MapleStory Classic Halloween Event Guide: Candies, Pumpkin Basket
MapleStory Classic Halloween event guide: Malady's quest, where to farm 100 Halloween Candies, all 3 children for Trick or Treat!, and the Pumpkin Basket.

In this guide 14 sections
Checked against v1.0.0 on October 29, 2026.
The MapleStory Classic Halloween event is two linked quests from Malady plus a town invasion of Orange Slimes, and its prize is the Pumpkin Basket, a tradable one-handed sword. This guide covers the dates in your time zone, where to farm the 100 Halloween Candies, where all three children for the hidden Trick or Treat! quest stand, and whether the Pumpkin Basket is worth keeping.
Quick summary
- Dates: October 28, 2026 at 12:00 AM UTC to November 18, 2026 at 11:59 PM UTC, which is October 27 at 5 PM PDT (Nexon's Grand Launch release notes).
- Quest: take [Event] Halloween Candies from Malady in Henesys or Kerning City (level 10+), bring her 100 Halloween Candies, then finish the hidden [Event] Trick or Treat! delivery.
- The three children: Ronnie in The Tree Tunnel At the Forest Up North, Anne on The Hill East of Henesys, and Estelle on The Field South of Ellinia (henesys.gg, NiaMeowDB).
- Reward: the Pumpkin Basket, a one-handed sword with +27 Weapon Attack, +3 Speed, Fast attack speed and 7 upgrade slots, permanent and tradable within your world (Nexon).
- Candies drop from any monster level 10+ and from the Orange Slimes that invade Henesys, Ellinia, Kerning City and Perion. They're untradable and expire when the event ends.
When does the MapleStory Classic Halloween event start and end?
| Time zone | Start | End |
|---|---|---|
| UTC | Wed Oct 28, 12:00 AM | Wed Nov 18, 11:59 PM |
| US Pacific | Tue Oct 27, 5:00 PM PDT | Wed Nov 18, 3:59 PM PST |
| US Eastern | Tue Oct 27, 8:00 PM EDT | Wed Nov 18, 6:59 PM EST |
| Central Europe | Wed Oct 28, 1:00 AM CET | Thu Nov 19, 12:59 AM CET |
The UTC times are Nexon's; the other rows are our conversions, and match NiaMeowDB's events page for Pacific time. US clocks change on November 1, which is why the Pacific start is PDT and the end is PST. henesys.gg notes the events began from the launch client, with no maintenance or new client needed.
Compare the two Halloween events
| Halloween Candies (Malady) | Slime Attack | |
|---|---|---|
| Level | 10+ | 10+ |
| Where | Malady, Henesys and Kerning City | Orange Slimes in Henesys, Ellinia, Kerning City and Perion |
| What you do | Collect 100 candies, then deliver three pouches | Kill Orange Slimes in town |
| Reward | Pumpkin Basket (one-handed sword) | Halloween Candies plus Red, Blue and Green Malady's Candy |
| Repeatable | Not marked repeatable in the game data (MS-Classic) | Kill as many as you like |
The two are built to be played together: the slimes drop the same Halloween Candies that Malady wants (Nexon).
Get the Pumpkin Basket step by step
- Reach level 10. If you're still on Maple Island, finish it and pick a job first.
- Talk to Malady in Henesys or Kerning City and accept [Event] Halloween Candies. Both give the same quest; in Kerning City she stands on the far left of town (NiaMeowDB).
- Collect 100 Halloween Candies. Any monster level 10 or higher can drop them, and so can Orange Slimes in town. One full stack of 100 finishes the quest.
- Hand the 100 candies to Malady.
- Accept [Event] Trick or Treat!, the hidden follow-up. Malady splits the candy into three pouches for children spending Halloween alone.
- Deliver the three pouches (table below).
- Return to Malady for the Pumpkin Basket.
Where are the three Trick or Treat! children?
The quest text only says "the child in the dark tunnel, the child on the open field and the child up on the high ground." Players found them on October 28, and both henesys.gg and NiaMeowDB now list them:
| Quest hint | Child | Map | How to get there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dark tunnel | Ronnie | The Tree Tunnel At the Forest Up North | North of Ellinia, off The Forest North of Ellinia; see our Forest Up North guide |
| Open field | Estelle | The Field South of Ellinia | Ellinia's south exit; see our Ellinia south guide |
| High ground | Anne | The Hill East of Henesys | East of Henesys; see our Henesys fields guide |
Route tip: two of the three are around Ellinia. Take Malady's follow-up in Henesys, visit Anne on the way out of town, then cab to Ellinia for Estelle and Ronnie, and cab back. Our travel guide lists the cab routes.
Example: you're a level 18 Thief training in Kerning City. Take the quest from Malady in Kerning City, keep training at your usual spot, and kill Orange Slimes whenever you pass through town. The Maple Leaves you pick up on the way also count toward The Journey Begins check-in.
Where to farm Halloween Candies
Nexon hasn't published a drop rate, so nobody can say yet how many kills 100 candies takes. Pick your source by level.
| Source | Level | HP | EXP | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ribbon Pig | 10 | 172 | 19 | Named in the quest text |
| Dark Stump | 11 | 236 | 21 | Named in the quest text; weak to Fire |
| Octopus | 12 | 191 | 23 | Named in the quest text; weak to Lightning |
| Green Mushroom | 14 | 233 | 26 | Named in the quest text |
| Orange Slime (event) | 20 | 1,855 | 64 | In-town spawns; also drops Malady's Candy |
| Your normal training map | 10+ | varies | varies | Any monster level 10+ can drop candies |
Stats are from NiaMeowDB's monster pages and its events page. Our read of those numbers:
- Low level (10–20): stay on the quest-text mobs. All four spawn in the fields south and north of Kerning City (our L Forest guide). They die fast, and kills are what count. Their potion drops also rose at Grand Launch, since they're between level 10 and 30.
- Mid level (20+): keep training where your EXP is best. Orange Slimes have a lot of HP for their EXP, about a third of a Green Mushroom's EXP per point of HP, so kill them for drops, not levels.
- Crowded towns: change channels. Windia has 40 channels since Grand Launch (Nexon), and the slimes spawn in the busiest towns.
What to do with Malady's Candies
Orange Slimes also drop three tradable, permanent healing candies (Nexon):
| Item | Heals | Compare (shop item, NiaMeowDB) |
|---|---|---|
| Red Malady's Candy | 600 HP | White Potion: 500 HP |
| Blue Malady's Candy | 450 MP | Blue Potion: 200 MP |
| Green Malady's Candy | 300 HP + 300 MP | Cake: 100 HP + 100 MP |
Don't sell them to an NPC; MS-Classic lists their NPC price at 1 meso. Keep them for bosses or sell spares in the Free Market once your account can trade. Our potions guide covers how they fit into your HP and MP budget.
Is the Pumpkin Basket worth keeping?
| Stat | Pumpkin Basket |
|---|---|
| Type | One-handed sword |
| Attack speed | Fast |
| Weapon Attack | +27 |
| Speed | +3 |
| Upgrade slots | 7 |
| Required level | 10 (NiaMeowDB) |
| Trade | Tradable within world, permanent |
MS-Classic notes that the shop Long Sword also has 27 Weapon Attack at level 10 but needs 20 STR, while the game data shows only a level requirement for the Pumpkin Basket. Seven slots is more than most early swords carry, so it's a reasonable scroll base for a new Warrior.
| You are | Our suggestion |
|---|---|
| A new Warrior | Keep it as an early one-handed sword. See our Warrior guide and swords guide for when to replace it. |
| Any other job | You can't use a sword well. Trade it within your world or pass it to a Warrior alt. |
| A player who scrolls gear | Seven slots make it a scroll target. Decide before you trade it. |
Run one daily plan for every event
These events overlap with Halloween until November 18 (Nexon):
| Event | Level | What to do each day |
|---|---|---|
| The Journey Begins | 10+ | Collect 30 Maple Leaves from level 10+ monsters and trade them to the Maple Administrator, once a day per account, for 14 check-in rewards |
| Halloween Candies | 10+ | Bank candies toward 100 |
| Slime Attack | 10+ | Kill Orange Slimes when you're in Henesys, Ellinia, Kerning City or Perion |
| The Marks We Leave Behind | 25+ | Follow Jay's clues in Henesys to the Mark of the Beta |
| Coconut Harvest (GM event) | Any | November 6, 12:00 to 2:00 AM UTC, through Paul in Lith Harbor |
One session covers most of it: train on level 10+ mobs, pick up Maple Leaves and candies together, and clear the town slimes on the way back. Our Mark of the Beta guide covers Jay's chain, and a missed check-in day doesn't reset The Journey Begins progress (Nexon).
Plan alts, new accounts and returning players
- New accounts: trading opens 24 hours after any character on the account reaches level 15 (Nexon). Plan around that if you want to trade a Pumpkin Basket or Malady's Candies.
- Alts: the quest isn't marked repeatable, so plan on one basket per character (MS-Classic). Nexon hasn't said whether it's limited per account. Candies can't be traded, so each character farms its own 100.
- Returning players: if you started during Founder's Access, you're already past level 10. Grab the quest on your next login.
- Higher-level characters: any level 10+ monster drops candies, so a level 40 character can farm them at its usual map.
Use this checklist before you start
- Get a character to level 10.
- Clear inventory space for 100 candies plus any Malady's Candies you pick up. Our inventory guide covers slots.
- Note the end time in your time zone from the table above.
- Decide which character keeps the Pumpkin Basket.
- Hand in your candies before November 18, 11:59 PM UTC. Leftovers disappear.

What changed for Halloween at Grand Launch
The Halloween events were announced in Nexon's Grand Launch release notes on October 21 and switched on from the launch client on October 28. Other v1.0.0 changes that affect a Halloween session, from Nexon's Grand Launch maintenance notes:
| Change | What it means for the event |
|---|---|
| More potion drops from monsters level 10–30 | Farming candies on low-level maps also stocks potions |
| Windia expanded to 40 channels | More copies of each town to find free Orange Slimes |
| New-account trade lock until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15 | Selling a Pumpkin Basket or Malady's Candies waits for it |
| Debt System (October 22) | Accounts in debt can't trade or drop items, which includes event rewards |
| Halloween Mystery Fashion Crate, 4,900 NX, October 28 to November 4 | A separate Cash Shop sale with Halloween outfits; see our Cash Shop guide |
Nexon has scheduled v1.1.0 maintenance for October 29; check its notes for any event fixes. The MapleStory Classic hub collects every guide for the game.
