THE GUIDE

Checked against v1.0.0 on October 29, 2026.

Woodcrafting is MapleStory Classic World's wood craft. Vicious teaches it at his workstation in the Henesys Market. It turns Tree Branches, Firewood and, since Grand Launch, Seedlings and Wooden Boards into Processed Wood, then into bows, crossbows, wands, staves, chairs, house furniture and arrows in batches of 500. Every other craft needs Processed Wood too, for weapons, wands and house stations. This MapleStory Classic Woodcrafting guide lists all 42 recipes you can make in the live game, shows where each material drops, compares crafting with shop prices, and prices two routes from craft level 1 to 8. For how the six crafts fit together, see our crafting guide.

Quick summary

  • 42 Woodcrafting recipes you can craft: 4 Processed Wood recipes, 12 arrow recipes, 20 weapons, 2 chairs, and the Woodworking Station, Cherry Wardrobe, Cherry Bed and Reinforced Wooden Chest added at Grand Launch. Crafting still stops at craft level 8 (NiaMeowDB).
  • Vicious unlocks the craft at level 10 for 30 Stumps and 20 Tree Branches (MapleStory Quest).
  • Arrows come 500 at a time from 1 Processed Wood and 1 Stiff Feather, with no fee. Bronze and Iron versions add one ingot (MapleStory Quest).
  • Two new Processed Wood recipes: 5 Seedlings (craft 3) or 5 Wooden Boards (craft 5), both from the Excavation Site, pay 9 and 15 craft EXP per wood (NiaMeowDB, henesys.gg).
  • Our math on the release EXP table: reaching 8 costs about 3,300 mesos net with the wand route, or about 41,700 with the arrow route, which also leaves you about 100,000 arrows.

Unlock Woodcrafting with Vicious

Vicious stands in the Henesys Market at (2085, 530), next to the Woodcrafting Station (MapleStory Quest; our Henesys guide).

Quest Level Needs EXP (CoT2 → release) Mesos Reward
Vicious in Need of an Apprentice 10 30 Stumps, 20 Tree Branches 171 → 188 351 Unlocks Woodcrafting
Vicious in Need of Help (weekly) 15 Woodcrafting 2; 25 Axe Stumps, 1 Processed Wood 705 → 669 497 Woodcrafting Kit
A Carpenter in My Own Right! 25 Woodcrafting 5; 30 Dark Axe Stumps, 1 The Red Relaxer 2,587 → 3,060 804 Two-Handed Weapon Crafting Catalyst

The Woodcrafting Kit raises crafting EXP by 10% for 15 minutes. NiaMeowDB's crafting page reports that the six masters' level 15 weeklies share one weekly limit, so turning in Vicious's makes the others wait (player reported). | A Craftsman's Touch (Citizenship) | 57 | Henesys Grade 10; 10 Dragon Skin, 10 Fragment of Magic | 17,800 | 1,784 | 20 Blue Potions | | A Memory Restored (Citizenship) | 57 | After A Craftsman's Touch; 1 Repaired Wooden Bow | 17,800 | 1,784 | Henesys Earrings |

Know the level gates

Craft level Craft EXP to next Character level needed Gear EXP per craft
1 50 10 – (arrows and wood only)
2 166 10 40
3 319 15 60
4 521 20 80
5 786 25 100
6 1,138 30 120
7 1,602 35 140
8 cap at launch 40 160

EXP to next and the gate come from NiaMeowDB's crafting EXP table: reaching craft level 8 takes 4,582 craft EXP in total, and craft level N needs character level 5 × N. At the gate the bar parks at 100% and extra EXP is discarded; after you level, one more craft ticks it over.

Make Processed Wood and gather inputs

Recipe Craft Lv Ingredients Fee Craft EXP
Processed Wood 1 10 Tree Branches 100 3
Processed Wood 2 5 Firewood 200 6
Processed Wood 3 5 Seedlings 300 9
Processed Wood 5 5 Wooden Boards 500 15
Material Drops from (wiki, community-recorded)
Tree Branch Stump (level 5) about 1 in 2.2, Dark Stump (11) about 1 in 4.9
Firewood Axe Stump (17) about 1 in 2.2, Dark Axe Stump (23) about 1 in 3.3
Stiff Feather Ribbon Pig (10) about 1 in 8, Pig (7) about 1 in 18, also Stirge and Lupin
Seedling Excavation Site; NiaMeowDB's reference list names Ghost Stump (19) and Stumpy (35)
Wooden Board Excavation Site; NiaMeowDB's reference list names Wooden Mask (23)

No recorded shop sells Tree Branches (wiki). The Seedling and Wooden Board sources are NiaMeowDB's old-version reference drops; henesys.gg confirms both drop in the Excavation Site, so check in game which monster drops which. Per wood, a Wooden Board recipe pays 2.5 times the EXP of a Firewood one, which makes the Excavation Site the best wood farm from craft level 5 if you're training there anyway; see our Excavation Site guide. Several recipes also need Screws from Weaponcrafting, ingots from Smithing, gems from Arcforge, or Processed Cloth from Tailoring. See our Smithing, Weaponcrafting and Tailoring guides.

Craft arrows in batches of 500

Recipe Craft Lv Ingredients Makes Craft EXP
Arrows for Bows / Crossbows 1 1 Processed Wood, 1 Stiff Feather 500 3
Bronze Arrows for Bows / Crossbows 4 + 1 Bronze Ingot 500 12
Iron Arrows for Bows / Crossbows 7 + 1 Iron Ingot 500 21
Convert bow ↔ crossbow arrows (each tier) 1 / 4 / 7 10 arrows of the other type 5 0

None of these have a fee (MapleStory Quest). Shops sell plain arrows for 1 meso each. Raymond in the Henesys Town Hall sells Bronze Arrows for 2 mesos each from the Helpful Stranger citizenship grade (NiaMeowDB). No recorded shop sells Iron Arrows. Our Crossbowman guide covers when Iron Arrows matter.

House furniture and the station (Grand Launch)

3 Woodworking Station Lets you do Woodcrafting in your house 5 Iron Ingots, 5 Bronze Ingots, 20 Wood, 20 Screws 100,000 60

6 Reinforced Wooden Chest Home storage you use by standing next to it 20 Wood, 5 Iron Ingots, 5 Bronze Ingots, 10 Screws 300,000 120

Recipes and descriptions are NiaMeowDB's (Woodworking Station). These fees are far higher than the gear recipes, so craft them for your own house or for a friend who supplies the materials, not for EXP. Our housing guide covers placement slots and costs. Magicians can see where wands fit in our Magician guide.

Which recipes make money? NiaMeowDB's Woodcrafting efficiency table counts 7 of the 42 recipes as profitable to grind when every ingredient is valued at its NPC sell-back price, with the Hardwood Wand on top: it sells to NPCs for 2,500 mesos on a 1,500 fee.

Level Woodcrafting from 1 to 8

Both routes are our math. They count Processed Wood EXP, use Firewood wood from craft level 2, and assume a recipe keeps paying full EXP at higher craft levels, which isn't confirmed. We also assume your character meets each gate, so EXP past a level-up carries into the next level. If it doesn't, add about one craft per level.

Route A: wands (about break-even)

Craft Lv Craft Count
1 Processed Wood + 500 Arrows 9
2 Wooden Wand 3
3–7 Hardwood Wand 4 + 5 + 9 + 13 + 18 = 49

Totals: 130,300 mesos in fees (including wood). Selling the wands back returns 127,000, for a net cost of about 3,300 mesos. Materials: 90 Tree Branches, 1,285 Firewood, 1,470 Orange Mushroom Caps and 9 Stiff Feathers. You also keep 4,500 arrows.

Route B: arrows (most useful output)

Craft Lv Craft Count
1 Processed Wood + 500 Arrows 9
2 Wooden Wand 3
3 Hardwood Wand 4
4–6 Bronze Arrows (500 each) 25 + 44 + 63 = 132
7 Iron Arrows (500 each) 60

Totals: 56,200 mesos in fees, minus 14,500 back from the wands, for a net cost of about 41,700 mesos. Materials: 1,120 Firewood, 201 Stiff Feathers, 132 Bronze and 60 Iron Ingots. Output: about 100,500 arrows, including 30,000 Iron Arrows that no recorded shop sells.

For comparison, planet-helper's 1–10 estimate runs from −89,565 (fewest materials) to a profit of +108,510 (fewest mesos) (our crafting guide).

For alts and returning players

  • Bowman alts: arrows come 500 per Stiff Feather. A Bowman with Woodcrafting rarely needs to buy arrows again (our math).
  • Magician alts: the Hardwood Wand (+34 magic attack at level 15) costs a 1,500 fee instead of Flora's 5,000 (MapleStory Quest; NiaMeowDB).
  • Returning from original MapleStory: in Classic World, arrows and bows are crafted from Stump wood rather than bought only from Henesys shops (MapleStory Quest).
  • Bank Stump drops: Stumps and Axe Stumps drop Tree Branches and Firewood about half the time (wiki).
  • Crafting at home: with a Woodworking Station in your house, you don't need to stand next to Vicious in the Henesys Market (NiaMeowDB).

What changed for Woodcrafting at Grand Launch

Woodcrafting gained six recipes at Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026). Per Nexon's Grand Launch release notes and henesys.gg's update notes:

  • Two new Processed Wood sources: Seedlings (craft 3) and Wooden Boards (craft 5), which drop in the new Excavation Site off Perion.
  • Housing recipes: the Woodworking Station, Cherry Wardrobe, Cherry Bed and Reinforced Wooden Chest. Smithing and Woodcrafting make most of the furniture and both storage pieces, and every house station needs Processed Wood, so wood demand went up across the game.
  • Unchanged: the 36 earlier recipes, their fees and the craft level 8 cap. Bows, crossbows and arrows are exactly as listed above.
  • Bowmen: Final Attack: Bow and Final Attack: Crossbow now last 60 seconds instead of 30 (Nexon's maintenance notes).

Our patch notes tracker lists every update, and the MapleStory Classic hub gathers every guide and service for the game.

FAQ

Where do I learn Woodcrafting in MapleStory Classic?

From Vicious in the Henesys Market, at level 10. Defeat 30 Stumps and bring 20 Tree Branches (MapleStory Quest).

How do I craft arrows?

Use 1 Processed Wood and 1 Stiff Feather for 500 arrows at craft level 1, with no fee. Bronze arrows (craft 4) and Iron arrows (craft 7) also need 1 ingot each (MapleStory Quest).

How do I make Processed Wood?

10 Tree Branches at craft 1, 5 Firewood at craft 2, 5 Seedlings at craft 3 or 5 Wooden Boards at craft 5. Tree Branches drop from Stumps and Dark Stumps; Seedlings and Wooden Boards from the Excavation Site (NiaMeowDB, henesys.gg).

What is the max Woodcrafting level?

Craft level 8, unchanged at Grand Launch. The level 9–10 recipes (Silver Crow, Olympus, Rower, Adamantium and Mithril arrows) are in the data but can't be crafted yet (NiaMeowDB).

Can Woodcrafting make furniture?

Yes, since Grand Launch: the Cherry Wardrobe (craft 4), Cherry Bed (5) and Reinforced Wooden Chest (6), plus the Woodworking Station (3) and the two Relaxer chairs (NiaMeowDB).

Is Woodcrafting profitable?

Only barely, from NPC sales. The Hardwood Wand nets about the cost of its wood. Arrows are worth more as something to use or trade than as vendor sales (our math).
