MapleStory Classic Overall Guide: Every Robe, Shop and Scroll

Checked against v1.0.0 on October 29, 2026.

An overall replaces your top and bottom, and it's the only body armor that takes main-stat scrolls. This MapleStory Classic overall guide lists every overall from level 15 to 50 with stats and where to get it after Grand Launch, explains the thief and bowman gap, and shows every source of overall stat and DEF scrolls, from citizenship shops to Arcforge.

Quick summary

• An overall has 10 upgrade slots and takes main-stat scrolls. No other body armor does (maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB). Ten Lesser stat scrolls are a guaranteed +10 to your main stat.
• Warriors and magicians can buy overalls from level 15. Thieves and bowmen have no overall until drop-only pieces at 35 and 50 (maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB).
• Town shops sell overalls only through level 25: Harry in Perion (warriors, up to the 10,800-meso Kendo Robes) and Serabi in Ellinia (magicians, up to the 13,500-meso Doros and Doroness Robes). Level 30 overalls aren't in any shop (NiaMeowDB's complete shop lists).
• The Sauna Robe fits every job. It gives all stats +1 and HP and MP +10, from the Mr. Wetbottom's Secret Book chain at level 32 (maplestory.quest, our quests guide).
• Overall stat scrolls are a citizenship unlock. Flint in Henesys sells STR and DEX, and Ben in Kerning City sells INT and LUK. Each Lesser scroll costs 40,000 mesos at the Distinguished Citizen rank (NiaMeowDB).

Know how overalls work

Rule	Detail	Source
Slots	10	maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB
Slot use	Covers top and bottom	Our equipment guide
Scrolls	Overall Armor DEF, STR, DEX, INT, LUK	maplestory.quest
Gender	Most overalls come in male-only and female-only versions with matching stats	maplestory.quest
Requirements	Main and secondary stat minimums from level 20	maplestory.quest

Choose an overall or a top and bottom

Factor	Overall	Top + bottom	Source
Slots	10	14 (7 + 7)	NiaMeowDB item pages
Main-stat scrolls	Yes	No	NiaMeowDB scroll list
Shop overalls	Warriors and magicians only	Every job	maplestory.quest
10 Lesser main-stat scrolls	+10 main stat, guaranteed	—	Our math
14 Lesser DEF scrolls	—	+28 weapon DEF	Our math (+2 each, maplestory.quest)

Our view: if your job has an overall, it's the better scroll target, because +10 to your main stat raises damage. Our AP guide explains why stat requirements matter too.

Steel Fitted Mail	15	20 STR	STR +2, DEX +1, weapon DEF 75	Harry (Perion), 5,400 mesos	maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB
Red / Blue / White Kendo Robe	20	30 STR, 10 DEX	STR +4, or DEX +4, or STR +2 and DEX +2; weapon DEF 85	Harry, 10,800 mesos	maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB
Black Dragon Robe (male) / Engrits (female)	30	50 STR, 20 DEX	STR +3 and DEX +3 (Black Dragon); up to STR +6 (Engrit); weapon DEF 105	Not sold: Harry's complete 50-item list stops at the Kendo Robes. Drops, the Free Market	maplestory.quest; NiaMeowDB
Crusader Chainmail (male) / Fitted Mail (female)	35	60 STR, 25 DEX	Up to STR +6, weapon DEF 115, magic DEF 10	Older-version drops	maplestory.quest

maplestory.quest shows no warrior overall at 40 or 50, so plan a top and bottom there; our tops and bottoms guide covers them. Older community records list the Black Dragon Robe and Engrits at Harry for 21,600 mesos, but our Perion guide shows his live stock, and they aren't in it.

Calas (male) / Calaf (female)	50	90 INT, 40 LUK	Up to INT +10, magic DEF 77	Older-version drops	maplestory.quest

Magicians have an overall at every tier through 50, which no other job does (maplestory.quest). Serabi's stock is in our NPC shops guide and Ellinia guide.

Know the thief and bowman gap

Job	First overall	Notes	Source
Thief	Avenger, level 35 (25 DEX, 60 LUK)	Up to LUK +6, or DEX +3 and LUK +3; older-version drops only	maplestory.quest
Bowman	Kismet (male) / Lumati (female), level 50 (40 STR, 90 DEX)	Up to DEX +10; older-version drops only	maplestory.quest
Both	Sauna Robe, level 30	All stats +1; quest reward	maplestory.quest

No NPC shop sells a thief or bowman overall: Harry and Serabi are the only overall sellers (NiaMeowDB). The Sauna Robe is the exception for any job, so it's the only overall these jobs can plan on before 35.

Get the Sauna Robe

The Blue Sauna Robe (male) and Red Sauna Robe (female) are level 30 overalls for any job. Each gives STR, DEX, INT and LUK +1, weapon DEF 75 and HP and MP +10, with 10 slots (maplestory.quest). It's the reward for Returned Secret Book from Ronnie, the last of nine Mr. Wetbottom's Secret Book quests from Sleepywood at level 32, worth 49,140 EXP and 8,593 mesos in total. The robe is tradeable (NiaMeowDB), so you can also buy a finished one. Our Sauna Robe quest guide walks every step, including the Diamond for Cold Milk.

For a thief or bowman, this is the overall to scroll. Ten Lesser stat scrolls on a Sauna Robe give +11 main stat with the base +1.

Scroll your overall

Scroll	Lesser (100%)	Intermediate (60%)	Greater (10%)	Chaos (10%, 50% destroy on failure)
Overall STR, DEX, INT or LUK	+1	+2	+3	+4
Overall Armor DEF	Weapon DEF +2	Weapon DEF +4, magic DEF +2	Weapon DEF +6, magic DEF +4	Weapon DEF +8, magic DEF +6

Effects and odds are from maplestory.quest.

GM events (Scroll of Secrets → Magic Box)	Random reward that can be an Overall Armor DEF Intermediate or Greater	Nexon's Grand Launch release notes

Our cost math: ten Lesser main-stat scrolls cost 400,000 mesos at NiaMeowDB's launch price for +10 main stat. Distinguished Citizen is grade 7, which needs level 42 (NiaMeowDB, via our citizenship guide), so before then you buy the scrolls from players. A crafted Overall DEF Lesser costs about 13,800 mesos in fee and gems against Tulcus's 40,000 (our Arcforge guide's math). Pick the town that sells your stat. Warriors and bowmen want Henesys, and magicians and thieves want Kerning City (NiaMeowDB's citizenship shops).

Plan overalls by level

Level	Warrior	Magician	Thief or bowman
15	Steel Fitted Mail	Plain Robe	Top and bottom
20	Kendo Robe	Plain Robe	Top and bottom
25	Kendo Robe	Doros/Doroness Robe; start scrolling	Top and bottom
30–34	Black Dragon Robe or Engrits from drops or players, or the Sauna Robe	Wizard Robe from drops or players, or the Sauna Robe	Sauna Robe from 32
35+	Drops or the market	Chaos Robe from drops	Avenger (thief) from drops

Our suggestion: start stat-scrolling the overall you plan to keep the longest. For many players that's the level 25 robe or the Sauna Robe.

Look ahead to levels 60 and 70

maplestory.quest lists more overalls in the client, all older-version drops. Our view: don't plan around them at launch.

Level	Job	Overalls (male / female)	Best main-stat roll	Source
60	Magician	Anakamoon / Anakarune	INT +12	maplestory.quest
60	Bowman	Tai / Choro	DEX +12 or STR +12	maplestory.quest
70	Magician	Requiem / Requierre	INT +14	maplestory.quest
70	Bowman	Linnex / Lineros	DEX +14	maplestory.quest

maplestory.quest shows no warrior overall above 35 and no thief overall above the level 35 Avenger.

Avoid these overall mistakes

• Using Chaos scrolls on a shop overall. A failure has a 50% chance to destroy it (maplestory.quest). Lessers always work.
• Buying the wrong gender. A male-only robe can't be worn by a female character (maplestory.quest).
• Skipping the stat requirement. The Doros Robe needs 40 INT and 15 LUK, so a magician with no LUK can't wear it (maplestory.quest).
• Scrolling DEF instead of main stat. Our view: DEF Lessers suit a top and bottom. Spend the overall's slots on main stat.

Alts and returning players

• Alts: the gender lock matters if you trade an overall to an alt of another gender (maplestory.quest).
• Alts: the Sauna Robe is a quest reward per character, so each alt can earn one at 32.
• Returning players: overall stat scrolls used to be rare drops. In Classic World they're town-shop items gated by citizenship (NiaMeowDB). Our hats and gloves guides cover the other scroll targets. Check the Free Market for scrolled overalls.

What changed for overalls at Grand Launch

Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) left every overall's stats alone. What changed around them:

• Shop stock is confirmed: Harry and Serabi sell overalls only up to level 25 (NiaMeowDB's complete post-launch lists). The level 30 Black Dragon Robe, Engrits and Wizard Robes that older community records place in shops aren't there.
• GM event Magic Boxes can give Overall Armor DEF Intermediate and Greater scrolls (Nexon).
• Crafting still stops at craft level 8, so the level 5 Arcforge Overall DEF recipe is open; there are still no overall recipes in Tailoring.
• The new-account trade lock applies: a new account can't trade until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15 (Nexon), which matters if you plan to buy a Wizard Robe or Sauna Robe from players.

Our patch notes tracker lists every other change, and the MapleStory Classic hub collects every guide for the game.

FAQ

Can thieves and bowmen wear overalls? Yes, but only the Sauna Robe (level 30, any job) has a quest source. Their job overalls start at 35 (thief) and 50 (bowman) and are drop-only (maplestory.quest).

Where do I buy overall STR scrolls? Flint in Henesys sells STR and DEX, and Ben in Kerning City sells INT and LUK, at 40,000 mesos for a Lesser scroll (NiaMeowDB).

Is an overall better than a top and bottom? For main stat, yes. Only the overall takes STR, DEX, INT and LUK scrolls; tops and bottoms get DEF, HP and MP scrolls only (NiaMeowDB).

How do I get the Sauna Robe? Finish the Mr. Wetbottom's Secret Book chain at level 32. The last quest, Returned Secret Book from Ronnie, pays it, and because the robe is tradeable you can also buy one (maplestory.quest; NiaMeowDB).

Can I buy a level 30 overall from an NPC? No. Since Grand Launch, NPC shops sell overalls only up to level 25. The Black Dragon Robe, Engrits and Wizard Robes come from drops or other players.

Are overalls gender-locked? Most are. maplestory.quest marks each version male-only or female-only, and the Sauna Robe's color follows your character's gender.
