Gloves are the one armor slot no NPC sells in Classic World, and the one that carries critical rate on every piece. This MapleStory Classic gloves guide lists the best craftable gloves for each job and level, explains the craft level cap that decides what you can make today, and shows where gloves attack scrolls come from and what five of them are worth.
Quick summary
- Gloves come from crafting, not shops. No NPC shop in NiaMeowDB's recorded inventories stocks gloves. Smithing makes warrior gloves, Tailoring makes magician gloves and Leatherworking makes bowman and thief gloves, from level 10 to 50 (maplestory.quest recipes; our crafting guide).
- Every glove has critical rate. It's the only armor slot that does (MapleClassic Wiki). Crit rate goes from +1 at level 10 to +3 at level 50 (maplestory.quest).
- Gloves attack scrolls are guaranteed damage. Weapon attack on gloves adds to the same total as your weapon's (NiaMeowDB's damage formula). Five Lesser scrolls are a guaranteed +5, but Flint and Ben only sell them at citizenship grade 9, for 40,000 mesos each (NiaMeowDB).
- Level 40 is the top glove you can craft today. Level 50 gloves need craft level 10, and crafting stops at craft level 8 in the live game (NiaMeowDB, henesys.gg).
- The free starter pair is Work Gloves from Andre's Request at level 10 (maplestory.quest).
Know how gloves work
| Rule | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Crit rate | On every glove; +1 (Lv 10–25), +2 (Lv 30–40), +3 (Lv 50) on the main lines | MapleClassic Wiki, maplestory.quest |
| Slots | 5 on every glove | maplestory.quest, NiaMeowDB |
| Job lock | Most gloves are for one job; Work Gloves fit everyone | maplestory.quest |
| Shops | No shop sells gloves | Wiki Thief gear guide; NiaMeowDB shop inventories |
| Trading | Crafted gloves are tradeable, for both genders | NiaMeowDB item pages (for example Steel Sylvia) |
| Attack | Gloves attack scrolls add to your total weapon attack, the same as +1 on the weapon | NiaMeowDB damage formula guide |
The base stats are small. What makes gloves matter is the five slots. See our damage formula guide for how weapon attack and crit rate feed damage.
Best gloves by job and level
Each row lists the best main-stat glove per tier. The craft level is the recipe level on maplestory.quest.
| Lv | Craft level | Warrior (Smithing) | Magician (Tailoring) | Bowman (Leatherworking) | Thief (Leatherworking) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 2 | Juno: W.DEF 9, ACC +1 | Work Gloves (any job) | Work Gloves | Work Gloves |
| 15 | 3 | Steel Fingerless: W.DEF 12, ACC +1, HP +5 | Lemona: INT +1 | Basic Archer Gloves: DEX +1 | Black Duo: LUK +1 |
| 20 | 4 | Black Cat Gloves: W.DEF 15, ACC +2 | Blue Morrican: INT +2 | Green Diros: DEX +2 | Mithril Mischief: DEX +2 |
| 25 | 5 | White Fingerless: W.DEF 18, ACC +2, HP +5 | Ocean Mesana: INT +2, MP +5 | Blue Savata: DEX +2, HP +5 | Dark Wolfskin: LUK +2, HP +5 |
| 30 | 6 | Steel Missel: STR +3, crit +2 | Blue Lutia: INT +3, crit +2 | Green Marker: DEX +3, crit +2 | Steel Sylvia: LUK +3, crit +2 |
| 35 | 7 | Steel Briggon: STR +3, HP +5 | Blue Noel: INT +3, MP +5 | Mithril Scaler: DEX +3, MP +5 | Gold Arbion: LUK +3, HP +5 |
| 40 | 8 | Iron Knuckle: STR +4 | Blue Arten: INT +4 | Aqua Brace: DEX +4 | Dark Cleave: LUK +4 |
| 50 | 10 (locked) | Steel Brist: STR +5, crit +3 | Blue Penance: INT +5, crit +3 | Blue Willow: DEX +5, crit +3 | Brown Moon Gloves: LUK +5, crit +3 |
All stats and craft levels are from maplestory.quest, which notes the glove data is unchanged since Closed Online Test 2; we spot-checked the craft levels on NiaMeowDB (Steel Sylvia at Leatherworking 6, Iron Knuckle at Smithing 8). Every glove in the table also carries crit rate: +1 through 25, +2 at 30 to 40 and +3 at 50. The level 50 row is there for planning only, because nobody can craft it yet.
Example: a level 30 Assassin who wants Steel Sylvia (LUK +3, crit +2) needs Leatherworking 6, plus 6 Processed Leather, 4 Iron Ingots and 18 Spools of Thread (NiaMeowDB). If you haven't leveled Leatherworking, buying a pair from a crafter is faster.
Other colors in each tier trade the main stat for a secondary one. For example, thieves can pick Red Cleave (DEX +4) or Gold Cleave (STR +4) at 40, and magicians can pick Red Arten (LUK +4) or Dark Arten (INT +2, LUK +2) (maplestory.quest).
Pick the accuracy version if you miss
Warriors get a third option in most tiers: a "Dark" or accuracy glove with no main stat but extra accuracy.
| Tier | Accuracy glove | Accuracy | Main-stat glove | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30 | Orihalcon Missel | +3, crit +1 | Steel Missel: STR +3, ACC +1, crit +2 | maplestory.quest |
| 35 | Dark Briggon | +3, crit +1 | Steel Briggon: STR +3, crit +2 | maplestory.quest |
| 40 | Dark Knuckle | +4, crit +1 | Iron Knuckle: STR +4, ACC +1, crit +2 | maplestory.quest |
| 50 | Gold Brist | +5, crit +1 | Steel Brist: STR +5, ACC +1, crit +3 | maplestory.quest |
The accuracy version gives up crit rate as well as STR. Use it only if you're missing monsters at your level. Otherwise take STR, and fix accuracy with gloves accuracy scrolls or DEX.
Craft your own or buy from a crafter
| Craft | Taught in | Who needs it | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smithing | Perion (Silas Irons) | Warriors; also makes ingots for other crafts | Our crafting guide |
| Tailoring | Ellinia (Francois) | Magicians | Our crafting guide |
| Leatherworking | Kerning City (JM From tha Streetz) | Bowmen and thieves | Our crafting guide |
Two crafting rules matter for gloves:
- The level gate. Your character level must be at least 5 times your craft level to gain craft EXP (NiaMeowDB, wiki). Level 40 gloves need craft level 8, so a character level of 40.
- The craft level cap. Crafting stops at craft level 8 in the live game, so recipes at 9 and 10 can't be made (NiaMeowDB, henesys.gg). Recipe lists that run to level 10 show the client data, not what you can craft today. That rules out the level 50 gloves and the Lesser gloves accuracy and crit rate scrolls, which are Arcforge level 9 recipes.
The trainers are covered in our Smithing, Tailoring and Leatherworking guides.
Sample recipes from maplestory.quest:
| Glove | Materials |
|---|---|
| Basic Archer Gloves (Lv 15) | 3 Processed Leather, 15 Blue Mushroom Caps, 9 Spools of Thread |
| Blue Morrican (Lv 20) | 6 Processed Cloth, 2 Aquamarine, 12 Spools of Thread |
| Black Cat Gloves (Lv 20) | 4 Bronze Ingots, 2 Processed Leather, 12 Screws |
| Dark Wolfskin (Lv 25) | 5 Processed Leather, 25 Stirge Wings, 15 Spools of Thread |
| Orihalcon Missel (Lv 30) | 1 Bronze Missel, 4 Orihalcon Ingots |
Materials like Blue Mushroom Caps and Stirge Wings are worth saving while you train; our Etc keep list covers which ones. If you don't craft, buy from players who do. Our Free Market guide covers buying.
Gloves attack scrolls and other glove scrolls
| Scroll | Lesser (100%) | Intermediate (60%) | Greater (10%) | Chaos (10%, can destroy) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gloves Attack | +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 |
| Gloves Magic Attack | +2 | +4 | +6 | +8 |
| Gloves Crit. Rate | +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 |
| Gloves Accuracy | +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 |
Effects and odds are from maplestory.quest and match NiaMeowDB's item pages, which add that a failed Chaos scroll has a 50% chance to destroy the gloves. Our scrolling guide notes gloves attack scrolls didn't get the launch boost weapon scrolls got, so they keep +3 Greater and +4 Chaos.
Our expected attack from 5 slots:
| Scroll mix | Expected weapon attack |
|---|---|
| 5 Lesser | +5, guaranteed |
| 5 Intermediate | +6 on average |
| 3 Intermediate, then 2 Lesser | about +5.6 (our scrolling guide's example) |
| 5 Greater | +1.5 on average |
Magicians double everything: five Lesser Magic Attack scrolls give +10 magic attack.
Where to get gloves attack scrolls
| Source | Scroll | Source cited |
|---|---|---|
| Flint (Henesys Town Hall) and Ben (Kerning City Civic Center) | Lesser gloves attack and magic attack, 40,000 mesos each, from the Guardian of the Village grade (grade 9, level 52) | NiaMeowDB shop and item pages |
| Collecting 150 Cursed Dolls (Lv 36) | Intermediate gloves attack or magic attack | NiaMeowDB; our scrolling guide |
| Jane's Final Challenge (Lv 44) | Intermediate or Greater gloves attack or magic attack (25% each) | NiaMeowDB |
| A Name Never Given (Henesys) or An Unresolved Question (Kerning City), Lv 47, citizenship grade 8 | Gloves Crit. Rate Scroll, Intermediate or Greater (50% each), plus 11,400 EXP | NiaMeowDB quest tracker |
| GM event Magic Box (Scroll of Secrets → Chun Ji → Mr. Pickall) | One random prize; the pool includes Intermediate and Greater gloves attack and magic attack scrolls | Nexon Grand Launch notes |
| Excavation Site skeletons, Mushmom, Wooden Mask (reference drops) | Intermediate or Greater gloves attack | NiaMeowDB's old MapleSEA reference list, not confirmed in Classic |
The Lesser shop price fell from 50,000 in the second closed test to 40,000 at launch (NiaMeowDB item page). The grade-9 gate is the real cost: it takes 26,000 citizenship contribution, so most players get their first glove scrolls from quests. Our citizenship guide covers how to climb the grades.
Plan gloves by level
| Level | Gloves | Scrolls |
|---|---|---|
| 10–29 | Work Gloves, then your job's 15–25 craft | Don't spend scrolls; you'll replace these |
| 30–39 | Level 30 or 35 main-stat gloves | Lesser attack if you have them |
| 40–49 | Level 40 gloves | Your first serious scroll project |
| 50+ | Keep your level 40 pair; level 50 gloves need craft level 10, which isn't open | The long-term pair; use quest Intermediates here |
Because the craft cap stops at level 40 gloves, a level 40 pair is the one to scroll. Even when level 50 gloves open, a +5 attack pair at 40 beats a clean pair at 50, since the 50 tier adds main stat and crit, not attack.
Alts and returning players
- One crafter can supply alts if the gloves trade. maplestory.quest doesn't mark the craftable gloves untradeable, but check the tooltip before you craft for an alt. Most gloves only fit one job (maplestory.quest).
- Work Gloves fit every job. Andre's Request gives a pair to each new character at level 10 (maplestory.quest).
- Returning players: gloves now have crit rate, and crafting is new to Classic World (our crafting guide). Old pre-Big Bang drop lists won't help much.
- Accuracy-starved characters can't craft the Lesser gloves accuracy scroll, an Arcforge 9 recipe above the cap. Use the accuracy gloves above or a hat accuracy scroll instead.
Our equipment guide covers every slot, with the earrings and capes guides for the other 5-slot pieces. Quests that pay glove scrolls are in our quests worth doing guide.

What changed for gloves at Grand Launch
Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) didn't change a glove's stats or a glove recipe. What it did change, per Nexon's Grand Launch release notes and maintenance notes:
| Change | What it means for gloves |
|---|---|
| Crafting still stops at craft level 8 | Level 40 gloves stay the top craftable tier |
| Every craft now also makes a station for your house | Smithing, Tailoring and Leatherworking each add a home station; see our housing guide |
| GM event Magic Box prize list published | A second source of Intermediate and Greater gloves attack scrolls |
| The Excavation Site opened off Perion | Its skeletons are old reference sources for gloves attack scrolls; see our Excavation Site guide |
| Equipment bonus stats now show in the Character Stats window | You can see what your scrolled gloves add without doing the math |
| New accounts can't trade until 24 hours after a character reaches level 15 | Buying a crafted pair waits until the lock lifts |
One change is older than it looks. The craft fee for Lesser cape, earring and glove scrolls rose from 10,000 to 20,000 mesos at Founder's Access on October 6, not at Grand Launch (henesys.gg update notes). It doesn't matter for gloves yet, because both Lesser glove recipes sit above the cap. The MapleStory Classic hub collects every guide for the game.
FAQ
Can you buy gloves in MapleStory Classic? Not from NPC shops. No shop stocks them, so craft them or buy a crafted pair from another player once your account can trade.
Which craft makes my gloves? Smithing for warriors, Tailoring for magicians and Leatherworking for bowmen and thieves (maplestory.quest). Every glove they make carries crit rate, from +1 to +3.
What do gloves attack scrolls do? They add weapon attack that counts the same as weapon attack on your weapon, because every equipped weapon attack line joins one pool (NiaMeowDB). Lesser is +1 at 100%, Intermediate +2 at 60%, Greater +3 at 10%.
Where can I buy a gloves attack scroll? Flint in Henesys and Ben in Kerning City sell the Lesser gloves attack and magic attack scrolls for 40,000 mesos, but only at citizenship grade 9 (NiaMeowDB). Before that, Jane's Final Challenge and the Cursed Dolls quest are the reliable sources.
What are the best gloves for a level 30 thief? Steel Sylvia for LUK +3 and crit +2, crafted with Leatherworking level 6 (maplestory.quest).
Can I craft level 50 gloves? Not yet. They need craft level 10, and crafting stops at craft level 8 in the live game, so level 40 gloves are the top craftable tier.
