THE GUIDE

Checked against v1.0.0 on October 29, 2026.

MapleStory Classic events run on fixed UTC windows, and most of the launch events end on November 18. This MapleStory Classic events guide lists every live and upcoming event with its dates, level, NPC and rewards: The Journey Begins check-in, the Mark of the Beta hat chain, the Halloween candy quest and Slime Attack, the GM events through December 19, and what a Scroll of Secrets is actually for. It covers the live Classic World game; the Founder's Access events that ended on October 20 are summarized near the end.

Quick summary

  • The Journey Begins (level 10+, until November 18, 11:59 PM UTC): trade 30 Maple Leaves to Maple Administrator once a day per account for 14 cumulative rewards, including a pet, Safety Charms and Store Permits. Missed days don't reset your count (Nexon release notes).
  • The Marks We Leave Behind (level 25+, Jay in Henesys, until November 18): a clue chain ending in the Mark of the Beta hat, +1 all stats and 7 upgrade slots.
  • Halloween (from October 28, until November 18): bring Malady 100 Halloween Candies, then finish the hidden mission for the Pumpkin Basket, a one-handed sword with +27 attack and 7 slots. Orange Slimes in four towns drop candies and Malady's Candy potions.
  • GM events through Paul in Lith Harbor: Coconut Harvest on November 6 and a ladder-and-portal climb on December 19, both 12:00–2:00 AM UTC. Owning a Scroll of Secrets or joining a GM event in the last 24 hours locks you out.
  • Scroll of Secrets goes to Chun Ji at the Kerning City Construction Site for a Magic Box, which Mr. Pickall in Kerning City opens for a random ore, potion stack or scroll (Nexon).

US daylight saving time ends on November 1, so the Coconut Harvest opens at 4:00 PM PST on November 5 and the December 19 event at 4:00 PM PST on December 18. The launch events end at 3:59 PM PST on November 18.

Claim every Journey Begins reward

Accept [Event] The Journey Begins from Maple Administrator at level 10 or higher. Monsters level 10 and up drop Maple Leaves; bring 30 to Maple Administrator for that day's reward. You can complete it once per day per account, and the reward follows your total completions, not the calendar: claim Day 1 on Monday, come back Wednesday, and you get Day 2 (Nexon).

Check-in Reward Trade and duration
Day 1 Snail pet, 30 Pet Food, 30 Red Potions, 30 Blue Potions Pet untradable, expires Nov 18, can't be revived; food 30 days; potions permanent
Day 2 3 Safety Charms Untradable, 7 days
Day 3 20 Blue Potions Tradable within world, permanent
Day 4 Regular Store Permit Untradable, 7 days
Day 5 5 Return Scroll - Nearest Town Tradable within world, 7 days
Day 6 3 Megaphones Untradable, 7 days
Day 7 20 Cakes Tradable within world, 7 days
Day 8 3 Atmospheric Effect Boxes Untradable, 7 days
Day 9 20 Blue Potions Tradable within world, permanent
Day 10 3 Safety Charms Untradable, 7 days
Day 11 20 Cakes Tradable within world, 7 days
Day 12 Regular Store Permit Untradable, 7 days
Day 13 3 Megaphones Untradable, 7 days
Day 14 2 Item Megaphones Untradable, 7 days

October 29 to November 18 is 21 UTC days, so a player starting today can miss up to seven days and still collect all 14; the last day to start and still finish is November 5. Since most rewards last 7 days, use the Store Permits and Safety Charms as they arrive. A Safety Charm stops the EXP loss from one death; our EXP table shows what a death costs at your level. Megaphones need level 15 since Grand Launch (Nexon).

Earn the Mark of the Beta hat

The Marks We Leave Behind is a level 25 chain from Jay in Henesys: seven quests that follow clues around Victoria Island to a hidden treasure (Nexon, wiki). The reward is the Mark of the Beta, a level 25 hat with +1 STR, DEX, INT and LUK, +24 Weapon DEF after an October 21 fix raised it from 15, and 7 upgrade slots (NiaMeowDB). Seven slots make it one of the best hats to scroll before level 30. Our Mark of the Beta guide walks every clue, and the scrolling guide covers what to put on it.

Players who finished [Event] A Strange and Familiar Wood or [Event] Beyond the Unknown in a closed test get the Classic Beginnings Label Ring and Chat Ring by mail: one of each per test completed, so two of each if you did both tests (Nexon).

Finish the Halloween event for the Pumpkin Basket

Accept [Event] Halloween Candies from Malady in Henesys or Kerning City at level 10+. Monsters level 10 and up drop Halloween Candies; bring 100 back. The hidden mission that follows asks you to share them with children around Victoria Island, and finishing it gives the Pumpkin Basket: a one-handed sword, Fast, +27 Weapon Attack, +3 Speed, 7 upgrade slots, tradable within the world and permanent (Nexon). henesys.gg names the three children as Ronnie in the Tree Tunnel north of Ellinia, Anne on the Hill East of Henesys and Estelle on the Field South of Ellinia.

Slime Attack runs alongside it. Level 20 Orange Slimes spawn in Henesys, Ellinia, Kerning City and Perion, and drop:

Drop Effect Trade
Halloween Candies Counts toward Malady's 100 Untradable, expires Nov 18
Red Malady's Candy Recovers 600 HP Tradable, permanent
Blue Malady's Candy Recovers 450 MP Tradable, permanent
Green Malady's Candy Restores 300 HP and 300 MP Tradable, permanent

The candies vanish on November 18, so finish before then. Our Halloween event guide has the best candy maps and the children's exact spots. The Cash Shop's Halloween Mystery Fashion Crate runs separately until November 4; our Cash Shop guide covers it.

Join the GM events

Every GM event starts the same way: once the GM opens the Event Door, talk to Paul in Lith Harbor. Two rules lock you out (Nexon):

  • You already own a Scroll of Secrets.
  • You joined a GM event in the past 24 hours.

Rooms fill fast and there are several rounds, so if you can't get in, wait for the next round. Everyone who takes part gets an Event Trophy.

Event Date (UTC) How it works Scroll of Secrets goes to
Physical fitness jump quest Oct 22 (ended) A jump course against a 15-minute timer; Speed and Jump reset to default; Haste, Teleport and consumables disabled Everyone who finishes
Coconut Harvest Nov 6, 12:00–2:00 AM Two teams knock coconuts off trees for 5 minutes; melee only, ranged attacks and skills disabled; Harry on the event map sells a melee weapon The winning team
Ladder-and-portal climb Dec 19, 12:00–2:00 AM Three stages of ladders and portals in 6 minutes; some portals move you on, others send you back to the start; same movement limits Everyone who reaches the last stage

Prepare: practice on a jump quest map before the climbing events, since your Speed gear won't help; our jump quests guide is good practice and the speed guide explains default movement. For the Coconut Harvest, a ranged class should carry any cheap melee weapon.

Use your Scroll of Secrets

Nexon's Grand Launch notes finally answer what the Scroll of Secrets does. Take it to Chun Ji at the Kerning City Construction Site and complete his quest for a Magic Box. Bring the box to Mr. Pickall in Kerning City to open it for one random item from a long list (Nexon):

Reward type Examples
Ores 10 Gold, Diamond or Black Crystal Ore; 15 of any other ore or gem ore
Consumables 15 Elixirs; 30 Pure Water, Watermelons, Red Bean Sundaes or Ice Cream Pops
Materials 5 Screws, a Black Sack
Scrolls Intermediate or Greater scrolls for overalls, tops, bottoms, shoes (Jump, Speed), earrings (STR, DEX, INT, LUK), gloves (Attack, Magic Attack), shields and capes

Turning the scroll in also clears the lockout, so do it before the next GM event if you want to enter again.

Plan alts and returning players

  • Check-in rewards are per account. The Journey Begins can be claimed once per day per account, so an alt won't double your Safety Charms.
  • The Mark chain needs level 25 and ends November 18, so a fresh alt has under three weeks to get there.
  • GM event limits apply to each participant: the 24-hour lockout and the Scroll of Secrets rule. Nexon doesn't say whether that's per character or per account.
  • New accounts can't trade until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15 (Nexon), so a brand-new alt can't receive a traded Pumpkin Basket straight away.
  • Missed Founder's Access? Founder's First Step ended on October 20 and doesn't return; The Journey Begins is its Grand Launch replacement.

When is the next GM event in MapleStory Classic? The Coconut Harvest on November 6, 12:00–2:00 AM UTC (4:00–6:00 PM PST on November 5). Talk to Paul in Lith Harbor when the Event Door opens.
