Shoes are a 5-slot piece that gives your job's secondary stat plus avoidability, speed or jump. This MapleStory Classic shoes guide lists the best shoes for each job from level 10 to 50, with live shop prices, the crafted tiers you can make under the level 8 crafting cap, the free level 25 pair, and every source of speed, jump and evasion scrolls.
Quick summary
- Buy shoes up to level 20, then craft them from 25 to 40. Job shoes are sold in town shops through level 20 for 1,200 to 3,600 mesos (NiaMeowDB). Crafted shoes run 25 to 50, but crafting stops at craft level 8, so level 40 is the highest pair you can make. Magicians can also buy level 25 Wind Shoes from Serabi for 4,500.
- Shoes give your job's secondary stat. That's DEX for warriors, LUK for magicians, STR for bowmen and DEX for thieves, plus avoidability, speed or jump (maplestory.quest).
- Every tier has a stat version and a movement version. For example, Green Goni Shoes give DEX +5, while Blue Goni Shoes give DEX +2 and Speed +3.
- Shoe scrolls only add evasion, speed or jump. Tulcus sells the Evasion Lesser, Arcforge crafts Speed and Jump Lessers, and GM event Magic Boxes can give Intermediates and Greaters (NiaMeowDB; Nexon).
- Free pairs come from Cutthroat Manny's Request from Nella at level 22+, which pays out one level 25 shoe for your job (maplestory.quest).

Avoidability rises with the tier: +2 at 25, +3 at 30 to 35, +4 at 40 and +5 at 50 (maplestory.quest).
Sample recipes from maplestory.quest:
| Shoe | Materials |
|---|---|
| Mithril War Boots (25) | 5 Mithril Ingots, 2 Processed Leather, 15 Screws |
| Blue Lappy Boots (25) | 5 Processed Leather, 3 Sapphires, 15 Screws |
| Emerald Battle Grieves (30) | 4 Iron Ingots, 4 Emeralds, 18 Screws |
| Brown Pierre Shoes (40) | 8 Processed Leather, 40 Cursed Dolls, 24 Screws |
| Green Goldwind Shoes (50) | 12 Processed Cloth, 4 Gold Ingots, 2 Emeralds, 30 Dragon Skins, 30 Screws |
Craft rules: each craft level from 2 to 8 needs a character level of 5 times that craft level, and craft EXP stays parked at 100% until you catch up (NiaMeowDB, wiki). Crafting stops at craft level 8 in the live game (henesys.gg; NiaMeowDB), so the level 50 row is shown for planning only: its recipes need craft level 10 and can't be made yet. Fees are paid in mesos on top of materials, for example 1,500 at craft level 5, 1,800 at 6 and 4,200 at 8 (NiaMeowDB recipe pages). Our Smithing guide, Tailoring guide and Leatherworking guide cover each craft, and our ore guide covers the ingots and gems.
Pick the stat or the movement version
Each crafted tier has three or four colors (maplestory.quest):
| Version | Example (thief, Lv 40) | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Max secondary stat | Black Green-Lined Shoes: DEX +4 | Players who need accuracy or damage |
| Speed | Black Blue-Lined Shoes: DEX +2, Speed +2 | Grinders who run between spawns |
| Jump | Black Red-Lined Shoes: DEX +2, Jump +2 | Maps with tall platforms |
| Off-stat | Black Yellow-Lined Shoes: STR +4 | Thieves with STR requirements |
For warriors, DEX adds accuracy and meets weapon requirements. Bowmen get STR from shoes because their gloves give DEX. That's our reading of the stat layout, not a game rule.
Match shoes to your job
| Job | Stat on shoes | Best pick by our reading | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | DEX | The max-DEX color (Orange High Boots, Emerald Battle Grieves, Maroon Jangoon Shoes) | Warrior shoes have the highest weapon defense in each tier, +33 at 40 |
| Magician | LUK | The max-LUK color (Blue Magic Shoes, Gold Moon Shoes) | Only Dark Moon Shoes (40) and Purple Goldwind Shoes (50) add INT, at +1 |
| Bowman | STR | The max-STR color (Red Hunter Boots, Brown Pierre Shoes) | Black Hunter Boots (30) mix STR +2 and DEX +1 |
| Thief | DEX | The max-DEX color (Bronze Chain Boots, Black Green-Lined Shoes) | STR versions (Gold Chain Boots, Black Yellow-Lined Shoes) suit STR-requirement builds |
Stats are from maplestory.quest. The "best pick" column is our recommendation, not a sourced ranking. Magicians also get magic defense on every pair, and their shoes carry the lowest weapon defense.
Drops only: Squishy Shoes (level 28, +1 to all four stats) and Red and Blue Sneakers (level 31) have no shop or recipe. maplestory.quest lists them only as older-version drops, with a warning that rates differ. Don't plan around them.
Get free shoes from Nella
Cutthroat Manny's Request from Nella, level 22+, pays one level 25 shoe once (maplestory.quest):
| Job | Reward |
|---|---|
| Warrior | Mithril War Boots |
| Magician | Silver Wind Shoes |
| Bowman | Brown Jack Boots |
| Thief | Blue Lappy Boots |
| Any | Red Whitebottom Boots |
maplestory.quest lists this quest on each shoe's page. We believe it gives the pair for your job, but check the quest window, because the page doesn't list a choice.
Scroll your shoes
| Scroll | Lesser (100%) | Intermediate (60%) | Greater (10%) | Chaos (10%, 50% destroy on failure) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shoes Evasion | EVA +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 |
| Shoes Speed | +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 |
| Shoes Jump | +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 |
Effects and odds are from maplestory.quest. There's no shoes attack or stat scroll, so shoes are a comfort slot, not a damage slot. Spend damage scrolls on gloves first.
Where to get shoe scrolls:
| Source | Scroll | Source cited |
|---|---|---|
| Tulcus, The Swamp of Despair II (Kerning City) | Shoes Evasion Lesser, 40,000 mesos | NiaMeowDB shop list |
| Arcforge, craft level 6 | Shoes Jump Lesser (3 Aquamarine) or Speed Lesser (3 Amethyst), plus Processed Parchment and a 10,000-meso fee | Our Arcforge guide (NiaMeowDB recipes) |
| GM events (Scroll of Secrets → Magic Box) | Random reward that can be a Shoes Jump or Speed Intermediate or Greater | Nexon's Grand Launch release notes |
No shop sells Speed or Jump scrolls, so Arcforge is the only steady source. A crafted Speed Lesser costs about 13,200 mesos in fee and gems by our Arcforge guide's math, and a Jump Lesser about 10,800. Our scrolling guide explains the odds.
Plan shoes by level
| Level | Plan |
|---|---|
| 10–19 | Shop shoes; spend nothing on scrolls |
| 20–24 | Level 20 job shoes for 3,600 mesos |
| 22–25 | Cutthroat Manny's Request for a free 25 pair |
| 30–40 | Craft or buy the 30, 35 or 40 tier from players |
| 40+ | Speed Lessers if you grind a wide map; the level 40 pair is the last you can craft until crafting opens past level 8 |
Alts and returning players
- Alts: shop shoes are cheap, so don't transfer low-level pairs. Each new character can do Cutthroat Manny's Request at 22 for a free 25 pair (maplestory.quest).
- Any-job shoes (Aroa, Ankle-strap, Whitebottom) fit every alt, which helps if you're unsure of the job yet.
- Returning players: the shop names will be familiar, but crafting is new and now owns shoes from 25 (our equipment guide). Buy crafted pairs on the Free Market if you skip crafting. See the capes guide for the other 5-slot piece.

What changed for shoes at Grand Launch
Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) didn't change any shoe's stats. It settled the open questions:
- Crafting still stops at craft level 8, so level 40 is the highest craftable pair (henesys.gg).
- GM event Magic Boxes can now give Shoes Jump and Speed Intermediates and Greaters (Nexon).
- Shop stock is confirmed: every shoe in the buy tables above is in NiaMeowDB's complete post-launch shop lists, at the prices shown.
- The new-account trade lock means a new account can't buy crafted pairs from players until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15 (Nexon).
Our patch notes tracker lists every other change, and the MapleStory Classic hub collects every guide for the game.
