MapleStory Classic Earrings Guide: Every Earring and Scroll

Earrings in MapleStory Classic World carry no main stats of their own, so the best earring is usually the one you can get free and scroll. This MapleStory Classic earrings guide lists every earring with its stats and source, picks the avoid or crit line for each job, maps the free quest earrings from level 18 to 65, and shows every way to get earring scrolls in the live Grand Launch game, including the new Stumpy and Excavation Site drops.

Quick summary

• Earrings are a scroll base. Every earring gives magic defense. The only other stats that ever appear are avoidability, critical damage and Max MP. No earring has a main stat, accuracy or attack (MapleClassic Wiki).
• They split into two lines. Some earrings add avoid, some add critical damage, and a few have both (wiki). Pick the line that suits your job.
• Every earring has 5 slots and no job requirement. Level is the only gate (wiki, maplestory.quest).
• Four quest earrings are free and good: Leaf Earrings (Lv 25 item, quest at 17), Faded Maple Leaf Earrings (28), Henesys or Kerning City Earrings (57), and Pink-Flowered Earrings (60, quest at 65) (maplestory.quest).
• The scrolls do the work. There are 24 earring scrolls: STR, DEX, INT, LUK, Evasion and Crit Damage, each in four tiers. Main-stat Lessers come only from Arcforge (craft level 8); Evasion and Crit Damage Lessers sell for 40,000 in the citizenship shops (NiaMeowDB).

The stats are base values. maplestory.quest shows a range for dropped copies. Skull Earrings, for example, roll 34–42 magic defense and 3–5 avoid. Shop prices are community-recorded and may change.

From 18 to 50, the quest earrings are as good as anything in a shop. That leaves your mesos for scrolls.

Weighted Earrings and Yellow Square are cheaper on the Free Market than at Serabi. Weighted Earrings were the second most searched item on NiaMeowDB's market tracker in launch week, so they sell fast. Scroll your earring

Every earring has 5 slots. The 24 earring scrolls cover STR, DEX, INT, LUK, Evasion and Crit Damage, each as Lesser, Intermediate, Greater and Chaos (maplestory.quest). Our scrolling guide gives the tier odds, citing the wiki:

The last column is our math. Intermediate scrolls give the most on average, but Lesser scrolls never fail. A 5-slot earring with five Lesser main-stat scrolls is a guaranteed +5 to that stat.

The Arcforge fee is 20,000 mesos, up from 10,000 in the closed tests (henesys.gg). With 3 Black Crystals per scroll, a crafted main-stat Lesser costs more in materials than the shop Crit Damage and Evasion Lessers, but it's the only recorded way to get one. Drop rates are community records, so treat the monster rows as where to look.

Use the free Intermediate and Greater scrolls on the earring you plan to keep longest. Quest earrings you'll replace in 10 levels don't deserve a Greater scroll.

The Faded Maple Leaf Earrings are worth scrolling. You'll wear them for 20 or more levels, and they come free.

Alts and returning players

• Hand-me-downs work. Earrings have no job requirement, so a scrolled earring fits any alt at the right level (wiki). Shop and drop earrings trade. Citizenship earrings don't, per the wiki.
• Do the free quests on every character. Mother's Gold Watch and the Caretaker's Ledger pay out per character.
• Returning players: earrings are different now. The wiki's list shows crit damage on many earrings and no main stats on any base earring. Don't expect old-style earrings with stats built in.

What changed for earrings at Grand Launch

Grand Launch (v1.0.0, October 21, 2026) didn't change any earring's stats. It changed where earring scrolls come from:

• Stumpy, the new level 35 field boss in Parched Land, drops DEX, LUK and STR Intermediates.
• The Excavation Site opened off Perion, and its Wooden Masks drop STR Intermediates.
• GM events award a Scroll of Secrets, which Chun Ji turns into a Magic Box with earring scrolls among the possible rewards (Nexon).
• Crafting still stops at craft level 8, which is exactly the Arcforge level the main-stat Lessers need.

The October 15 patch also cut the Caretaker's Ledger to 25 Torn Ledger Pages, which makes the Faded Maple Leaf Earrings quicker to earn. Forgotten Hollow stays closed until November. The MapleStory Classic hub collects every guide for the game.

FAQ

What's the best earring in MapleStory Classic? In the game data, the Henesys and Kerning City Earrings at level 57: +42 magic defense, +7 MP, +2 avoid and +2% crit damage (maplestory.quest). Before that, the free Faded Maple Leaf Earrings at 28 are the best value.

Do earrings give main stats in MapleStory Classic? No. Base earrings only give magic defense, avoid, crit damage and Max MP (wiki). Main stats come from earring scrolls.

Where do I buy earrings? Sam sells Single and Amethyst Earrings, and Serabi the Fairy in Ellinia sells Weighted Earrings, Yellow Square and Gold Earrings (maplestory.quest, community-recorded prices). The Free Market is often cheaper.

Which earring scrolls can I buy? Flint in Henesys sells Crit Damage Lessers and Ben in Kerning City sells Evasion Lessers, both 40,000 mesos at the Helpful Stranger grade. STR, DEX, INT and LUK Lessers aren't sold; they're crafted in Arcforge (NiaMeowDB).

How do I get the Henesys Earrings? Reach level 57 and the Citizen of Honor grade in Henesys citizenship. The Kerning City Earrings are the same reward in Kerning, and neither can be traded (NiaMeowDB; wiki).

Which earring should a thief use? An avoid-line earring: Weighted, Leaf, Lightning, Blue Moon or Skull, plus Evasion or LUK scrolls.
