MapleStory Classic Warrior Guide 1–30: Skill Build, AP, Training
MapleStory Classic Warrior guide, Lv 1-30: two 61-SP skill orders, the STR/DEX AP plan, accuracy targets, gear by level, training maps.

In this guide 16 sections
Quick summary
- Advance at level 10 with Dances with Balrog in Perion. There's no quest and no stat requirement (the wiki, NiaMeowDB).
- Put all AP into STR through level 10 (57 STR / 5 DEX), then add just enough DEX for your weapons. NiaMeowDB's plan reaches 27 base DEX by level 30 for the Blue Axe.
- You get 61 SP across levels 10–30. Both guides end up at Power Strike 20, Slash Blast 20, Precise Strikes 15, Improved HP Recovery 3, and Max HP Increase 3, but they disagree on the order (NiaMeowDB vs planet-helper).
- Power Strike is 260% damage on one target. Slash Blast is 130% damage on up to 6 targets and costs HP as well as MP. Use Slash Blast when three or more mobs are grouped (planet-helper, NiaMeowDB).
- Max HP Increase is now an immediate percentage of base Max HP, so taking it late costs you nothing (NiaMeowDB, planet-helper).
Checked against the Founder's Access build on October 13, 2026. Grand Launch is October 21, 2026; see the end of the guide for what may change.
Level 1–10 as a Beginner
- Follow the Maple Island quests (about level 8 by the end, per NiaMeowDB's October 12 refresh), take Shanks's boat, and reach level 10 on the Lith Harbor quests. Our Maple Island guide has the full route.
- NiaMeowDB says the Club is the best starter weapon for levels 1–4, then switch to the Razor at level 5. Keep any Wooden Sword a Red Snail drops, because it's a level 10 Warrior sword (the wiki).
- Beginner SP: Three Snails 3, Recovery 3, Nimble Feet 3. You'll have 9 SP by level 10, enough for all three (NiaMeowDB).
- AP: characters start at 12 STR / 5 DEX / 4 INT / 4 LUK. Every point goes into STR, giving 57 STR / 5 DEX at level 10.
Advance in Perion
Sail to Victoria Island, go to Perion, and talk to Dances with Balrog (the wiki). NiaMeowDB's level 10 example uses a Wooden Sword from River in Perion, a Metal Koif (Smithing 1), and a Juno (dropped by Stump, or Smithing 2). That gives 30 weapon attack and 24 accuracy.
At level 12, NiaMeowDB recommends Henesys citizenship: Raymond sells the Supreme Sniper Potion (+7 accuracy for 15 minutes). The trade-offs are in our citizenship guide.
Know your six first-job skills
| Skill | Max | Lv 1 → max (launch data, planet-helper) |
|---|---|---|
| Power Strike | 20 | 160% → 260%, 1 target, MP 4 → 12 |
| Slash Blast | 20 | 70% → 130%, up to 6 targets; range 130 → 150 at Lv 11; HP 8 → 16, MP 6 → 14 |
| Precise Strikes | 15 | Accuracy +5 → +20, Critical Rate +1% → +5% |
| Improved HP Recovery | 15 | HP regenerates every 10 s; item HP +5% → +20% |
| Max HP Increase | 15 (needs IHR 3) | Max HP +10% → +25% |
| Iron Body | 20 (needs MHI 3) | Weapon DEF +5% → +25%, 15 MP |
- The MapleClassic Wiki says Slash Blast hits "up to four enemies." planet-helper's launch-data table and NiaMeowDB both say six.
- planet-helper notes that early footage showed Precise Strikes at +50 accuracy, but the launch data says +20.
Choose your 61-SP order
| Level | NiaMeowDB order | planet-helper order |
|---|---|---|
| 10–12 | PS 4, SB 3 | PS 6, IHR 1 |
| 13–17 | SB 4, Precise 5, PS 19 | PS 7, Precise 14 |
| 18–22 | PS 20, SB 6, then SB 18 by 24 | Precise 15, PS 20 |
| 23–25 | SB 20, Precise 6 | SB 10 → 11 |
| 26–28 | Precise 15 | IHR 3, MHI 3, SB → 20 |
| 29–30 | IHR 3, MHI 3 | SB 20 |
Why they differ: NiaMeowDB takes Slash Blast early "to get six-target mobbing immediately." planet-helper takes Precise Strikes first because Lv 19 Blue Mushrooms are 0% hit without it. It also says +20 accuracy "is worth about 42 DEX," which frees up AP for STR. NiaMeowDB itself suggests raising Precise Strikes earlier if misses are hurting you on your preferred map.
Pick by playstyle:
| You train... | Use | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Solo, on single-target maps | planet-helper's order | planet-helper |
| In mob-heavy party grinds | NiaMeowDB's order, or move Slash Blast up | NiaMeowDB |
| Tanking in KPQ | PS 20, Precise 15, SB 11, IHR 3, MHI 3, Iron Body 9 (+13% Weapon DEF) | planet-helper |
| Wanting more HP | PS 20, Precise 15, SB 11, IHR 5, MHI 10 (+19% HP) | planet-helper |
Second-job SP can't go into first-job skills, so finish this plan by level 30 (NiaMeowDB). For the KPQ build, see our KPQ guide.
Split AP between STR and DEX
| Level | Base STR | Base DEX | Plan (NiaMeowDB) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 57 | 5 | All STR |
| 15 | 75 | 12 | 4 STR / 1 DEX most levels |
| 20 | 94 | 18 | 20 total DEX with the Iron Viking Helm |
| 25 | 114 | 23 | 4 STR / 1 DEX |
| 30 | 135 | 27 | 30 total DEX with the Jousting Helmet for the Blue Axe |
The wiki explains why DEX matters: "every warrior weapon past the starter tier also asks for some DEX." Its examples are the Battle Axe (30 STR, 10 DEX) and the Lv 35 Cutlus (70 STR, 30 DEX). NiaMeowDB's rule is to add only enough base DEX to reach each weapon's total once gear is counted.
Hit your accuracy targets
NiaMeowDB's base accuracy formula is floor((1.2 × DEX + 2 × Level + 0.6 × LUK) / 2.5 + 10). One level is worth about 1.67 DEX. Targets for a 100% hit rate:
| Mob | Mob level | Your level | ACC for 100% |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green Mushroom | 14 | 14 | 27 |
| Horny Mushroom | 22 | 22 | 44 |
| Zombie Mushroom | 24 | 19 | 56 |
| Zombie Mushroom | 24 | 24 | 47 |
Example: at level 19, a Warrior with 41 accuracy misses Zombie Mushrooms. Five more levels lower the requirement to 47, and Precise Strikes adds 20 (NiaMeowDB). A miss still costs the full MP.
Upgrade gear by level
| Level | Weapon picks | Useful gear | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Wooden Sword, Metal Axe (30 weapon attack) | Metal Koif, Juno | NiaMeowDB |
| 15 | Sabre, Battle Axe (32) | Steel Fitted Mail (female Warriors only at 15) | NiaMeowDB |
| 20 | Two-Handed Sword (40), Viking Sword | Red Kendo Robe, Iron Viking Helm | NiaMeowDB |
| 25 | Broadsword, Mithril Axe, Two-Handed Axe (45) | White Fingerless Gloves | NiaMeowDB |
| 30 | Scimitar (53), Blue Axe (50) | Jousting Helmet, Steel Missel, Red Cross Shield | NiaMeowDB |
Drops worth keeping (the wiki): Bronze Koif and Long Sword from Orange Mushrooms, Battle Axe from Bubblings, Machete from Dark Axe Stumps, and Fireman's Axe from Fire Boars.
Reach matters: NiaMeowDB measures average basic-attack reach at 122 px for polearms and spears, 102 px for the Scimitar, 86–90 px for most swords and axes, and 74 px for the Long Sword and Gladius. Power Strike and Slash Blast use your weapon's hitbox. To improve gear, see our training guide.
Train on the right maps
| Level | Picks (NiaMeowDB Training Advisor, modeled) |
|---|---|
| 10 | The Rain-Forest East of Henesys (Pigs), An Empty House |
| 15 | Rain-Forest, Mushroom Garden |
| 20–25 | Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North IV; Dungeon, Southern Forest III |
| 30 | Line 1 (Bubblings), Forest Up North IV |
NiaMeowDB leaves out Stirges and Flyeyes because Warriors "will have a terrible time there." The wiki adds Ant Tunnel III's dense mushroom floors for Slash Blast, plus Warrior's Rocky Mountain at level 30.
Read the minimum-roll rule
NiaMeowDB's map picks all require a 100% hit rate. From level 20 on, they also require every spawn to die within two Power Strikes, even on your weakest damage roll. A "guaranteed 2-hit" means two minimum-roll hits kill the mob, and normal or high rolls kill it sooner. If your build is weaker than the sample build, step down one map rather than tanking the misses and extra hits.
Buy the right potions
| Potion | Value (NiaMeowDB) |
|---|---|
| Red Potion, Fried Chicken, Meat | 0.5 meso per HP |
| Orange, Lemon | 1 meso per MP |
| White Potion / Blue Potion | Worse value: 0.7 meso per HP / 1.1 per MP |
| Sniper / Supreme Sniper | +5 / +7 accuracy, for hit-rate gaps only |
NiaMeowDB's advice: finish low-HP mobs with normal attacks and track how many Lemons you burn. Our HP/MP guide explains why Warriors have the most HP in Classic.
Avoid the classic mistakes
- Adding DEX for the advancement. There's no stat requirement (NiaMeowDB).
- Maxing Max HP Increase early out of habit. It's a flat percentage now (NiaMeowDB, planet-helper).
- Grinding on a map where Power Strike misses.
- Ignoring the walk back to town for potions. NiaMeowDB says a map with a slightly lower EXP estimate can win when it's less dangerous and much closer to town.
Pick your second job at 30
| Branch | Weapons | Signature (NiaMeowDB) | Our guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fighter | Swords, axes | Rage for the party | Fighter |
| Page | Swords, blunt weapons | Threaten; shield option | Page |
| Spearman | Spears, polearms | Iron Will; long reach; no shield | Spearman |
The wiki says the choice is permanent, but "nothing you did before 30 is wasted" because all three use STR. See the full job advancement guide.
Return, reroll, or level with friends
- Returning player: the old habit of maxing Max HP Increase first is gone (NiaMeowDB). Follow one of the two orders above.
- Party leveling: NiaMeowDB's Slash Blast-first order suits group grinds. Our world-first party plan covers group roles.
- Paid leveling: before you look at powerleveling, read the service note at the end of this guide and Nexon's Terms of Service first.

What may change at Grand Launch
This guide describes the Founder's Access build as it was on October 13, 2026. Re-check these against Nexon's Grand Launch notes on October 21: whether crafting still stops at craft level 8, whether Forgotten Hollow, Orbis and third jobs stay closed, KPQ channel limits, NPC shop stock, and any Founder's Access-only events or packages mentioned here. Nothing here assumes a closed area or feature will open.
FAQ
Where do you become a Warrior in MapleStory Classic? At level 10, from Dances with Balrog in Perion. There's no quest and no stat requirement (the wiki, NiaMeowDB).
What is the best Warrior first-job skill build? Both main guides end at Power Strike 20, Slash Blast 20, Precise Strikes 15, Improved HP Recovery 3, and Max HP Increase 3. planet-helper takes Precise Strikes first; NiaMeowDB takes Slash Blast earlier.
Power Strike or Slash Blast? Power Strike (260%) for single targets. Slash Blast (130% on up to 6) once three or more mobs are grouped (planet-helper).
How much DEX does a Warrior need? Only what your weapon requires once gear is counted. NiaMeowDB's plan reaches 27 base DEX by level 30.
Should I max Max HP Increase early? No. It's a percentage of base HP, so taking it at level 27 gives the same HP as taking it at level 11.
How many targets does Slash Blast hit? Six, according to the launch data (planet-helper, NiaMeowDB). The wiki says four.
