level 25 set and male bowmen have no level 15 bottom. Harry is in Perion, Serabi in Ellinia, Sam in the Henesys Weapon Store and Don Hwang in Kerning City (NiaMeowDB).
• A level 25 set costs 13,500 mesos (a 7,500 top and a 6,000 bottom) for warriors, bowmen and thieves. Magicians use the 13,500-meso Doros or Doroness robe (NiaMeowDB).
• Tops and bottoms have 7 slots each and take DEF, HP and MP scrolls, never main-stat scrolls (maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB).
• DEF Lessers cost 20,000 mesos from Flint, Ben or Tulcus; HP and MP Lessers are crafted at Arcforge 3 (tops) and 4 (bottoms) for a 10,000-meso fee (NiaMeowDB).
• No shop sells a top or bottom above level 26. From 30 up, it's drops or the Free Market.

Level 25 warrior pieces need 40 STR and 15 DEX (maplestory.quest). The level 15 Corporal set is male-only; Harry's female level 15 option is the Steel Fitted Mail overall at 5,400 mesos, and he also sells Kendo Robes at 10,800 (see our overalls guide). With Iron Body buffed at Grand Launch to +20% to +40% Weapon Def, the armor's flat DEF counts for more on a Fighter or Page.

Level 25 thief pieces need 15 DEX and 40 LUK. For a LUK build, take the Dark Sneak or Black Sneak Pants (maplestory.quest).

Our view: a set suits a warrior who wants HP or a thief or bowman who has no overall. A magician or warrior chasing damage should scroll an overall.

Our cost math: 14 DEF Lessers cost 280,000 mesos for +28 weapon DEF. No NPC sells HP or MP Lessers, but an Arcforger makes them: 14 HP Lessers cost 140,000 mesos in fees plus 14 Parchments, 140 Fragments of Magic and 42 Topaz, for +140 HP. Example: a level 25 Hunter in the Bennis set who keeps dying to Wild Boars should put HP Lessers on both pieces before DEF ones: +10 HP per slot is a bigger share of a Bowman's small HP pool than +2 weapon DEF.

maplestory.quest marks most of these as drops from an older version of the game, with rates that differ, so treat the sources as likely rather than confirmed. None of them is in the four armor sellers' live stock (NiaMeowDB). The level 50 pieces need a level 50+ character, and Orbis and El Nath, where many of the old drops lived, are still closed.

Alts and returning players

• Alts: buying sets is cheap. The level 10, 15, 20 and 25 sets cost 33,300 mesos in total for a male warrior or a thief (our math from NiaMeowDB prices).
• Alts: watch the gender lock if you pass armor to an alt (maplestory.quest).
• Returning players: the old 30% and 70% scrolls aren't in Classic World. Lessers are 100% (NiaMeowDB's scroll pages, via our scrolling guide). Our AP guide covers stat requirements.
• New accounts: you can't trade until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15, so buy early sets from NPCs rather than counting on the Free Market (Nexon).

What changed for tops and bottoms at Grand Launch

Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) didn't change any armor seller's stock or price listed above. The changes that touch body armor, per Nexon's Grand Launch maintenance notes and release notes:

• Equipment bonus stats now show in the Character Stats window, so you can see what a set's DEF and HP add without doing the sums.
• Iron Body (Warrior) now gives +20% to +40% Weapon Def, up from +5% to +25%, which scales the weapon DEF on your top and bottom.
• Potions drop more often from level 10–30 monsters, which eases the potion bill while you wear shop armor.
• New accounts are trade-locked until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15, and the Debt System (from October 22) stops trading on accounts caught in real-money trading.

The Halloween Mystery Fashion Crate (October 28 to November 4) sells outfit tops and bottoms in the Cash Shop; they're cosmetic covers and don't replace the stats of the armor here (Nexon's Halloween Cash Shop notice). The MapleStory Classic hub gathers every guide and service for the game.

FAQ

Can I put STR scrolls on a top? No. Tops and bottoms take only DEF, HP and MP scrolls (maplestory.quest).

What's the best shop set at level 25? Master Sergeant or Shark for warriors, Bennis for bowmen and Sneak for thieves. Each costs 13,500 mesos for the set (NiaMeowDB).

Why can't magicians buy a level 25 top? Serabi sells no level 25 top or bottom, only the Doros and Doroness robes (maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB).

Where do I buy top DEF scrolls? From Flint in Henesys or Ben in Kerning City at the Town Resident grade, or from Tulcus in The Swamp of Despair II with no grade needed. Each costs 20,000 mesos (NiaMeowDB).

Where do I get Topwear HP scrolls? No NPC sells them. Arcforge makes Topwear HP and MP Lessers at craft level 3 and Bottomwear ones at level 4, each for a 10,000-meso fee (NiaMeowDB).

Do shops sell level 30 tops? No. The highest shop top or bottom is level 25, plus Don Hwang's level 26 Warfare Pants; from 30 up, use drops, the Free Market or an overall (NiaMeowDB).
