The Forest Up North is the cluster of Tree Dungeons north of Ellinia, and it covers two separate level bands: mushrooms for roughly 11–25 and Curse Eyes for 30–38. This MapleStory Classic Forest Up North guide compares all 15 maps in the area, picks a map for each level and class, and covers Ronnie's quest chain and the Magician job test that also happen here.

The Tree Tunnel has a second exit, to Forgotten Entrance III (Shallow Passage), which NiaMeowDB lists as closed until November 18. That's the walking route into the Forgotten Hollow, which Nexon says opens in November.

Two details from MapleStory Quest's spawn data:

• The Fairy 3 spawns in VI and VII respawn every 180 seconds, while everything else uses the standard 7.56 seconds.
• Forest Up North VII had the biggest mob-rate change, from ×0.4 to ×0.9.

Spawn points and the number up at once are different things. planet-helper counts 17 monsters up at once on Forest Up North IV (372 EXP per clear), while the 962 figure above adds every spawn point once. Use the table to rank maps against each other, not as a per-minute promise.

Public Release changes (MapleStory Quest): Cold Eye's EXP dropped from 94 to 85 and its avoid rose from 24 to 25. Green Mushroom lost its undead flag.

Fairy 3's 500 magic defense makes it a poor magic target. With only two on each map and a 3-minute respawn, mages can ignore them, unless they need Torn Ledger Pages for our Caretaker's Ledger guide. Read our accuracy guide for the ACC numbers.

The four delivery rewards were checked against NiaMeowDB's quest tracker (for example First Material Delivery). The October 21 patch only rewrote the journal text of the Second and Third deliveries to name the kill counts they already required.

Example: a level 41 Cleric who kept every Horny Mushroom Cap and Curse Eye Tail from earlier training can hand in the First Material Delivery the day the level gate opens, then spend the rest of the session on Cold Eyes for the last one.

Our tip: the First Material Delivery needs both Horny Mushrooms and Curse Eyes, and both live in this forest. Save Horny Mushroom Caps and Curse Eye Tails while you level here, even before 41. The Third delivery's Fire Boars and Copper Drakes are in East Rocky Mountain VII and Dangerous Valley.

El Moth is the only scroll seller in this forest, and his wand and staff scrolls cost the same 60,000 as the two-handed ones. Older notes that list 25,000 and 50,000 are out of date. If you're making alts or coming back

• Any job at level 11: the Slimes here drop the Squishy Liquid for I'm Bored 2, the first step of our Icarus Cape quest guide.
• New Magicians: you start near Ellinia. Use The Tree That Grew II, then Forest Up North IV and III, and come back to The Forest North of Ellinia at 30 for the job test.
• Alts from other towns: III is NiaMeowDB's pick "when both Kerning maps are crowded."
• Returning testers: Forest Up North VII now spawns more than twice as densely (×0.4 → ×0.9), and Cold Eyes give less EXP (85, down from 94 in the second closed test).
• Fighters and Bowmen choosing a 16–20 map: NiaMeowDB prefers III and planet-helper prefers II. III has 13 more spawn points, so it's our pick when both are empty.
• Collectors: keep Horny Mushroom Caps and Curse Eye Tails for Ronnie's First Material Delivery.

What changed in the Forest Up North at Grand Launch

Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) didn't change a Tree Dungeon spawn or a Ronnie reward. These changes from Nexon's Grand Launch maintenance notes and release notes do touch the area:

What does El Moth sell? Fourteen Lesser Attack Scrolls, one for every weapon type. One-handed sword, axe, blunt and dagger scrolls cost 30,000 mesos, and the rest, wands and staffs included, cost 60,000 (NiaMeowDB). He stands in The Tree That Grew III.

What do I need for Ronnie's First Material Delivery? 50 Horny Mushroom kills, 50 Curse Eye kills, 30 Horny Mushroom Caps and 30 Curse Eye Tails, at level 41+ (MapleStory Quest). It pays 8,670 EXP, 1,301 mesos, 5 Magic Potions and 30 Blue Potions (NiaMeowDB).
